Big YES on the video talking about your building horror stories! Maybe a whole episode going over these stories and your current process of vetting contractors. Tips on identifying red flags, how to respectfully keep an eye on your project/supervise, etc? My friends and family are 1 of 2 types, 1) watch every single move the contractors make and never let them out of their sight, or 2) Say hi to the contractors and let them into the house and never see them again until the end of the work day.

You have the relationship with your mom that I long for with mine. ❤ Hygge has become the center of how I live my life and decorate my home as well. I work at an antique store so of course I love to incorporate antique/vintage touches. The combination of creamy colors and antique brass is giving me life right now. Do you ever feel you have decor intuition? Like it seems like you go with your gut on what you gravitate toward without following a trend and then suddenly after you’ve implemented it in your life it suddenly becomes trendy? I feel like that’s a real thing.

MaCenna! You and I must have graduated from FIDM at the same time! 🥰 I graduated in June of 2008 with an interior design degree and I SO feel you on there being no paid work available. Getting an interior design degree at the height of the recession and housing market crash was impossible. I couldn’t even find unpaid internships so my life quickly took a shift and I ended up working for non-profits and doing graphic design. At 35, I’m just getting back to my passion for interior design… don’t know if it will ever be my career but, in large part because of your channel, I finding my way back to my first love ❤ I’m LOVING this podcast. Your mom is at the forefront of new trends and this is why she doesn’t “ follow” trends. By the tone they’re mail stream and are seen everywhere, she’s well on her way to the next thing. You talk about your inspiration and decor stile in the end of the podcast, and you mention “hygge”, which made me smile SO much! Because I’m from Denmark (Scandinavia), where the word hygge is from. Even for us it’s difficult to explain what hygge is, but I read a book written by Meik Wiking called “the little book of HYGGE - the danish way to live well”, and I loooved the way he takes us on his journey, as someone moving to Denmark and learning about hygge. I highly recommend it for you Macenna!😃🤓📚📖

Oh I loved this, I just assumed we'd talk about Mums art, which I am dying to hear, but I enjoyed hearing all about the different styles of homes they built / lived in and seeing the photos. One thing is, how? A "where it all begun" for Mum and Dad, in order to do all the things. Would also vote for a horror story podcast. But promise to do an art one with your mum please :) Can include the shopping and restoring of vintage frames etc.

They do say that history repeats itself and I believe we are in that particular stage in time. This style is classic and can last any changing trends. I believe it’s because vintage items were often items that people chose and saved for and they knew the quality would last for years. They also were people who made their own stuff so it was made with love and over time. Patience is a virtue. People are tired of the “cookie cutter” type of homes these days and I love that the classics are returning. We share so many thoughts and this is what I enjoy most about your channel you are not fussy or demanding and if it’s something that needs done you just jump in and do it!

Bring the HORROR!!! I think it's important for people to know that Reno/new builds are a huge undertaking and should not be taken lightly. Contractors can have a huge effect on the way a project progresses or doesn't...lol. Both you and your mom are very strong and brave humans that we can learn from. Can't wait for more podcasts!

Love it, you and your mom are naturals. This 55 year old lady checks everyday for "something" new from you! Love when your mom is there. I too feel like the trends are catching up to what I've always loved, old stuff, antiques. Gold, French. Charmingly tattered. I live in a 1900 house. Very (too) small, but I love it. Next will be redoing my one little bathroom. It has a pedestal tub, but I want to switch out to a footed tub, change out the chrome fixtures to brass, and herringbone, wood look ceramic type floor. But our projects always seem to take forever, and there is not another home to go to, and this is the only bathroom. Have to have all our ducks in a row before ever getting started.
