Lots of people don't know this! A girl went missing in my city, and I read the report, her husband said she walked to work, but she never showed up. I said, her husband killed her. Two days later, he's in jail. My husband was like, wow you called it! Duhhh. Even before they found her body, her mom and aunt were begging him in the media to tell police what he knew. We know this. Maybe if men knew they're the prime suspect, they would hesitate a bit more about hurting us? It's like they're allergic to pattern recognition

All interesting points. I'm happily married, but I'm a grown ass woman. I've seen enough to know that happy marriages seem to be the exception. I think a lot of women are single bc of relationship trauma. My one ex, we lived together and I was fantasizing about living in the woods alone. Women need peace and security. If a man can't provide that, we're good at providing it for ourselves. I think a lot of times men are single is because their personalities are deficient or bc they have childhood trauma. They can't really be happy alone. I think they should be more like women, and people would be happier. They need to foster their own friendships, get hobbies, work on themselves.

Im glad this "ride or die" attitude is dying. Be loyal to yourself first, build something for yourself and if you want to add someone into your life then thats your choice. If you're loyal to yourself first, you'll have something to go back to if it doesnt work out and be just fine. Im married and as a married couple we chose not to have children and do animal rescue instead. I've been married 13 years and am 46 years old but I still catch some slack for it. When we told people we weren't financially ready we were told "oh, there's programs for that" and when I told the women I worked with I didn't want kids they told me "you'll love them once you have them"...WHAT?! How is any of that good advice?! People get brainwashed into thinking traditional is the only acceptable norm and will always make it their business to judge. Let em. People will also try to take advantage of you if you make these choices because they'll assume you have all the time in the world and are lonely. Its irritating. I've had a couple friends who thought I was their free 24/7 babysitter. Nope. You'll be judged and taken advantage of. Dont be afraid to stand up for yourself and make boundaries. Be helpful, but be reasonable. I understand not conforming to the accepted traditions of society. As a married woman Im not offended in the least by single people. I think the bottom line is that many men want variety. Some women may even feel the same way- however in my experience men want some woman “ at home” that is reliable, they love how devoted she is to him, willing to fight other women for him, and when he goes out he can feel a bit more at ease while looking for other random women to sleep with. Because if he doesn’t find anyone willing, at least old faithful is sitting up at home waiting for him to come back. That’s why I’m single. If people become bored so easily, spread STDs so easily, and can literally ruin your health because they want to dehumanize & degrade others just to “ get off”. Then what’s the point of it all? I've been single my entire life (41 yrs). I've tried dating men, but none of them seemed capable of being a partner. Too much childish mentality, both in regards to being responsible and in understanding what a partnership means. I refuse to baby a man. I refuse to be his mom. And when I'm struggling but he can't de-center himself in order to care for me, that's an absolute deal breaker. I'm better just taking care of myself alone. I’ve been doing my hair in a particular way; in space buns. I put flowers and bows in my hair. This might sound ridiculous but I want to be able to do little things that I enjoy without a man or anyone else to butt in with their opinion. The sprinkle sprinkle lady also taught me to be myself by being alone for a while so I can listen to my own ideas and thoughts. She’s more than just get money from a man, she teaches a lot of great lessons. Sorry this might be long. In my younger years everyone had an opinion on what I did or wore or looked like. My dad didn’t like my star earrings, my friends didn’t like my toy heart that had blush in it, they said it was too girly. I wasn’t able to wear or do anything I wanted as a younger girl. Now I make my own money and I can get access to the cute clothes I like and the way I can do my hair. I leave people alone to do their own things unless of course they intend to hurt. That’s a huge reason of why I’m single. It’s great that a lot of couples are happy and posting themselves hugging and kissing on social media. The problem is that there are also a lot of Reddit posts of couples getting in such stupid minor conflicts that eventually steal their energy. I’m already tired from work. I would like to be able to enjoy my days without being drained.

My son did very little dating in high school. He hates drama and he loves his life. I can't tell you how many people question him being single, even at a such a young age. I am now divorced and love it. We both love being able to take off and do what we want, we love art, travelling, animal rescue, and he is quite the athlete. Just let people be.

The last guy was spot on with having to constantly go through the ''getting to know each other phase" It's the same a** questions, same convo's and it gets boring after when most of the time it leads nowhere. My perspective is this. When I was a kid I looked forward to growing up just so I can do whatever I want without having to worry about anybody else's opinion. So being single makes me feel grown up. Looking back, my friends and family were the most worried about me, frustrated with me, scared for me, annoyed with me etc. when I was in a relationship. I was ALWAYS at my best when I was single. Being with most of the men in my life was worse for my mental health. I had undiagnosed autism, ocd, and depression and being in unhealthy relationships did not help. Being single gave me the time to work on myself and know how to understand and love my amazing, complicated brain 🧠

I also think the way one guy was describing dating says a lot. Dating and getting to know people should be rewarding in its own way, not something you have to trudge through before getting to the final product. I want to hear more from the men's perspective. I have a feeling more of them will go on that excuse of "I'm too nice" and only a few of them will say I just want to be. I just like to be. I'm comfortable/ I'm happy in my singlehood. I am a person who just likes to be single, since childhood. Why do people equate singlehood to loneliness? I have my friends, I have my family, I have my community. No I don't want to kissy kissy, and hold hands while we're frolicking in the meadows. I might want to do that once in a blue moon, not even with a man. It literally can be in a group of my best friends. I'm happy and content with the group of people that I have around giving me hugs and a peck on the cheek. No I don't want more. Even after I tell someone who's interested in me, that I'm not interested in that I'm not an affectionate person, and there's too much expectations in relationships for me to handle, and he just wants me to try because he really likes me, once they're my bf, they want to bombard me with hugs and kisses. Then they get upset when I don't, but they knew that when I told them the reason why I don't want to be in relationships. Then I'm the mean one.

My ex friend didn’t understand this that’s why she my ex friend. I choose to be single and she acts like something wrong with me. Meanwhile she’s with a pathological liar. Had me following him home because he wouldn’t tell her where he lived. He lied and said he had a home and he was really renting a room. She asked him to buy a house with her and he refused. She bought a home herself and let him move in. This after he lied about being an ex cop and now he tells her he has a PHD but they go half on the bills. I grew up in a narcissistic household. It's f*cked up my brain so much. I'm no contact with all family. ALL family. I've also had too much friendship trauma and just doesn't seem worth it anymore at 41. I suddenly have all the time in the world to focus on myself and do the things I've always wanted to do bc I have no one else I need to focus on. Write stories. Build LEGOS. Read weird books and watch bad movies. I made Chicago Style hot dogs and ate it for the first time ever, with a side of creamy German cucumber salad and am about to make strawberry scones with a peach-passionfruit glaze. And I don't have to worry about someone eating them all up when I'm not looking, so I can have one with my afternoon coffee everyday for the next few weeks. The peace is everything.

It just goes to show that people use relationships for validation, as far as I'm concerned. I'm more attracted to and interested in people who are not in relationships a lot of times because I know that takes a certain level of strength. Most of the people I've seen in relationships are tolerating a lot of bs and drama that I know at my age I have no interest in dealing with. I get exhausted just listening to the conversations of people in relationships a lot of times because they're constantly fighting, trauma dumping, trying to work out their relationship issues with people who are not even near their relationships...It just seems like a lot that people are tolerating for very little sometimes.

I'm single because I realized that the idea that someone OWES you a romantic relationship and vice versa is incredibly ridiculous. There's just SOOO much more to life than trying to prove to people that you're worth being attached to romantically. And then the narrative of you HAVE to find someone to be attached to for the rest of your life via matrimony just sounds like a prison sentence and a scam rolled into one 😑
