He even had business cards about being a super expert geocacher and held events and "what a great way to get your kids off of a true terror for them!the internet !" Yes that is true, but there are loopholes. Ppl are forever filing lawsuits against the criminal justice system, and quite often, they win a lot money when it’s something that could’ve been prevented. So there absolutely may very well be something that can be done in this girls case. They just need to get a lawyer that will dig for those loopholes. And let me tell you, suits like these usually have very large payday. Lawyer jump on this shit fast if it holds water! So many things about how the cops acted was so weird and off-putting. Remarking that it had taken a long time for the caller to make the 911 call while faffing about themselves for ages. Threatening to send in the dog when they had been told a beaten woman was being held against her will, AFTER they already got the suspect out of there. The language used in general, calling the victim a "chick". Joking around outside. Keeping the kidnapper right outside able to talk to the victim. Not even trying to help her walk to the ambulance. This was my thought as well. They were helping him out by letting him stay there, but they found out he had a girl that was beat to hell and had no idea what to do. I'm Canadian and I continually get angry at the American justice system for being way to lenient for serious offenders. DUI get 3 months suspension or just a couple of hundred dollar fines. Even on 2nd or 3rd offense. Killers get life with parole after 10 years. But if the smoke weed it's like the worse crime. Police work hard but the judges throw the charges out or give them a slap on the wrist for serious crimes.

When the police arrest him, people cheer for law enforcement and demand a larger police force and a bigger budget for the police. They need more judges and a bigger judicial budget to handle all these people going through the system over and over. They could stomp out 95% of crime in a month for all the money being spent but then they would have an idle police force and a lack of job security for lawyers and judges. All politics is theater to keep the populace enthralled and in line.

They made her WALK TO the ambulance unassisted likely because they were grossed out by her condition instead of being concerned. My thoughts exactly! They were told that her face/eyes are so swollen she can't see, and they have her climb down a ladder unassisted?! They might have meant well (giving them the benefit of the doubt here), but calling her "sweetheart" and "dear" was so condescending in this situation. She was abused by a guy, and I can only imagine how worthless she might've felt, being talked down at like that by other men. These hicks need lots of training!

Does it seem weird to anyone else that the officers were so disconnected to Chloe? I mean , they didn't help her come down from the hiding place and didn't really offer her any immediate comfort. And yes, I heard someone offer bottled water and another ask if she wanted to sit in the police car. I just feel she was in shock and needed assistance. 😢

I agree. From what they said at the end she had a broken arm, a brain bleed, fractured skull, was covered in urine and gasoline and two black eyes. She sat there alone for quite a long time before they led her to an ambulance. No one seems concerned or worried for her. I wonder if that’s a display of their own shock and trauma

Medics were great - they clearly have a bit more training and sensitivity with victims than the cops. In Australia, police undergo training in trauma-informed practice and mental health, after too many incidents where the wrong people were handled roughly. It has made a huge difference to policing here and the public’s trust in police.

To make sure that it was safe for the family. They may have needed him to calm down so as to be unsuspecting when the cops arrived. He would have been on edge when they found out, t hours later he might think they had not notified the police and he was in the clear. Point being: sometimes you have to play things by ear and tread carefully. They could keep an eye on the garage to see if he was leaving and call the police then as well.

It’s not a dumb question but an assessment one. It helps the Officer start a base line with the victim. Is the victim aware of their location, time and place, it also helps to reorientate them from the hell they have just been through and beings the next stages of a very long road of questions they will need to ask her so they can put a full case together. The only stupid part of this whole situation is our Courts allowing animals like him it even exists.
