Forgot to mention that not only does Hood get 15" guns, her AP shells have improved pen angles like Duke of York. So even when you can't overmatch a ship you still have a pretty good chance of crushing them with AP if they don't angle enough.

My favourite ship in the entire game is the humble tier IV Yuubari for which i paid something around 3 bucks couple years back.

She is a special one, good AA at tier 4, and her 610mm torpedos hurt.

Yeh I got the Yubari back before the CV rework to give me something that could annoy aircraft much better than the Kuma. And the twin turrets helped when kiting DDs.

Yubari was my first Premium in Legends (Tier 3 there) and, after a rough slow start, I have gotten very fond of her. Imo, the main thing is that you can't succeed by running her as a generic cruiser. Get out on a flank and rack up the Citadels, or simply harass from long-range. Been a few BBs that completely lost their #### after spending time getting continuously tagged by her guns at extreme range. Not a lot of damage, but just that ongoing double thump, like the Chinese Water Torture. :)

Love the Okhotnik. I have a fondness for oddball Premiums in general, but the Okkie is the oddest of them all. She is arguably the most UN-Destroyer-like DD in the game, but if she can get into close torp range ..... it doesn't matter what the other guy might be driving, because It Is Over.

I find it hard to justify getting the hood when Duke of York is obtainable for coal. Plus I find the guns more accurate on the doy but maybe that’s just me. Definitely a good shop but also requires abit more skill to use

Hood has lots of things Duke doesn't. The overmatch is a huge advantage when fighting other BBs, and the guns are more accurate (better base dispersion and 1.9 sigma vs DoY's 1.8). More importantly, Hood gets upper belt and deck armor thicker than 27mm and your firing angles are way better, so you can use all your guns without getting smashed.

My experience on EU differs greatly to yours. MM is mostly double uptiered at T8. The day I logged, I played 15 matches, 13 were uptiered of which 11 were double uptiered. I stick to ranked at T8 now, Kidd great on paper, less so when constantly double uptiered into radar (for a noob like me). Warspite is clearly a good ship, however T6 is full of sweats in DD's. 20kn V 40Kn running round you invisibly spamming torps, I parked that. Cheap premium...Aigle. Can't beat them, join them.

I thought I was starting to figure out DDs until I got my first radar match. 10 to 15 seconds is one thing, but full 30 seconds of radar when stealth is your thing, well I feel you man it's rough.

High-tier DDs are in a rough spot indeed, for every fun match there is two or three with tier X carrier and several radars.

Chinese Hianghe is super cheap too, used to be half priced for long time. Best AA rating for tier 6, crawling smoke and decent torpedo, and less than 9km concealment

Can't complain about the list. When Japanese BBs are 2x the points in weekend Naval Battles, I bring out my HYUGA, absolutely zero gripes about her. My other 'GO TO' ship, not on the list (still think there needs to be an Honorable Mentions list) is the T6 HMS LONDON. Who can argue with 8" guns, Torps, Smoke, Hydro, AND a Repair ALL wrapped up in a T6 hull ?

Besides hyuga, I actually guessed this list and agree. I personally would have put Warspite in a place, but the same deal I joined the oc side from Legends last year and bought 2 premiums. My first was Maya as it wasn't on legends, and my 2nd was arp takao. Since that and a little on Christmas crates (I pulled the fujin from, is that rare?) I don't spend like Amy money. I also very much agree with this list SL. Well done

I don’t remember what the reason was, but I came back to WoWs after a good break of at least a year and I had a mission in my mission list that rewarded a Kidd. I thought it was like a rental or something (like I was more used to in WoT) but after completing the mission (play something like 50 battles in 30 days) I just got a Kidd in my port.

The Hood is a good ship but it has a high skill level to get the most out of it and it suffers from only having 2 guns per turret

Dunkerque, my go to for T6 ranked. One of the least expensive t6 bbs, no gimmicks just a good reliable performer. I'm a bit of a sucker for all forward designs, keep all your firepower on target all the time!

It's a surprisingly solid ship, probably the second most fun T6 BB since it's predictable - and enemies tend to underestimate it.

Nah, all forward facing gun design is only useful when you have armor that can bounce other BB's AP, and Dunkerque gets overmatched everywhere by BBs with 15 inch and larger shells, which are VERY common in ranked (Warspite, Mutsu, W.V. 41, Renown and Repulse)

@@Rubber10 That is one downside of the ship, but not every opponent you go up against is one that can overmatch you. If you end up in the chase position against something like a gneisenau, sure he can overmatch you, but with 33% of his guns vs 100% of yours

I have and agree that the Kidd, Atago and Hood are very good ships. I still have to get the other two in the list. A friend of mine loves his Kidd so much, it´s his most played ship. He has over 5 million experience on that boat and he´s really good in it. I have it as well as I said, but I mainly take it out when I don´t want to be bothered by CVs. Yes a CV might make a pass or two at the Kidd, but after you kill all his planes, he usually goes after someone else for the rest of the game.

My list would look a bit different - with a lot more T6 since they are cheaper and tend to be more unique. 1) Ise - it's not the strongest T6 BB, but the gameplay with the planes is so much more dynamic than other BBs. 2) Dunkerque - reliable and easy to play battlecruiser, well rounded ship and less random than most BBs at those tiers. 3) Molotov - the 180mm guns at T6 are just fun. It's a true cruiser, no hgiding in smoke or anything, not the most forgiving ship for newbies. 4) Atlanta - it's by far my most played ship and the one I play best. It's great fun but definitely a more offensive build than the more forgiving Flint. 5) Mainz - imo the second best T8 cruiser and very satisfying to be able to take on just about any ship you encounter, from DD to BB, it'll outgun anything, just try not to get hit too much in return.

@@lynchs2441 It really doesn't function much like a CV though, at least not if the player is somewhat competent. The planes are for when there isn't much else to do, ideally used at medium ranges. The main source of damage are still the guns, the torps aren't that strong. The planes can spot, but unlike a CV you also have a ship to play, so usually that's not really worth it. The guns aren't great and the angles of the rear turrets are awful, it's not really a great BB either. Overall it's a balanced ship with a unique playstyle and strenghts&weaknesses that is quite fun - which is imo what a premium should be.

Rochester probably isn't worth it and overall Baltimore is probably better. Sims is also not all that great these days. Not bad, but there are many better options. And Kidd is good, but Cossack is probably better if you're after the best T8 DD.

Honestly, Sims was before I saw kidd. I knew about both. I'm glad that atago has been on my wishlist since I first got the game in 2015. I suck at dd gameplay as well, kidd looks way nicer than sims. I'll just have to see what I can afford

Want a premium US destroyer to boost your captain training? Get a Sims it has the highest built in xp multiplier in the game, and it will help you gain xp on your captain faster. Is the Sims 'competitive' ... I did fine in mine, granted that was a long time ago but the basic attributes it has haven't changed -> decent concealment, speed, excellent handling, decent guns, sea mines as torpedo's. But it's tier 7 so you're basically seal clubbing anyway. Warspite is a good ship, little squishy but good guns. And not to expensive either. Arizona is a better New Mexico, and cheap. Heck even some of the tier 5 premiums are fun and would make great captain trainers ( not really credit grinders though ). Marblehead + Murmansk... Where Murmansk is ofc the far superior ship. Kirov isn't bad either. Molotov is hilarious, literal Donskoi guns at tier 5. And Okhotnik.. the sheer length of the thing it's hilarious to play. I never realized Atago now was 'cheap'. I mean, yeah the ARP one was free... but that doesn't get a premium multiplier afaik?

Mutsu is a ship I've never got on with, RNG doesn't like my Mutsu, but Hood and Hyuga are very underrated ships. Atago and Kidd are monsters, although Cossack is the T8 Prem DD of choice for me.

Arizona is great for making credits. Nice guns good armor, just slow. I try to stay as far in the middle of the map as the match allows me to make up for it and have great games in it.

The tier 7 Ashitake is also a good one, although her AA is very poor, and her side plating is more squishy than the Amagi. Ashitake still has the Amagi's 410 mm guns and the large amount of 140 mm casement guns typical of the Amagi class. Although her armor is poorer then the amagi, angleing right, can bounce most battleship shells. she is also fast at around 30 knots, so she can make her away around.

Hyuga with Yamamoto allows for good turret traverse. You can sit mid to long range and use HE to burn down BBs and large cruisers in the first part of the match. She has so many guns i half them up and fire away every 15 seconds. I would submit the Kidd is the best in your list, a powerful T8!!

Being mostly CoOp I decided to get the Black rather than the Kidd as the Kidd was refered to more as a support DD in Randoms. Which nationality has the best overall assortment of Preimum ships? For someone who is looking to pick a line they want to pick as their prefered one. I didn't look it up but it seems the Germans have alot. I hear that WG is going to have a trade in program comming that might be a good way to get ships like the Minegumo economically. The video I was was a bit convoluted and I did not follow it.

I would replace mutsu. The guns troll you more often than they troll the enemy, mostly due to the shells either perfoming too well and overpenetrates, or too porly and shattering. Ashitaka is kinda a bit the same in concept as mutsu just a tier higher and while she would not be in my top 5 I do think she is better. Atago is good but not that "cheap" ;) I completely agree on hyuga. Kidd is absolutely great, and the second cheapest of the tier 8 premium though tier 8 by itselt if not cheap imo :) But on top of that you can actully get her for free with some luck and/or patience if you buy the community token chest thingies in armory. I think they are 3K a pop or something with a 4% droprate of some tier 6,7 and 8 ships including Kidd. though you need warspite in this list she is fantastic :)

SLM: "15 inch guns are wildly large for a tier 7 battleship to have." Collingwood: "Am I a joke to you?" Hood is underrated, but 15 inch guns are pretty pedestrian at 7. The guns are special because of the improved AP penetration angles, not the overmatch. The speed, armor, and improved AP pen mean Hood is really good at running around the map and taking pot shots at guys who think they are angled. Hood says lol, no, think again.

If you're actually going to spend money; I'd recommend the Ark Royal. Decent damage, basically only gets deplaned if double-upped. And its carpet bombers are excellent against DDs.

Btw, it's entirely possible to get Kidd for free! You can get it in armory in the shipmates chest container, which can be bought for community tokens! It takes quite a bit of time but is worth it in my opinion.

Got my Mutsu from a container and i really don't like that ship. It is kinda squishy but the guns are the real problem. Not only are they inaccurate and inconsistent, they also have garbage penetration. ps. i wrote that comment before watching the Mutsu segment of the video lol

Hyuuga has 12 guns, not 10... But otherwise yeah, it's a very strong ship. It's actually fairly tanky, too. The citadel is relatively small, and the giant 32mm torpedo bulge absorbs a lot of damage. I wouldn't call any of these ships cheap however. 20 to 30 euros each, it's very expensive. There is nothing cheap above tier IV or V... I really like Yuubari and Mikasa. Nice ships to play if you want to have some silly and very casual games, especially to end a bad session.

I'm not sure I could agree that Atago is good. She's okay. She's weaker than a 155mm armed Mogami, and only wins vs a 203mm Mogami because of the heal. Meanwhile she loses vs basically every other tech tree T8 CA fairly hard. She just simply has to long of a reload for me personally to consider her a good ship and worth buying. It doesn't help matters that her only real selling point over the T7 Myoko is that she has a heal, and a slightly better turret layout. Keep in mind that 16 second reload is 2 seconds longer than what Myoko gets at T7. Now if you wanted a T8 Cruiser that's not terribly expensive Ochakov is a thing. At least using Canadian prices she's only 300 doubloons or about a dollar-ish more. For that extra bit of money you get a radar Cruiser with a decent duration 10km radar, a 9km detect range, and 8 fairly rapid fire 152mm guns. Sure she doesn't get a heal, but lets be real here. A radar is worth far more than a heal, and a stealth radar is worth even more. If you want an even more bang for your buck Cruiser Indianapolis is a great choice. T7 10km radar with a good duration, decent but not great rate of fire on her guns, and American AP. Honestly in a pure 1v1 I'd actually put my money on Indy wining vs Atago, and in terms of team play Indy also wins. At this point in the games development Atago is just kind of meh. She was never amazing, she was always just kind of okay, and these days she just doesn't have the fire power to keep up.

Okay here is a proper list of top 5 cheap ships to get and why. 5. Charleston - By far the most OP cruiser at tier III, it enjoys a large health pool, lot of guns and good range and fire rate. 4. Mikasa - The only BB at tier II and just a fun ship to play. You will find the main battery frustrating at times but the secondaries are hilariously good for the tier and of course being a BB you enjoy a LOT more health and a heal which no other ship has at the tier. 3. Kidd - The only boat the both me and Sea Lord have on both our lists. The Kidd is basically a Fletcher with Benson torps and a heal but at tier VIII which is very nice. Also great AA for a DD and pretty good concealment too. All in all a really fun DD to play. 2. Atlanta - One of the most fun ships to play in the game to this day. It is still an absolute terror to DD's and BB's alike. It enjoys an excellent rate of fire, good AA, good concealment, and a radar. It lacks a heal and large health pool but once you learn to play it you will have a blast. 1. (OG) Scharnhorst - The Scharn is still the Scharn and is just a great all around ship at its tier. Excellent at dealing with cruisers especially, it enjoys good speed, good armor, great reload on the main battery, good secondaries and torpedoes. It is pretty much the total fun package and better than the stupid and unnecessary '43 version which in my opinion is worse than the original. Honorable mentions: Agincourt, Arizona, Warspite, Atago and Loyang.
