I have 0 regrets getting Plymouth for my first (and only) steel ship. Radar, Smoke, Hydro, and 16 Short-fuse AP shells per salvo. (Plus torpedoes and a heal.) God have mercy on destroyers that get too close. Surprised Mecklenburg wasn't on here.

For the Austin: Get the skill where when your AA is active (as in shooting at planes) your reload booster comes back online faster by 50%. It's fun because BB players tend to use ASW nowadays to try and get a feel of where the ship is that is spotting them

Buy R.Lauria it’s better than Shiki and I would say it is as good as Bourgogne.

@@smaug9617 I am stuck between mecklenberg, R Lauria, and Bourgogne. I already have the German and French legendary commander. But the Lauria does sound really good. I do enjoy absolutely smashing enemy ships. But everyone keeps spouting that Bourgogne is the best.

Hadn't played my Atago/Takeo for a long time. Were two of my favorites. Took it out into Mode shuffle and had 5 great games. Even though I was only tier 8, was in top 2-7 in all of the games and had a blast. Thanks for reminding me what a great ship these are.

i'm a co-op main, and have been gathering Steel from containers, battlepasses and snowflake events. got Bourgogne 1st then R.Lauria when i had a 25% coupon available and have currently another 21K,

The Austin is a tier X 'DD with a citadel'. All of the 'DDs with a citadel' are fun ships and the Pan-Asian tech tree has a cruiser branch that is all 'DDs with a citadel', from tier VI to tier X. The only 'DD with a citadel' that comes with a major caveat is the tier X French Research Bureau ship Colbert, as the Colbert lacks torpedoes. If it had a USS Georgia style engine boost, the ultimate expression of a "DD with a citadel" could be the USS Illinois, but it is too slow and the 8" guns cannot engage aircraft. The best 'DD with a citadel' was the Smolensk, before the commander rework made boosting the range of DD caliber main guns exclusively for DD commanders (which allowed German DDs with 15 cm guns to get the boost). The Smolensk had good enough ballistics to hit out to the boosted maximum range of 19.2 km. I believe that I have all of 'DDs with citadels', except for the tier X Pan-Asian Jinan. The only one that I find a bit disappointing is the Flint, as it did not get a range buff after the commander rework, so, at 12.4 km as its main gun range, it is almost outranged by the secondary batteries of some BBs with secondary builds (I remember taking an Atlanta with 11 km main gun range and encountering a Massachusetts. It went badly). My steel ships are the Austin, Stalingrad, and Bourgogne.

The Mecklenburg is one of my favorite BBs in the game. I also had the Stalin and recently got the Z-42. Not feeling the DD yet though. Complicated to play it right methinks

There is really no bad steel ship (makes sense) I have gotten four out of my 15,000 battle grind so far. Bourgogne was the first and even though I am just really learning her, she would be my first again. Got the Ragnar and Gato next. Both are good but just too boring for me. Traded them for the Minegumo and Johan de Witt in the last trade event. Maybe they are not quite as good but they are a hell of a lot more fun to play. Just got the Lauria. Still learning her but I love her. With brisk she motors at 40 plus knots without any speed boost. Insane. The only weird thing is her SAP is weak vs a DD but the Piemonte just seems to disintegrate them with a few hits.

I hate ranked and my clan doesn't do clan battles, so I rarely get steel. I picked up the Mecklenburg a while back and will get the Bourgogne this week, but I don't particularly enjoy or play max tier as it serves me no purpose progressively. It's also where all the sweaty tryhards hang out in their divisions trying to troll people.

its fun if you like AP gunboat destroyers, get the Z-42 if you specifically want one good vs destroyers, or the Ragnar if you want to be assassinating cruisers. The one shot potential with a full ap salvo against enemy destroyers is hard to beat

Guys play Clan battles, ranked and get 25 division stars. You can get 500 div stars 4 times a year for 2000 steel. Ranked you can get 600 steel every two weeks with bonze or 15600 steel a year. For silver you have the 800 from going through bronze four times and another 200 per two weeks or up to 24400 steel per year. Then clan battles having 2750 steel per the first three levels four times a year. So the first tier is 11000 steel for the year and 22000 for the second level for the year total. So just getting div stars, ranked at bronxe and the first level of clan battles it is 28600 steel a year. Now getting silver and the second level of clan battles is 46400 steel a year. This is not counting any containers, the monthly battle pass or what ever it is called now.

Mecklenburg was the first steel ship I got, and no regrets what so ever. Seems best played with a main gun build but can be fun with a secondary build as well, great ship.

I picked up Bourgogne for my first steel ship because everyone was all full of how good she is... what a waste of a ship pick. Ok, she's a better Alsace, but that's it, it's not a tier 10 ship, it's just a slightly better tier 9. It doesn't really matter how accurate the guns are if the shells ricochet or shatter when you hit. I really do wish I'd taken anything other than Alsace+.

I now have 6 steel ships and I just added the X.R.Lauria to the collection - I just wished it had high-speed smoke like the Italian destroyers or cruisers have. I have the Shikishima and Incomparable battleships and the next ship will be another battleship in 7,000 steel time ~ just have not made my mind up about which one to get out of the Bourgogne, Mecklenburg or Komissar. The other steel ships I have are the Plymouth (hard to play ship and very outgunned & uses AP only), Austin (plays like the Smolensk with no smoke screen but more of a meme when you hit the funny button) Stalingrad (my first and most used steel ship even in its nerfed state it is still a very good ship)

Plymouth is absurdly powerful. It sacrifices some things Vs minotaur, but overall is a beast, especially in ranked.
