You can go to Guwahati River-front (with a fee or Starbucks, you will understand once you are there) for the river view and sunset! Don't miss Upper Assam tea districts (try a garden bungalow) and ethnic villages such as Nam Phake, etc.! National parks are close at the moment though! Try few archaeological sites such as Madan Kamdev or Deopahar, etc. Try Sivasagar Ahom palaces........Charaideo Moidams (royal burial mounds).................

Definitely go to Meghalaya, you should see the living root bridges. Also go to some of the caves, they have one filled with fossils in the walls you can see. If you want to try the village life your more than welcome to stay at our house in the riangdo area. We are in the USA and will be retiring in a few years to the village. The views of the rice fields are amazing.
