They really couldn’t fight on because Aegon II grew too weak, and after he died, it was pretty much game over for him.

The greens didn’t have a claim to the throne because all of the male line descendants of Queen Allicent were dead. The only one left was King Aegon II’s daughter Jahaera and making her queen would basically make the war pointless because this was about males coming before females in the line of succession.

They lost their dragons, their army's, and finally there male heirs and now had the host of winter at their door, men who know that they could not return home so better to die in the south. The greens lost, they had no tricks left to play.

The official reason they stated was they were worried viewers would confuse House Velaryon with Targaryen with to many characters looking simular. Which i can kinda understand i know people who got confused between Targaryen’s and Lannister’s in GoT. But obviously there is more to it than that reason there were a lot of factors at play. Thats the only thing thats been publicly stated

@@Red-90 I imagine it would look a bit odd since the demographic of westeros contains mostly Europeans with flamboyant hair and eye colour. Whereas only the salty dornish ( the southern most part of dorne ) contains people of dark/tanned skin. So yeah it does look extremely odd to see the showrunners turn a major family that does not even originate from the summer isles to be black.

Are you referring to Laenor Velaryon? If yes, he died several years before the civil war/ dance of dragons. Spoiler: Then his wife Rhaenyra married her uncle, Daemon Targaryen. They had 2 surviving children, Aegon (the younger, later became Aegon III) and Viserys (was Hand of Aegon III and later became Viserys II). Rhaenyra & Daemon are ancestors of Daenerys (GOT).

@@gojonissan5567 Corlys sided with Rhaenyra's grp (the blacks) bcos his grandsons are sons of Rhaenyra. Princess Rhaenys (his wife) & her dragon died during the war/ dance of dragons.

@@gojonissan5567 I've forgotten the details. I haven't read the books but I've read the ASOIAF wiki. I think he fought w/ his ships, but am not sure. I think his ships barricaded the sea so that ships from Bravos or Essos couldn't pass to King's Landing (disrupted trade & supplies).
