My sister makes great drinks from them. She has a few trees growing outside of her house of the larger variety of custard apples. You have to beat the chooks (chicken) when they fall to the ground. They are yummy. Us Aussies and the South Pacific Islanders call them custard apples.

Hey Pepe do you have Acai palms?

I don't grow them sorry.

I’ve heard them call soursop the ‘Dutch durian’ in Indonesia before. Has he named and grafted the jackfruit yet? I notice he’s got some new reds on his website.
@Pepesplants Жыл бұрын
It's been a while so yes maybe he has a few available. Will ask next time I see him. Take care.
@punaforager Жыл бұрын
@@Pepesplants he had a few and I purchased one. He has it labeled ‘Pepe’s video’… fingers crossed. I live in Hawaii and we have pathetic jackfruit selections here, and they are very difficult to get even if you wanted one.

Great video. did he ever graft some of these trees what is the name of this jack fruit does he sell them.

I think he did. Don't know the name he gave them.

Julian is propagating that Jackfruit but not ready yet. The Soursop should be available in the spring.

Julian said that you don’t have to pollinate, but after the shells fall off, the fruit doesn’t grow. Looks like I may have to pollinate it myself. I live in south Florida, so it’s not that windy here.
@Pepesplants5 жыл бұрын
Pollinating by hand is always a plus. The Miami Soursop tree produces many flowers and so less need to hand pollinate. Not all Soursops behave that way.

Hey Pepe, is it safe to transplant soursop or mango trees in the winter time. I have a mini farm in Ft. Lauderdale.
@Pepesplants3 жыл бұрын
To a container yes. I would wait till spring for in ground planting. Container plants bring indoors when below 45 degrees to be safe.
@ingarrajoey5 жыл бұрын
Great video 👍. I've been contemplating venturing into the land of guanabana. Did Julian say whether or not it would be suitable for a container?
@Pepesplants5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can and then bring inside on those cold nights. I have several in 15 and 25 gal pots flowering now. Thanks for watching. :-)

@@Pepesplants I was wondering if the next time you talk to Julian if you can ask if he'd be willing to sell a couple of scions from the jackfruit. If not it's all good. I'm only asking because I happen to have about 30 seedlings that are ready to graft. Let me know. Thank you 🙂
@Pepesplants5 жыл бұрын
No problem, I will. Probably in about 45 days I will be getting some for me to graft and I will get some for you too. Let you know when. Take care.

Where can I purchase the soursop and jackfruit seedlings?
Hi Pepe, off the topic but what kind of soil is good for coconut trees? 🌴
@Pepesplants3 жыл бұрын
They grow well along beaches so sandy soil is fine. In pots use a quality potting soil. Hope that helps.
@aniyahdilovelilioness7473 жыл бұрын
@@Pepesplants Yes that helps. What determines if the soil is good quality? Should I mix it?
@jkeyj78754 жыл бұрын
Can u clarify is it protogynous or protandrous?
@Pepesplants4 жыл бұрын
The flowers are perfect with male and female parts. The pollination is about timing and receptiveness of the ovary. Protandrous pertains to maturity of the male part if I am not mistaken. Protogynous would be referring to the female mature stage. My point here is the flower has both parts and receptivity of the ovary to the pollen from the anthers. Hermaphrodite flowers.
