Bread is too dry for me, if I eat too much of it (like one week consists of only bread) I will get stomach hurt. Also I think it's the side food that counts too. We had a long history eating with rice so the side food is suitable to eat with rice (and they are very very delicious), we can't eat those side food with bread (will not match) and that will be such a pity (sorry for the broken english...)

Dude what do you think? Google translate is pretty advanced, it can translate simple conversations almost perfectly because many of the phrases were already used somewhere. But it often fails at long and complex sentences. I have many examples where you can see that the english subtitles were just put into a translator (probably google translate) for german for example which is cathys first language.

It's not about the bread, smartass! Women in Japan are treatened less than men, so that was just an example. She is expecting if she lives with him he would treat her less, asking her to eat what he eats, like what he likes, live where he lives. It's what she know from her own culture.

It might be because of the fact more and more men in Japan are choosing to look and act more effeminate (Not saying all their men are doing this, but it's starting to get worse). Most straight women don't want to date a man who may as well be another woman.

@Percival Hans I've tried soy products before. They always taste like crap. Set critters on fire, for their meat is delicious. *The cute ones deserve it* On a side note, I don't think soy products have anything to do with this pandemic. After all, eastern Asians have been eating soy products for a long time now and this problem is only very recent (within the last 50 years or so). The real problem is libertarianism and the "progressive left mentality." Let's face it, effeminate-acting and gay men hundreds of years did *not* get access to women to have offspring and in most cases were straight up murdered for their behavior. But now? Now they're being empowered, are allowed to adopt children, to be allowed to spread their mentality to other young people who don't know any better. Honestly, a culling should be performed.

@@unclesheogorath1960 This sounds like an American problem. Japan is still largely conservative. Japanese men have always worn makeup since the era of the Samurai. That couldn't be the problem. I think the women have very high standards, and with the tank in the economy, men can't easily get those high paying jobs they used to be able to get. The preference to be more effeminate doesn't just come out of nowhere. There's a reason.
@kipperjd

Something that I’ve noticed is how women generally wouldn’t mind dating a foreigner because men usually are more open about how they feel and express it. They want more than just quietly being with someone. Men in the other hand say that foreign women are aggressive and they would prefer someone more quiet. Just noticed that despite usually dating inside their own race and culture, they both want completely different things. (Wonder why it’s so crazy to some of these men that women are more than just being conservative and not expressing their opinions 🤔🤔) Of course these are only based off the multiple videos of these interviews that I just binged so I’m not trying to “all men” or something, don’t get me wrong.

Yeah I always see this kind of answer in Japanese interviews related to stuff like their ideal partner. I feel like the issue is stereotyping foreigners (women idealizing foreign men, whilst men seeing them as loud and too agressive) and not enough communication/knowledge between the two genders it seems. I don't wanna jump to conclusions, but I feel like this is one of the reasons a lot of Japanese people are so lonely. They can't even find desire in their own people sometimes.

japanese poeple are very conservative, and care alot about their own culture. they say they would marry a foreigner but they would quickly change their mind once they are ACTUALLY in that situation. from far they admire oversees and they like to travel but that is it. its like they love disneyland , but at the end of the day they like to come back home and enjoy their misosoup and talkshows lol (just and example)

Who doesnt care about their own culture? If you get into an inter racial marriage especially with something like marrying a foreigner, you would expect one of them to adapt to the others culture, these marriages dont last long unless the other person can adapt and since a lot of westerners (brits like myself) are used to multi culturalism, it's a lot easier to adapt to another culture. I could probably live in japan and adapt to the culture pretty quickly if i ever decided to live there, i cannot imagine it would be as easy for a japanese native to move to my country (scotland). Then again it probably helps i watch channels like this haha

This may not be the same, but I'm going to explain, anyway. My husband grew up more in the country, while I grew up more in the city. We both were born in America, but he's more comfortable around guns than I am. In the city, practices with guns are not that common. With my husband and his country background, guns are second nature (LOL second Ammendment). I learned how to be more adapting, in the wild than I ever did, in the city. Part of being in a relationship is about sacrifice.

I would love to marry a Japanese girl, they are very beautiful and kind. Some of my male Japanese friends say that Japanese girls tend to pretend they are dumb, but most of my female Japanese friends are really smart, so that is another thing I admire about them. And most Japanese girls I have talked to seem to seek like a romantic life, and I kind of like the idea of being adventurous and doing a lot of stuff together and being romantic, if it makes them happy. But I do agree with the one girl in the video: unless you are in Japan, it is kind of difficult to get to know one another, even if you talk to each other for awhile.

Japanese girls can be a little naive. Foreign guys approach you with confidence because they know they can get what they want. Go to any bar frequented by foreigners and you can see the confidence oozing from the guys. Guys who, to put it bluntly, wouldn't get a glance from a girl in their own countries. Based on my experiences in Japan, knowing both foreign guys and Japanese girls in relationships with foreign guys, i'd guess that the number of girls that are cheated on whilst in international relationships is above average. Either way, given the small number of Japanese people that actually marry foreign people, compared to the number that have dated one... there must be a change of attitude somewhere down the line. I know more Japanese girls that have married Japanese guys after dating a foreigner than I do girls who've gone on to marry their foreign boyfriends. No matter what they say when asked about it, there's still stigma involved with international marriages in Japan. I'm a foreign guy, in a long-term relationship with a Japanese girl who has a daughter. After a few years together I think of my gf's daughter as my own, but for the first couple of years or so of our relationship I didn't go to any of my girlfriend's daughter's school events because if other kids or their parents found out then she'd likely have been bullied, and the way that the parents and even school staff speak about you is no better. I was just my girlfriend's "English teacher" for a long time, certainly before we properly moved in together. Nowadays most people know about us in our area, and we've weathered the worst of the storm, but there are people we used to consider friends who we no longer speak to. There is very obviously still a huge portion of Japanese society that struggles with the concept of international marriages, more so than videos like this lead you to believe. For a foreigner, getting into a relationship is very easy, but when it actually comes down to it I feel that most Japanese people would rather marry another Japanese person. With that in mind, you have to question the motives for the relationship.

The bread thing was really funny to me! In Puerto Rico (like in many countries) it is very common to eat bread everyday or add it to any meal like rice, meats, pasta, etc. When hurricane María hit us I remember the first major panicking people had was that bread ran out quickly and bakeries couldn't recover in time for people to buy more! Sure, later people adapted to what was available but you could see the misery people were in (myself included). People would wake up at 3am to make lines in the bakeries and the bread would be sold out by 7am x"D In fact, gonna have a tuna sandwich right now lol Sorry for any English mistakes I speak Spanish. It is interesting how typically the women replied yes and the men replied no. It seems to be indicative of the preferences of each gender, as well as their image of the ideal partner. The women seem open to wanting a strong and masculine partner (a very universal thing) whereas the men seem frightened at the idea of a strong-willed or independent woman as their partner. I understand in Japan the men (and women) can be quite shy in these matters, and so they prefer women who make them feel more manly and powerful in that regard - in which case it is easy to see how a foreign woman could intimidate them. It is a shame, however. Would be nice to see more Japanese men with open minds.

The part that I think is a bit crazy is that there seems to be this assumption that it is proper for people visiting from another culture, then know about and behave as if they were raised in the culture they are often encountering for the first time. To me, one of the beautiful things about humanity is the differences. There is not one way that is correct and all other ways are incorrect. I think the understanding of cultural differences flows in both directions. So someone visiting another culture should put out some effort to learn the basic customs but expecting them to know it all is unreasonable. At the same time, the people from the country being visited should EXPECT that the visitors will have their own cultural norms and behaviors and not expect them to have mastered another culture for use in a two week long vacation. But as with most things.... humans are quite irrational and unreasonable and will seek to find a reason to criticize others at any opportunity.

thats what I also emphasize in my comments.....either eurasian or amerasian.....I call them hapa where I reside. they have this unique look....more like a fair skinned white person with dark brown or blonde hair.......but the dead giveaway, they got asian eyes. But for the asian men, dont expect hapa girl to marry japanese, she'd probably marry caucasian and her brother probably marry asian as well.

“女々しくない" そうですねー草食男子問題あるね。A lot of Japanese women have a "escape from Japan at all costs" mentality - and are keen to marry a foreigner for that reason. That's super lucky for the chosen foreigner man because Japanese woman are the very best mothers and wives.

The waitress part and being friendly made me laugh 😂 I mean most other countries receive tips, so to get a lot of “extra” tips you need to be friendly and polite. That would be the main reason for being friendly to the customer I guess 😅

Meeting Japanese girls isn't a problem in Japan, its the language issue that is the biggest hurdle. I suspect the next issue is where do a mixed couple live locally or abroad, finding work that pays a decent salary for a foreigner outside of English teaching is hard.

Yeah but luckily with me I speak comversational Japanese and i'm at intermediate level but I've been learning Japanese since middle school so I understand the grammar really well. I have a Puerto Rican friend who moved to Japan and married his girl who was Japanese and is with their daughter and he told me how easy they are to talk to! I'm Dominican but I prefer Japanese girls over Dominican girls. I just know what to expect from Dominican girls so it bores me. I would want something unique and different.

@@acmelbourne He is a server. He works at a restaurant but he's looking into doing his own business over there as well. Thats what does. As far as with me, i'm currently working to save money for the JET program after I go back to finish 2 years for my Bachelors to teach English in Japanese schools as an ALT and all you need is a Bachelors in any area of study to apply! Plus you get a lot of benefits and can stay in Japan as an ALT on the JET progran up to 5 years and after your time with the program, the program helps you find work in japan if you want to stay in the country and there's a big network of people all over the world who do JET so you can make connections and friends with them too and they can help you find jobs in Japan or other places too so that's my goal. This program is better than study abroad because you get to work and live in Japan. You go through orientation after the interview and application for JET and they help you find an apartment on JET. My dream is to go to Japan and doing this program is the dream!

As a hafu myself growing up in Japan half my childhood still speaking Japanese fluently, the Japanese women which came to the United States would not accept a date from me. I wondered why and realized that the Japanese women were afraid because I spoke fluent Japanese that I would treat them like Japanese men. I was brought up by my Japanese mother to be a gentleman. I had the best of both worlds Western openness and expression of love but understanding some of the pitfalls of Japanese culture. Growing up several my friends were also hafu. It is interesting to me depending on the Family how much of the Japanese they embraced.

I've been searching for ways to talk to japanese women becuase yes Japanese women attract me more than women in the united states and some of us actually try to understand japanese culture becuase some people like me LOOOOVE learning diffrent cultures from other countries as well as learn different languages like right now I'm learning to speak japanese spanish french and german. I will say this that if you are interested in any american men it can be a 50-50 gamble you either get the no facial hair skinny tiny guys or the big brawny hairy guy that has a beard an such its always best to do some research before diving in.

Both yes and no. Learning about it is just as interesting as comparing things you already know. But I did indeed say that *differences* are intellectually fulfilling (or maybe I should've said stimulating). I like the idea of "cultural differences" in general, which was a reference / response to some comments in the video, since some were afraid of cultural differences. When I'm saying that differences are stimulating, I mean political differences, opinions, tastes, traditions and of course culture too... Differences are stimulating, otherwise you'll end up in an echo chamber.
