Thoroughly enjoyed that, perfect background for planning crazy trips I'll never do.

congrats on the record, and the video. I found myself entertained throughout the two hours, would love to see extra content about this trip too. Also I would watch a video about any adventure like this even if it failed, so don't feel the need to refrain from posting an incomplete video.

Germany's sign said "Bundesrepublik Deutschland", or "Federal Republic of Germany". The "Rhineland" sign you saw was probably for Rheinland-Pfalz (occasionally anglicized as Rhineland-Palatinate), one of Germany's 16 federal states (Bundeslander in German).

First of all congrats. Clearly took a lot of planning that could have been ruined by one flight delay. Curious if you considered more driving vs flying. Maybe harder since it was just you due to sleep deprivation? But curious if you explored a faster route that would only be possible with more than 1 person so you could take turns sleeping in the car

Thanks! To answer your question: I think this was pretty close to the optimal mix of flying and driving, and the only way I would really improve the route in a perfect world would be to make the connections tighter. I really think you're heavily constrained by the countries that are large and far from one another. Cyprus, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, and even Scandinavia and the Balkans are just too large and remote to realistically drive through. The only place driving makes much sense is in central-eastern Europe and Benelux because (a) those regions' airports are smaller and have fewer flights and (b) because their borders are so tightly crammed together that you can pick them up in quick succession. Totally agree with your thought process and think there's a lot of efficiency to gain by finding a balance between driving and flying, but luckily I think the EU is quite nicely positioned right at the edge of what is possible for an unassisted, sleepless run.

I've been watching too much Jet Lag; I keep expecting you to have to, like, balance a candy bar on your nose or toss some local confectionary into a cup.

Haha, this is definitely heavily Jet Lag inspired. Harder to do challenges when it's a time trial rather than a head to head competition. Maybe in the future 🤔

Do you think you might try to do this with all 50 states someday? Or do the highpoints take priority?
@grtshw12 күн бұрын
Never know! That's been done on youtube before but still inclined to try and beat it if I can ever get the time and resources (and assistance - way harder to stay up for 6 days than it is to stay up for 3 days so will need another crazy person to do it with me). Highpoints are definitely a main priority but more challenging to fit in lately since they are summer-only due to weather.
