Cary Kolat, you are my favorite wrestler to watch. I'm a coach in Noble Oklahoma and with my higher level little league wrestlers and on up to my highschool state medalists we swear by your videos. I hope my kids are lucky enough to meet you someday, they know they owe a lot of success to you. your short and sweet techniques are sent to the to study the night before we drill it in practice. You are making a difference and I'd like to see one of our kids wrestle for Campbell university one day.

This is legal in collegiate wrestling because it's taken from the side. Unless you're belly-to-back you can arch in your throws. You better do your cleans in the gym if you want to pull this off though, especially if you're a big guy. In the speed of a match, technique is never perfect and sweaty bodies slip, so it'll take some power to get this done.

big question. Every time you finished the takedown, you would still be in an arched position. From there where would you go to get out of "danger?" Would you throw your hips over your head to get them to the ground, circle around to the legs "which seems pretty difficult to do from that position" hip down right there? where exactly should i go from that arched position?

Accident story (details are a bit fuzzy- it was 8 years ago and not recorded, so I couldn’t review it) While lifting my opponent he, too late, attempted to hook my leg. Doing so, he kicked out or down wildly, striking my knee cap causing my leg to buckle, stifling the arc. We fell backward with him diagonally on top, his face slamming onto the mat breaking his nose and and a tooth. His nose was fauceting blood and within seconds the entirety of his lower face was wet and crimson, blood dripping off his chin and tears from his eyes. It was nasty and I was penalized.

I tried this my senior year of hs and because my opponent landed the same way in the video, ref didn't call it. I think its because I back arched him to the side.

This question is irrelevant to this video, since I'm becoming a freshman in highschool and I wrestle folkstyle. I have very good high-c's and I have better technique than most kids, but it always seemed like I was weaker than the other kids. Because of this, it is very tough for me to breakdown, pin, or escape from the other person when I am on bottom. I sometimes find that during a match, I dont have enough strength to do a move, or finish a shot. Any moves that you recommend for me that doesn't take a lot of strength and is reliable would be helpful. Thanks!

Back bends. Back bend push-ups. Practicing back arches solo on a crash pad. Practicing back arches on the wrestling mat with a partner facing you but standing outside your stance to your right holding your right hand with his right hand so that when you arch backwards he can lessen your impact on the mat.

@KOLATCOM
@KOLATCOM 8 жыл бұрын
+patrick skinner Slamming is dangerous. Anytime you pick up your opponent you are responsible for returning them safely to the mat. Also, you should save the overhead throws for freestyle or greco because you will be penalized in folkstyle. A bear hug to a trip is a good alternative www.kolat.com/turning-basic-takedowns-into-4-point-moves/freestyle-high-level-dunk-under-to-bear-hug-finish Also, a lateral drop will work.
