I think it would be cool to include abcdef1 for the constructors after ranking the driver pairings! As well as the race result, you could look at issues over car damage (esp. with the cost cap), reliability, lack of running, losing points to rivals etc
@RRedcraftRR
@RRedcraftRR 2 жыл бұрын
That would be cool, but maybe time consuming, perhaps best to rate drivers of each team and then the team. Fans often rate drivers lower when the team performs worse as well, even if its not really the drivers fault. I wonder if also rating the constructor makes its easier to determine the correct rating for drivers by virtue of relative comparison.

Actually, he had his first Grand Chelem because he also led all the laps. I was so surprised they were so sure about the fact that Charles had, for the first time in his career, collected pole, win and FL because he literally did it three weeks ago in Bahrain. It was not so long ago ahahah. The quality is great but from time to time they do make big mistakes.

@@thesaintscorner4490 the thing they said about Alonso and Singapore was correct and it was an actual stat about Grand Chelem. However, they explained that a Grand Chelem is pole, win and FL. That’s obviously not true because, if that was the case, Charles would have gotten his first one in Bahrain at least (he had pole, win and FL but was not the leader for all the laps). I don’t remember what he did in Spa or Monza ‘19. Also, he did not do a Chelem in Bahrain not because Max overtook him (Max was overtaken back right away, so Leclerc was in the lead for those laps) but because, after his second pit stop, Carlos Sainz was first for a couple of laps.

Something to consider: We are 3 races in with brand new cars. We have 20 races to go (that is a full season by itself). ANYTHING can happen as the teams grow and evolve the tech and their understanding of this latest formula. Those first 3 races are simply a warm up at this point... prologue. I have a feeling we will see a ton of evolution, several dissonant highs and lows, along a very crooked road this season.

52:15 I thought so aswell but I looked at the footage again and no part of Strolls car actually leaves the track from what I could see. So there is a tiny bit of white line that Bottas theoretically could have stayed on (although unrealistic) - meaning by the exact wording of the rules it was a legal move. Because there was a flat kerb and tarmac beyond that, forcing Bottas that wide there also wouldn't be deemed dangerous, I think.

The momentum of luck and victory seems to be with Charles. You just know when "the force" is in favour of a particular driver. Its like this Championship is meant for Charles. I am a Carlos fan. But I think his strength lies in putting in consistently high performance and waiting for Leclerc to make the odd mistakes especially is he can follow him closely and put pressure. Carlos can feel the wind is in favour of Leclerc and is trying to hard in a style that is not his and trying to match Leclerc Explosive speed.

Ferrari are low key glad that Sainz tanked in Melbourne because now they can justify making him a Barrichello or Bottas. Who knows if they deliberately ruined Sebastian Vettel’s races in 2020 to get a low constructors finish and get more wind tunnel time for this year. I wouldn’t put anything beneath Ferrari. Why did they have to change Sainz’s steering wheel? Felt like they added to his troubles with that.

People saying that Mercedes are inevitable are wrong in my opinion. Isn't their car slow and draggy because of their design, their rear tires are creating all the drag because their sidepods are so tiny. Porpoising can be fixed with floor upgrades, but how much drag will they be able to eliminate given that teams are allowed very few Aero upgrades throughout the season (tickets or something). It's also quite obvious that all Mercedes customer teams are struggling with lack of power compared to Renault, RBPT and Ferrari. Do correct me if I'm wrong!

the situation with lando didnt seem like he was losing performance, and they were managing an issue. He was lifting and coasting up to the gap of ricciardo to maximise the chance that nothing goes wrong, so Riccardo as told not to put pressure because norris could go faster to keep him behind, but there would be more chance of a DNF.

In 2020, Sakhir GP qualification with that engine less 80 hp to Mercedes and Red Bull combined, Leclerc set 4th fastest and his gap to Verstappen in his RB fastest car only 0.022 sec. And he got POLE in Baku with 2.2 km STRAIGHT and engine LESS 25 HP to Mercedes. Do you think Lewis or Max can make great performance with engine lack power and complicated car? @@jamesmcmillan1809 Ferrari didn't up grade the car while RB and Mercedes did it few times. :) They just up grade the ICE. Their MGU-K still Less 10 HP to Mercedes and RB combined. Someone said they added 5 hp as test in Australia, but it means their MGU-K still LESS 5 hp to Mercedes-RB combined. Plus heavier car than RB! RB will reduce that weight in Imola while Ferrari didn't because there is SPRINT RACE so they won't took any risk by doing a test. Mercedes problem is NOT ENGINE like you thought! But porpoising. They reduce it but the way they reduce it also reduce the aerodynamic and PACE! Ferrari has porpoising and they reduce it, they lose in STRAIGHT Jeddah track for that reason! They are slower than RB cars in straights. That is the reason Leclerc want the car return to Bahrain set up, the car bounching in straight but as fastest as RB. He win in Australia in that way.

@@ArgarSwede Yes and no. If it was last year with consistent ham and ver p1 p2 trades it would have taken almost the entire season to climb back a 2 DNF disadvantage. We could see how many race results of verstappen p1, hamilton p2 were wiped out when verstappen dnf'd last year, its a massive blow, so thats why max made that 45 races comment. But this isn't last year, and if Ferrari suddenly drops the ball hard or dnf's, or RB becomes clearly faster and doesn't dnf anymore Max can definitely win. Which is not impossible since this is a regulation year so, and those are far less predictable than an end of cycle year like last.

20:00 Matt says that Mercedes’ wouldn’t sandbag into a season, BUT Paddy Lowe said on beyond the grid that they never ran at full power between 14-15 to make it look closer than it actually was. Not saying they’re doing it now, just saying that they have done it before :)
@Alexander27463
@Alexander27463 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but the BIG difference is that in 14-and 15 they still were the fastest by far. They weren't pretending to be the 3rd fastest car. But just running the engine not as hard as it could, which also reduces wear and prolongs the engines life
@suckieduckie
@suckieduckie 2 жыл бұрын
That was mainly because they were afraid the FIA would intervene if they ran the engine at full power because the difference was too big. They ran about 80 percent of their engine capacity those years.

6.4-k. Unless he has used intermediate or wet-weather tyres during the race, each driver must use at least two different specifications of dry-weather tyres during the race, at least one of which must be a mandatory dry-weather race tyre specification as defined in Article 6.2(b). Unless a race is suspended and cannot be re-started, failure to comply with this requirement will result in the disqualification of the relevant driver from the race results. I call BS on this Sainz slander...ffs it's one race and it was a series of events that got wrong. Finished P2 and P3 and now we're talking as if he's done. Using that logic Mercedes are poor now so they don't have hope... it has just been 3 races guys.

Until you love the driver people are talking about you don't realise just how harsh and fickle this sport is. I love Sainz but he hasn't been on Charles pace this year and he really needed a big weekend here to take some momentum back and pretty much the opposite happened. It was a disastrous weekend no use in sugar coating it
@exempli646

@@caesaraugustus3749 if he can knack podium finishes while he is "struggling" that's not bad for a challenger, eh. Aussie GP was an anomaly and things weren't under his control. Passing remarks on his ability to challenge or be up there is recency bias.

Agreed! Its quite ridiculous. The only mistake from Sainz is a lack of patience and we’ve seen Charles do the same (Monaco 2019) when things get hard. He was genuinely on the pace this week and that’s why he was so frustrated. That said - I know Carlos will come back stronger and its in moments like this a driver has to decide the kind of person they will be

Finished p2 due max dnf, finished p3 due to safety car after he lost his position the first corner which opened the door to Charles. Australia he was on pace from the jump and things were looking really good, got unlucky in quali but the race was long and could’ve gathered many points.

I understand carlos was in one of the unluckiest weekend of his carcere, bu he commetted 2 big mistakes: in quali he was unlucky, but someone who wants to challenge for the title has to be consistent. Even with new red tires he could have put his car fourth or third, but he went for pole and he ended 9. Then the major mistake in the race
