I would recommend that people register their controller with Microsoft, I was gutted after having several issue, right bumper double clicking, face buttons not working properly and the left thumb stick click became mushy. Anyway I went on the website, registered and It says it was in warranty until 2021, a 2 year warranty. I'm getting my 'free' replacement from Microsoft tomorrow. Maybe pin this because I think people need to know.

__FAKES__ look at the razer wolverine ultimate or tournament. Elite controllers break very easy I don’t know bout the series 2 elite but the first one was terrible. Definitely look around before u make a choice just my suggestion. Personally I own a battle beaver custom hands down best controller I’ve ever used. Also never get a scuf worst thing u could use absolutely garbage

@@aaronseet2738 I bought the elite controller 1 because it fixed a major design flaw of the original xbox 1 controller, the bumper buttons on the original controller couldnt be pushed in closer to the middle of the controller, they only actuated on the outside, and thats not how I push them (having pointer finger arched instead of it laying flat against the shoulder buttons) the elite 1 fixed it completely, I dont use the paddles that often

Aaron Seet I did for the first and again for the 2 I hate the paddles. I prefer to grip the controller. Those paddles are just in the way. I bought it because it's much more comfortable and strong than the stock. And also because I don't care about money. Paying 200 dollars for this or 50 for the stock doesn't make a difference at all in my wallet.

Use QD electronic cleaner. It's great for sensitive electronics. Recent fix a flip phone that got bubble mix spilled all over it. The SIM card was jacked up until I QD sprayed that shit.

I find putting my controller jn the dishwasher cleans it pretty well. If you have ever thought the light on it was annoying this is a good way to turn it off for a while.

I just wanted to add my input.. I’ve had the series 1 and bought the series 2 shortly after release. I absolutely LOVE everything about the series 2. It is a total and absolute upgrade compared to the series 1. However, I don’t know if it was just my particular controller, but out of the box I’ve had massive stick drift on the left joystick, it’s especially noticeable while playing Apex legends as it makes looting extremely difficult. I ordered my replacement and am exchanging it today, thanks to Best Buy’s amazing warranty service. Overall this controller definitely is worth the high sticker price (as long as you don’t have stuck drift). Apart from that problem, my controller feels as great as it did the day I bought it.

I absolutely agree with everything in this video. It’s a great controller for the price, and it’s a huge step up from the previous elite. One suggestion that I’ve seen a bit is to mention how many hours you have put on the controller and what games you play with it. Just to give an example as to what would happen after a certain amount of gameplay. Great vid, great channel. That’s a sub!

Thank you for the superb review and excellent presentation. I purchased this Xbox One Elite Controller Series 2 and after about a week, had to major issues. The first issue was that iI was not getting 40 hours of gaming from the battery, it was more like 2 hours, MAX! The second issue was addressed in this video, it was the Bluetooth. I had to reconnect each and every time when I played my game, Titanfall 2, or worst, it would completely disconnect me. The end result was playing with the cable. I returned it to Best Buy and received a full refund.

I have owned 3 elite controller mk2s and the most common problem was the joystick drift or not registering movement, but they were always covered by the warranty because they broke so early, I had one or two other problems like a sticky A button or a broken back paddle button. But those were not super big problems.

if your controller does have a small stick drift on some games, for example cod, you can change the deadzone however it will mean you have to push the stick more in that direction for it to register. That should remove some stick drift that only happens in some games. Your deadzone may be abit too low on cod which can make it drift a little so try turning it up.

Great video. I got an Elite Series 2 at launch and had problems with the AXYB buttons. The B simply wouldn't register sometimes, and it sat at a weird lower position than the other buttons. I encountered the problem more than 10 times, so I ended up returning it to Best Buy and paying another $40 for another warranty. The second one has been much better, though the left trigger does feel a bit weird. The build quality is not perfect. But for me, the trigger locks, profile settings, and more make gaming much much better. I have also encountered the disconnecting issue but that's happened with all different XBone controllers. Must be something with the radio tech the controllers use.

I asked for a series one for my birthday, I sent my mom the link to a good deal, she bout that exact one, and the sent me a series 2 lol. My only complaint so far is the fact that it’s so expensive but still doesn’t do headset audio over Bluetooth. It seems like something that could even be done in a software patch. Overall I love it, though I thought the rear paddles would be more of an extra button setup so instead of remapping them to your xyab it would be like pl1 pl2 pr1 pr2 and they would act as their own buttons you could bind to different things in games as opposed to being a replacement

@Seasoned Gaming. Hey bro the problem with the triggers is the weak adhesive on the shock pads on the outerside of the triggers. They wear off easily. I took my controller apart and roughened up the flat suffice where the shock absorbers sit on with some sand paper. Then I placed my own adhesive on that surface and placed the little small rectangular shock pads back on. The sanding of the flat surface creates friction so that the adhesive works better. Hope this helps. I even created my own shock absorbers. My triggers feel even more responsive.

The game-breaking problem I had with Elite v1 in around a month of usage, was one of the bottom internal (green) buttons that the paddle buttons press _collapsed_ and wouldn't release. Took me more than a month struggling with Microsoft support just to get them to reveal to me the address of the local service centre for me to submit the faulty controller.

You can counter stick drift in certain games by customizing the deadzone. In call of duty you most likely have a much smaller dead zone than other games

Well, I had mine since the release day and I just have a couple problems like a month ago, problems like double clicking on the RB and more recent the RT begins feeling like sturdy pretty much like if something got it stuck. I don’t have warranty so I decide to open the rear cover and I used contact cleaner WD40 (less than 10 bucks) on RB switch and I put a lot of it anywhere around the RT trigger even from outside. Believe it or not it works just fine, no more double clicking and the trigger is smooth again. So there you have if you have not warranty and the 90 days has been passed, there is nothing to lose and is an easy thing. I hope it helps someone.

As far as connectivity issues, i've never had my elite 2 disconnect. However that does sound like a problem that could be fixed via a firmware update, and when I first plugged mine in there was an update available. Is it possible that your disconnect problems went away after an update?

The biggest issue I have had with the controller is that about a month ago one of the little switches on the bottom that changes the trigger pull popped off, I can still switch modes it’s just a lot harder and have to get my fingernail against it to switch it. It’s a day 1 controller btw

I got mine used for $140, after tex and shipping. I love it. I'm 49, and have been gaming since I was 5. My hands are jacked! This controller is a joy to use. I don't feel like I need a death grip on it. It's got grips, and it's heavy. The paddles are great. Unlike other performances controllers, I can still use my keyboard. It comes with the charger, and the case. I don't normally spend this much on a peripheral. Since I have to be at home, I splurged. I'm glad I did. I will buy the right converter so I can use this on my Nintendo switch as well. I find the Nintendo Pro Controller to be very hard on my hands. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine controller. It's just that I have very trashed hands. My only advice for people who are having any trouble is to make sure you have the latest firmware. When I received three weeks ago, it needed a firmware upgrade.

Call of duty modern warfare added the dead zone feature to the settings to fix the stick drift on the different controllers. My new Xbox one controller didn't have much drift, barely any. But adjusting the dead zone in a private match fixed the problem! 👍👍

I really hope for the series X the release a new version of the elite controller, but take a step back from limiting it, when you buy it its like 200, but it comes with full customization at the users preference, like a few screws in the back allows you to swap out the face plate (a few screws in the front can open it up) along with the ability to buy customs triggers, bumpers, sticks, battery packs (if you want an internal one, you buy it separate, like the old plug and play kits) along with the ability to swap out the sides (where the rubber grips are) to make them plastic, or rubber like they are in the elite series, all at the users choice, so its literally the ULTIMATE GAMING CONTROLLER. Its also viable too since they can do a bunch of first party stuff to sell to gamers, which yes, its not nice to groups like scuff, but it means they could do it

I want to love this controller, I really do. But think I'll be sending my 3rd one back and just be getting a refund. 1st controller - Ended up getting a creaky right trigger when on the lowest setting after 2 weeks. 2nd controller - when the D-pad was in its resting position it didn't seem equal. Meaning that it had to travel further down when pressing "up" to when pressing "down" 3rd controller (Current) - D-pad was similar to the 2nd controller but better, so bearable. The right trigger has started to creak when on the medium setting, after 2 weeks. The left thumb stick also seems to have a secondary lift after clicking it down, this happens after the controller has been in use for about 30 mins and is annoying as you can feel the feedback from this. These are all minor things that, to be honest, wouldn't bother me if it was a regular controller. But after paying like 3 times the price of a normal controller, I expect it to be perfect. Perhaps the store I have purchased this from had a dodgy batch. I am gutted, as overall the controller feels real sturdy and weighty, with great grips and features.

I have the original elite controller and I completely transformed it... got the Gears Elite controller faceplate and backplate and bumpers ... ordered the original Gears Elite buttons from China... swapped out the start and select buttons and even the xbox button with a standard Gears controller... and got the Scuf grips and paddles for the back. Finally threw on a pair of Kontrol Freeks and she was done...love it to death and it looks almost exactly like the official Gears Elite controller.... and now a few months later, the sticks are drifting like crazy and the Elite grips are peeling off on the back. F@ck!!! Time to save up for the Series 2, I guess. Think I'm gonna miss the Scuf paddles the most

It keeps disconnecting from Xbox, you have to pair with Xbox each time you start the console. Drifting also happens in Apex Legends too, Also didn't like the internal batteries what if I would like to replace them?

Then plug the controller in. Also on apex you don’t have to use linear if you are cause it drifts a lot on all my controllers no matter how new. I just use small dead zone and it works fine.

Hey man! just a heads up that my right stick has been drifting while playing COD MW also but I DO NOT use this controller and some of my friends who don't use this controller have that same issue, so I think its just a COD issue.

i had to get a replacement on my first Elite II. One day the left trigger just stopped feeling right. it started to feel like it was catching on something inside. and no, i don't throw , bang or drop my controllers (what an expense that would be!) EBGames here in Australia had to by law honor my warranty , so they gave me a whole new Elite II controller. So far there has been no issue! but there were no signs until it happened on my last one.

i didn't know about that 90 day factory replacement, my B button on the series 2 was getting hard to press. The next couple off days the B button gave up on me, it was a brand new and my B button wasn't working. The button just seems stuck from the inside , it feels like it works but its jammed from inside? any way to un-jam the B button?

This is exactly the review I was looking for. Also warranty in my country will be longer than 90 days by law. I loved my series 1, but my grips came off after about 6 months. Looks like I'll be getting one of these.

The back of my grips came off too. I dont mind it, it sticks to my hand pretty good like that. I also have the series 2, and for me the material of rubber they used has become super slippery in my hand. Doesn't stick anymore at all.

My left stick has started to drift on the 2 as of last week too! Sux. And the b button sometimes doesn't register if I don't press hard enough! I still love everything about the controller. But I want a new one. I actually use the series 1 back buttons on the series 2, I like them better. Wish u could interchange the thumbsticks too

I’m having the same issues as you. Also my left and right bumpers aren’t as sensitive as they were at first. I either have to press it very hard or even if I do press them the remote won’t catch it. I bought mine in December and they said I just have to buy a new one.

I love my Elite Series 2, unfortunately I did have to return 3 before I got one where the face buttons (A, X) didn't stick beneath the faceplate.

There is one thing I've always noticed with my standard Xbox controllers from the 360 and the One and it's that the right or left bumpers always wear out eventually and you get stick drift and even the D-Pad on my Xbox One controller wore out and I personally think it's because of the type of buttons the controller uses, (can't speak for the stick drift it's a thing and eventually happens to all controllers), see I also have a PS4 so I have a PS4 controller and the difference I noticed with the two controllers is that the PS4 controller uses the soft press kind of buttons whereas the Xbox controller uses these clicky buttons and they've always worn out on me eventually and I've never ever had that problem with any of my Playstation controllers all the way from the PS2 to the PS4 so I prefer that button type over the Xbox button types because they've never worn out on me which sucks because I Highly prefer the Xbox One controller but I know the buttons especially the right or left bumpers are usually the first buttons to wear out on the Xbox controllers for me so I've just been playing games on my PC with my PS4 controller because it hasn't worn out on me like how I know the Xbox Controller eventually will although this is just speaking for me personally there are most likely people who have the same problem but in the reverse.

Damn either I'm really lucky or like most product reviews, you only hear from people with problems... Only problem I had with my original elite was the rubber coming loose which I just replaced for like 10 bucks. Everything else worked flawlessly for what has to be thousands of hours of use (far longer than any other controller I have had on any platform last) until I got the series 2 this past fall- which also has 0 issues so far.

The new paddles and tension are very nice imo. But to be honest, the only reason I got this one was because of the rubber was coming off on the replacement pieces I got and I couldn't find new ones. I tried a full sleeve but couldn't stand it. Plus I got it at the Microsoft store with a 3 year warranty for a special they had for Christmas. I'd say if you're fine with your current one and don't mind the sleeve, there isn't a ton to update to. Watch the Tim Rodgers from kotaku review. It's like an hour long video and he is very clearly biased for the controller, but it will show you everything you need to know in an hilarious way.

I will say this for both of you. I did end up picking one up and it was the best decision I've made. I play COD alot and the controller made a difference in my gameplay. Highly recommend it 👌

I have 2 of the series 1 elite controller and they are the best controllers I've ever used on Xbox. Makes my gaming way better my shots hit way more often and I can shoot first because of the hair triggers. If you're looking to buy one id get the series 2 I ordered one and should have it by Monday if its anything like the first 2 I'll be very happy with the purchase. Plus the 2nd gen goes with the new series x console so you're setting yourself up with a solid gamepad for the next gen too. If you have the money buy it. Plain and simple.

Love my Elite 2. Unfortunately, after 2 years of use, I have drift in my right stick, my left bumper button crapped out and one of my paddle buttons (which I never used) is sometimes nonr-esponsive.

I have two complaints with my series 2 elite controller. 1. The thumbsticks from my series one controller don't fit on the series 2. 2. The material that the controller is made from is an oil magnet, the tiniest bit of oil on my hands makes the controller look horrible. That's about it for now. I foresee the internal battery being an issue when it starts to wear out as I can't see how to take the controller apart without damaging the surface material but this is an issue for later.

so one thing with hair triggers with the elite controller is that if you want to use the hair triggers you have to go into xbox accessories and change the t triggers activation time to 0, 1 for both left and right it removes latency and any unregistered presses just a tip the 0,100 setting is for having zero hair triggers best for racing games so you can accelerate a decelerate if you are using hair triggers (i’d assume for pvp fps shooters) then you want to have you latency to little to none to get the best reaction time. i have a series one and after changing this setting for MW 2019 i have noticed a huge ass difference in unregistered shooting or ADS so i’d definitely give it a shot!

The right bumper stopping or double clicking is a legitimate defect that I and many others experienced. I went through 3 in 3 months and gave up. Never had this issue with the standard Xbox controllers. The bumper isn’t built to last even at $180 + warranty

Been using it since drop day. Right stick drift. Left stick drift just not as extreme as right stick. Right bumper sometimes not registering. Left stick click has become “soft” not registering when clicking sometimes. Other then that it’s still going strong. Just waiting for this quarantine to end so I can swap it out for a new one.

I’m having right trigger issues and X button issues and I’ve had the controller since day one. I’ll be swapping it out for a new one via warranty coverage. I still think this controller is the best you can get. And, you can’t beat it for the price. I will never understand why someone would buy a scuff over this one. I’d rather buy from the company that makes the controller rather than the one that only makes mortifications (I had a scuff before the elite series controllers came out).

Sounds like the same issue I had. My analog stick stop registering the UP direction and was unusable. I think it was also the left stick. I have to keep these controller alive on best buy warranties every 3-6 months it seems. It becomes expensive to keep renewing the warranty.
