When I was 14yo(9th grade) my P.E. teacher wanted me to do long jump and I managed to do 5.30meter at peak but with a poor form. I'm now 16 and since the pandemic there weren't any competition where I'm at and I didn't get to practice much in my jumps after 2 years of not jumping we got to do a lesson of long jump practice and first jump I did 4.30 and on the 2nd 4.60 and finished with a 3rd jump of 4.95, I hope I'll manage to improve because my teacher wants me to participate in future track & field competition and this video really helped thanks!

I watched this last night, scared for my meet today. I was getting 13s so far this season when my PR is 15. (I’m a ninth grade female) I was wondering what I was fully doing wrong, THIS VIDEO WAS SO HELPFUL. I literally thought about this video all day and at the meet! I fixed my starting posture, made sure I was balanced, aligned my hips properly, got my knees higher, extended longer, AND (these two things were the main fixtures) made sure to scoot my butt to my feet instead of landing with my feet and I kept my head up!! last meet I got 13 ft 3 in and today I got 13 ft 10 in, 13 11 in, and 14 ft 5 in!! Thank you so much for this video, I genuinely appreciate you so much. I forgot to lift my head until the last one, when my coach reminded me. Crazy how much it made a difference! THANK YOU AGAIN!!! ❤❤
@OutperformOfficial9 ай бұрын
Absolutely stellar progress! Your dedication to refining your technique and focusing on elements like your starting posture and alignment is outstanding, especially for your age. Thank you for sharing your success; it’s incredibly rewarding to hear how the video helped you achieve new personal bests. Keep putting in the hard work and let us know how it goes. Best of luck!
@mayapapaya43742 жыл бұрын
Advice in list (mainy for myself lol) Don't look down; head and chest up Once you reach your maximum height, bring your knees to your chest (make sure to sti keep your chest up tho) and bring your toes out, hands forward and take a step like you are puling your pants up(if this doesn't make sense, go to 2:07 for the position) Ideal landing is on your butt. As you come down from extension bring your heels into the pit and collapse your butt into your feet DON'T DROP FEET

I had a meet a bit ago and was put on long jump by my coach. I’m telling you I legit had like only 2 practices worth of training so I was absolutely shitting my pants. I got there, I was embarrassed as hell, because I was the only one who didn’t really know what he was doing, I didn’t know where to start from so my coach put me to run and we got a scuffed measurement. It was time and I was the 3rd jumper. No experience and no expectations, gave it all I had. Ended up getting 1st with a lucky jump of 6.01m (19 3/4ft) 😭. It was def lucky, but this year I’ll prove it wasn’t I swear! LETS KEEP GRINDING! 🔥

@OutperformOfficial3 жыл бұрын
That is not normal, you should not be landing on your tailbone. Your legs and sand should absorb most of the impact. Pain is an indicator that something is wrong, please don't ignore it. Try doing the "hop hop land" drill to get comfortable with pain free landing.

From a perspective of conservation of angular momentum I dont see the difference between knees to chest or chest to knees. I do think forward rotation is mainly created at takeoff
@OutperformOfficial2 жыл бұрын
If you bring your chest to your knees you are changing your torso angle and causing further forward rotation which will lead to a shorter jump. It would be similar to imitating a front flip which we don't want in the long jump.
