Hanna Kennemore Hi. From the UK and only recently started listening to the early Yesterday and Today and for the me the first thing that hit me was the quality and inventive bass playing, along with the drumming. Funny because I was in a rock club one night and we're talking way back in the early 80s, just getting off with this real nice girl and we get talking about bands. she tells me her FAVOURITE band is Y&T and I make the worst mistake possible... I say who are they? next minute she's gone. SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! stupid me. We could've got married, anything!! My kids will be glad I said "Who are they? lol

Hanna Kennemore Hanna, your husband was amazing, God rest him. From 1975 - 1978 I NEVER missed a show when they came to L.A. at the Starwood or anywhere they played here. I was in high school at the time and my band called"Centopath" played several of their songs including "Come On Over", "25 hours a Day" an "Road" from Struck Down at every party we played at. We worshiped Yesterday & Today. This upload is a real treat !!! Being a drummer Leonard Haze blew my mind. His right foot sounded like a double bass player and I am a double bass drummer! I thought he smoked John Bonham ... still do. Take care and I hope all is well.
@kphfun19 жыл бұрын
+Hanna Kennemore I attended the show at the Avalon which to this day was one of the most incredible shows I have ever been privy too. It broke my heart when Phil passed away days later knowing how many loved him, I am not talking about fans but those that really knew him. I was at a show in the early mid 80's at the Keystone in Palo Alto, cant remember what song they were playing but I had my head stuffed in the P.A. rocking out. When the song was done your husband made it a point to give me a high 5 and point at me to the audience with a huge smile. We remember the good. :)

Yesterday and Today became my favorite band after I heard their first album. I was stunned by the drumming of Leonard Haze. He only had one bass drum pedal and made it sound like he had a double, very fast with that one pedal. Leonard reminded a lot of early John Bonham. I was fortunate to see them in San Antonio, Texas when they were touring for their first self titled album back in 1975. RIP the original members of YESTERDAY AND TODAY, Leonard Haze, Phil Kennemore and Joey Alves.

It was 1981 I had just ETS'd out of the Army, went home to Hayward Ca. My brother and I went to a place called the next Stage Saloon for some beers and a couple of games of pool it was early afternoon we were having a blast when we saw people bringing in some band equipment, didn't think much of it but then the place started filling up with people until it was wall to wall people, so much for our pool game we got squeezed right up against the stage, so there we were right in front of the band they did a quick sound check and broke into their Earth Shaker album they were so good and loud that we had a blast listening to them. Didn't know that they were gonna be there, have been a fan ever since!!!

If I'm not mistaken, this was 1st time Yesterday & Today played a major S.F./Bay Area venue, for Bill Graham. I agree w/Robert, think Journey headlined this gig. All the guys grew up in the East Bay, Joey & I were somehow related,(his Dad's father was a brother of a great uncle of mine, on my Dad's side of the family. I used to see him now & then @ big family get together), Leonard & I graduated f/San Leandro High School, in '73, the band played school dances back in '71- Leonard was our class President in '73, I had him in several classes- he was a great guy, & yeah, he played drums like a madman! Reading these comments was 1st time I heard that Leonard, Joey, & Phil had passed, RIP guys, I'm glad I knew you, it was awesome having a band that was from the same hometown, schools, hit the big-time! Great memory that I'll always have! R.J. aka "Zelmo"

Back in the day my best friend was a keyboard player and his brother a bass guitarist. I met Dave and Joey RIP at a Battle Of The Bands competition in Hayward Ca. It was the mid 70's and they had arrived and won the battle at least once. They were there checking out the up and comers but these cats didn't act like big shots at all. They were even giving words of encouragement to my friends. I got to chat it up with Joey a little and he was this genuine, humble dude which is rare. A great rhythm guitarist that will be missed along with long time drummer Leonard Haze and Phil Kennemore. I also used to always see Dave at Leo's in Berkeley and he was never aloof like so many stars are today. I'm going to try to catch their act in Tracy Ca. soon....

I used to have a lot of '70s concert fliers, from shows that I attended(Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Journey, Rush, ect), in frames as wall hangers. I also had another picture frame that contained my ticket stubs. I had a stub or flier that showed YandT on the billing, but I can't remember who they appeared with. It was probably in the 1976-77 slot. I lost so much stuff in Hurricane Harvey. Anyway, I appreciate this opportunity to see one of the many bands I saw during Rock's greatest decade.

It must have been two years before they recorded the first album. But in 'Tonight' the camera avoids the lead singer! Personnel only credits Dave & Phil with vocals but they are only singing chorus.
