On conventional grand pianos the lid 'sticks' are called lid props, although pianists commonly refer to the longer one as 'full stick' and the short one as 'half-stick' (go figure!) The long lid prop should only go into the innermost hole, and the short prop into the outermost hole.

I ended up purchasing the Yamaha CLP-695 one step down I believe from the CLP-795. The CLP-795 was just too difficult to find where I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. They did not have any when I searched. The piano store in San Francisco happen to have only one Yamaha CLP and it was the CLP-695. I jumped on it of course. Some stores did have other CLP models but without the beautiful spruce wood when you open the lid. Everything is the same except the control panel on the CLP-795 is touch and disappears whereas mine has the buttons and you can always see the panel and mine has 4 total amplifier cones whereas the CLP-795 has 8 amplifier cones. That’s all I can think of there could be more but many similarities you wouldn’t really be able to physically tell much difference. I just LOVE my Yamaha CLP-695!! It’s a beautiful piano and I’ve gotten many compliments on it. Only one thing is when wearing headphones if you don’t turn up the volume you can definitely hear clacking sounds of the keys when playing. You don’t hear them in the headphones but outside noise. I just turn up the volume and it’s fine. You don’t hear clacking sounds when playing without headphones, thank God. No regrets, just love the look and how it plays. Both CLP-695 and CLP-795 are beauties. I highly recommend.

Hello, just saw your review and thanks for the 360° Virtual Inspection. It had all the necessary info to help me with my research before I invest in a digital piano. Some feedback, Neil JB has already pointed out about the full/half stick receptacles and in another review I’ve seen the reviewer says two sticks two positions. One more point worth noting, the symbol next to the word Yamaha is not a Metronome but (3) Tuning Forks crossing to form the Yamaha Symbol that appear on most Yamaha products. Beautiful piano... and then Yamaha had to go and cheapen it by using a matte painted metal for the lyre and pedal box... And are the legs a painted metal as well...? And it appears that the leg caps/tops are plastic...?

I only saw this “clavinova” sign on sides in this video. I can’t find other picture or video with that sign. Can you explain me why? Thanks.

I have a feeling that this particular model was a 'display only' one, used by Yamaha for a live event hence the additional stickers. On brand-new models, the Clavinova stickers are not on the side. It's a while ago now, but I may have mentioned this in the video commentary.

its nice but way too expensive.at this price you can buy a real baby grand.I would pay about half what it costs.The curvature is unnecessary since it has no strings.They could have made it square and cheaper.
