Happens a lot with the FZ09. Its hard to hold on at WOT and you tend to hold the clutch a little.

The fz09 is fantastic from 0-80mph. It wasn't really designed to be raced at all, it was designed for fun!

Newbie here...so the fz09 is a naked bike that is: 1) Cheaper than the r6 brand new vs brand new 2) Better for touring/commuting 3) Quicker from 0-60, 0-100, maybe 0-120 4) Still looks decent So now my question is...why would anyone get an r6? Other than aerodynamics and really high top speeds (that most people would never want/need to achieve) If a person just wanted more practical speed wouldn't naked bikes ALWAYS be the choice? Not trying to sound like a dick, just genuinely don't see any benefit now for getting a superbike unless its a 1000cc.

I have an mt-09(2019) and the suspension is a piece of garbage compared ton an r6, the brakes are better on the r6, the r6 is more stable in corners but I still love my mt-09, it’s a fun bike. Maybe a better fork and rear damper would solve it’s problems.

Tristan Scott I have no problem keeping the front end down on my buddies FZ09 when I ride it? You have to try to get it up in was 2nd. Ist will come up if you don't know how to control a throttle.

Why are you pulling engaging the clutch? These bikes have straight cut gears. Also, flash and exhaust doesn't make a difference. The 09 still falls on it's face at 130. Edit* actually it falls on it's face around 100, 130 it REALLY falls on it's face.

huh? that's interesting, my buddies "unrestricted" fz09 hits 150+ easy. Mine on the other hand will get to about 130 and flatten out. Both stock bikes, just different maps.

People fail to realize the numbers don't lie. The fz09 is barely over 400 lbs wet and muddy 600RR bikes are around the same. The fz09 stock is around 115+ hp at the crank which is as much or more than most 600RR's and the 09 makes a LOT more torque and a lot sooner. A 600RR is gutless until 10,000rpm. So from low speeds or a stop an fz09 will beat a 600RR every time. I'm just amazed though that Yamaha out that good of a motor in a complete shit chassis. My FZ8 is stable as can be up to 144mph (the fastest I've had mine so far. It still had almost 1,000rpms left though). I hear and see so many stories/videos of the fz09 having bad stability issues due to shit frame geometry and the bolted together steering head instead of welded. I guess that's where they saved all their money to make the bike sell so cheap. It's a Hell of a good bike for the price and a demon in a drag race. Even with my flash/tune (by the man turbo Joe!), Gutted cat, opened up airbox, high flow bmc air filter

Take away the speed limiter flashing the ecu. The bike becomes a little bit uncontrollable, but the 6th gear that is cut by 50% will permit u to reach about 155mph !

The r6 is way faster, just the guy on the fz09 is a good rider, while the other one seems to be having gearing problems

faster does not equal quicker. The R6 has to build up torque through rpms to find it's horsepower peak. the FZ-09 doesn't. On that same note, the FZ-09 deflates at higher RPMs while the R6 doesn't. What this means is that the FZ-09 can accelerate faster during low and mid rpms because that's where it develops all it's power. While the R6 can reach higher speeds but at the expense of having to accelerate slower.

Lol you're cute torque wins races not HP there is a reason why GSXR's are known as drag monsters and the GSXR1000 holds a record with 2.35 to 60 and GSXR750's are popular among street riders because they have more torque than others or at least more usable torque. The R6 has 42-43lb ft at 10.5-11k rpm and if you look at the torque curve they start down around 25lb ft of torque that's fucking pathetic compared to the FZ-09 even the FZ-07 starts at 42lb ft of torque from 2.5k rpm while the FZ-09 looks like it starts at about 45lb ft at 2.5k that feeling of the world being spit out from behind you that is thanks to torque. Hp is more like your total potential the FZ-07 and the FZ-09 wouldn't be able to achieve the same speeds do to their lack of that potential/lack of top end. The R6 rider isn't bad the R6 just takes time to hit it's stride I would have been interested to see how long the R6 would take to pass an FZ-09 with the limiter removed.

Obviously the R6 isn't way faster, the FZ is eating its lunch all the way up to 135mph, where the FZ is electronically limited. FZ's triple makes gobs of torque, more than enough to walk 600cc supersports until it hits the limiter.

Salad Tongs Yup over 60lbs of peak torque even if it's 55 at the wheels which is a rough guess of what it's loss might be that's about 10ft lbs more than the R6 and the R6 starts at about mid 20ftlbs in terms of torque curve while the FZ-09 starts in the high 40's and hits it peak way sooner than the R6.
