I've got the MT-09 2019 since march and it's honestly the best bike I've ever ridden. My last bike was the Kawasaki z900. I ride the MT-09 every day to work and get looks and waves on a daily. I've customized it a lot though - with the full system sc project exhaust it sounds so deep people thinks a thunderstorm is coming and even makes the popcorn sound like a Lamborghini. It's truly a monster! Ride safely!

Great to hear man. How do you compare z900 against mt? Any particular reason why you got rid of Z? Asking since Ill get Z, mt09 or duke790 as my next bike. Cheers
@DadBodZaddy5 жыл бұрын
pufifa I bought the mt09 about 2 weeks ago, and I was in same dilemma as you, considering the z900 and 790 duke as well. I even drove 5 hours out of town one weekend when Yamaha and ktm were doing back to back demo days about 2 hours away from each other. The 790 duke being the most expensive obviously has the best options and electronics. But the bike is small in person. It feels very small and I'm only 5'9". That twin sounds killer though even with the stock exhaust and the bike is extremely easy to ride, very ergonomic, and a LOT of fun. The z900 I never got to test drive but sitting on it at the dealer you sit much more "in" the bike than "on" it, as with the mt09. It is the cheapest/best value in my opinion, but I wasn't in love with the colors available, and the inline four lacked the character of the triple engine that I wanted. It's also kind of "small" but not as much so as the duke. The mt09 is obviously what I ended up going with, it's the tallest of the bunch but I can still flat foot the bike. I don't mind, it just took some getting used to coming from the HD I traded in. Even though there were amazing deals on the z900 once I looked around, it wasn't enough to sway me. The triple engine is beautiful in sound and performance. It pulls like a rocket, and while the stock exhaust IS quiet, I can still hear it with a full face helmet and earplugs. I do wish I sat more in the bike than on it, it feels almost like a supermoto at times with the seating position. But even still I have NO regrets. It's extremely comfortable and this bike is SO much fun. Good luck in your decision! I don't believe you'll go wrong with any of these.

Review is fab. But we can't deny the fact that the SP variant is an absolute monster, much much better than the standard variant even though its not sold in India. SP could knock the head out of others in this segment with taking out that ECU restriction which does no good. MT is a VFM cheap a flagship killer kind of motorcycle outside India however its differently priced here. Still considering these are primarily street bikes i would go for that extra usable torque of MT any day. Roll on acceleration, pull after a corner exit and overtakings will be a joy. Off the line it pulls like a horse. Unintentional wheelies will be a daily thing. MT is bike with so much more character and fun baked into it.

I was lucky enough to be able to test ride the Street Triple RS and the lower specced model ("S" I think it was?) and the difference between the two was quite apparent. I also rode to this test on my 2016 Triumph Speed Triple R, still my favourite bike ever ;) The RS felt very track focussed, higher peak power, less bottom end torque, and I think it even revved higher. The suspension felt nice, but not perfect for me next to my Speed Triple R, because I've set mine up for me. But the suspension on the RS still felt better than the Ducati Monster 1200S I test rode in 2016. Brakes were great on the RS, less weight than my 1050 R gave them a tiny bit more feel and modulation, and convinced me that I need some BST wheels on my Speed Triple ;) Unfortunately the RS had my least favourite road tyres, the Pirelli Super Corsa SP. For me, the Pirelli Rosso III is better at everything, even on track at my lower intermediate level. Manufacturers just need to stop with the SC tyres already, they suck on the road when it isn't raining, and they make bikes unsafe in the rain, it's a medium hard slick with some grooves to fool a road worthy test nothing more. They're always too cold on the road so they wear badly and can't grip well at commuting speeds. The lower specced model Street Triple definitely reminded me more of a smaller lighter and lower powered Speed Triple to ride, power and torque were far more easily accessible on the road than they were on the RS version. Brakes were Nissin all around, and they worked well, but not Brembo monobloc well. The Bridgestones fitted were miles better than the SC SPs on the RS model. I think the suspension was Showa all around and it worked fine compared to the RS, even though the RS had an Ohlins TTX on the back. To be honest I don't remember much about the displays, other than turning the drive mode up as high as possible and the traction control down as low as possible. Controls were perfectly familiar Triumph feeling, the turn indicator switch still felt a bit weak though they are not, they just feel flimsy, I'm always careful and gentle with mine. In the end, to me the RS felt more like I was riding a Daytona 675 with more power & torque, and flat bars. Whereas the lower specced Street Triple felt like a Street Triple 675 with more power & torque

You guys should compare MT-09 with Triumph SpeedTriple 765 (no S or RS) or MT-09 SP with Triump SpeeTriple 765 S or RS. Still great video, hope you will make next better.
