I actually agree with your point about soft character designs for looser animations. It's more or less akin to my perspective, since I want a more expressive approach, with excessive and complex shading, which feels more vivacious as a whole. Speaking of Higashide, I believe we've never seen a scene which expressed all of his potential, yet.

I'd definitely love to hear more about the Ocean/Westwood dub. I have a lot if respect for that cast so learning more about their version would be pretty dope! Also, WOOO MY QUESTION GOT ANSWERED! That Kikuchi piece is definitely a good one. Unfortunately since I'm for the most part a Kai guy these days I mainly know that theme as "the Kai recap theme when the Piccolo theme is out to lunch." They did use it for the Goku vs. Vegeta fight in the Saiyan arc, though, and I think it worked pretty well despite Kikuchi Kai's so-so placement. Definitely a great battle theme!

In terms of Sean's Goku Black, Chris Sabat in an interview with Gamespot definitively confirmed that, at least for standard Goku Black, the voice will be completely different from how it was in Xenoverse. I hope this extends to Rose as well, but yeah.

He hasn't. And even then, he was never that good to begin with. His character designs are too segmented, and rigid. Nakatsuru has always been the superior character designer for the anime, and came the closest to replicating Toriyama's style.

I hope Super takes the concepts from GT and executed them better . It would be a good solution for the problem of escalating power. An arc about a parasitic character like Baby taking control of all of the major characters could have emotional resonance and provide a challenge for the characters to overcome without having to introduce some new characters that are beyond the Gods in terms of power. The Baby saga started off decently with Gohan vs Goten and then, later, Gohan vs Vegeta, but it fell off after that. I want to see more of this kind of thing. Maybe with multiple characters being completely taken over by the parasite, not just Vegeta. Maybe give us some real character stakes like "if the parasite gains full control what Character X once was won't exist any more. They will be completely merged forever." Bringing all of the old villains back from Hell was a great idea too. That's why they did it twice in Dragon Ball. Both times it was handled pretty shitty though. This could be an opportunity for some fan service if they give these character's power ups similar to Freeza and write it off as them training while in Hell. It could also be an opportunity to reunite characters. Maybe King Vegeta was sent to Hell. How do you think a current interaction between him and Vegeta would go down? Or Trunks. Maybe some fusions between some of these villains. Or it could even be used to show us new villians. Characters from before Goku's time or maybe a powerful enemy from another Universe. Maybe someone from Universe 11 that even Jiren just barely managed to defeat. Most of these villains would probably still be easily disposed of even by the likes of Krillin and Piccolo but the real challenge of this arc would be the sheer numbers of enemies flooding the earth. And maybe there could be a new big-bad responsible for all of this. We've already got Super's take on Broly and Lord Slug so maybe one reminiscent of Janemba? Maybe they can be a "God of the Underworld" inspired by Lucifer who is pissed that earth used the Dragon Balls to revive so many souls that ended up in Hell after their demise. We know Earthlings are not innocent based on what happened to Universe 6's earth. As for the Black Star Dragon Ball arc, just gave them scour the 12 universes for the Super Dragon Balls. A universal tour arc sounds like a nice chill arc and a breather from constant battles to me. It could be a world-building arc. We could learn the lore of a lot of the characters and races introduced in the Tournament of Power arc. Why are there Yardrats and Tuffles in Universe 2 for example? Maybe they're a refugee Universe or something. Maybe there's a surviving Universe 7 Saiyan there. And, finally, the Evil Dragons arc could be remedied just by making all seven of the Dragons God-tier and adding suspense by making the Dragon Balls go inactive.

NuAgeGamer the Cell and Buu arc had two completely different sets of character designs done by different people, so which one are you referring to? The actual animation from those arcs would be more of a step down. In any case, I’m sure fans wouldn’t notice or care. Not many casual fans noticed Takahashi drew Goku like the Buu arc; they just noticed how cool his part looked.

I disagree. The actual animation in the Buu arc is not much to speak of out of a handful of cuts here and there. The consistency of the art fools a lot into thinking they're seeing something better than they are. The average of the animation in ToP arc is higher than the Buu arc, and ToP's best is WAY higher than Buu's best.

Again, the Buu arc had relatively consistent art (looking at you Uchiyama), but the animation is not that good. The occasional Seigasha, Studio Cockpit episodes aside with one good cut from Yamamuro, a lot of it is fairly standard or mediocre. ToP on the other hand tends to have at least one highlight in most of their episodes. We can talk about the art preference all day due to it's subjectivity, but the ambition, execution, fluidity, and movement of a vast majority of ToP's animation is higher than Buu's.

How do you actually get the Super Manga and Super Dub in the UK? I haven't found either (apart from Volume 1) in the Netherlands at all yet, at least not legally. Same with the English Kai Final Chapters dub. Yeah, I agree with the softer designs for more fluid animation. It's one thing I love about the pokémon anime nowadays, the amount of small movements and body language they have add so much to the atmosphere of the show. So many pokémon playing around in backgrounds and stuff, things that you didn't really see in prior seasons.

How does a bad schedule actually improve when the show doesn’t pause?

Super improved its schedule in a few ways. Primarily, they doubled up their supervisors for each episode, so the work load was being spread across more people, speeding up the completion time of episodes. Along with this, the series gained a bunch of new supervisors which increased the rotation times. Add all that together with the odd break here and there, and you end up with a much better schedule. Still some ways to go, but it's much better than it was.

Really great answers you gave here and really great video in general. Just had a few questions I thought I'd put here. Your opinions on GT are almost exactly what I suspected, I've always suspected that you didn't think its good to be honest lmao. I personally think GT is good (or at least just alright), I see where a lot of the criticisms come from. My main question on this is something else related to GT, the character designs. Which designs specifically did you not like? I know being not Toriyama is generally not liked by a lot of the fandom but personally, the reason I always liked Nakatsuru's GT designs is that they weren't Toriyama. I was kind of getting tired of the whole "strong looking first form, weak looking final form" that was all over Z (specifically with its Villains) so the change of pace is something I always enjoyed. Also, would you ever consider going back and talking about Supervisors who aren't on Super but worked on the previous three series? I'd love to see you do a video on Maeda and Nakatsuru one day.

Outside of those couple of well animated scenes, its a perfect example of how the show uses gorgeous character art and interesting direction to make a fight engaging.
