On my 3rd R1. Every sport bike lover should own one. So refined, so good. But you do need to have a place where you can ride on the side of the tire and get a way with 100+ MPH, or it won't be much fun to own. Had a few MT10s too. Not going to lie, I find the current XSR900 funner to ride than the Euro 5 neutered MT10. The previous gen MT was wicked though.

@@CaffeineFreak13 Yeah, those bikes are designed to be crashed at the highest speeds possible. Maybe not be repaired, but certainly crashed. And 100% of those riders use aftermarket mods like exhausts and CPU alterations to make them much faster. Insurance companies aren't stupid. They know there's a huge difference between riders who want an R1 and those who buy something nearly as fast but doesn't look as fast (ie MT10, GSXS1000, ZX1000, CB1000, etc...). I searched the country for an entire year to find my 2001 Champions Edition. Fully adjustable Ohlins front and rear, carbs, and an unapologetic nature! With an alleged 42 examples sold in America, I was lucky to find 1 at all, let alone with only 27k miles on it. I have owned it for a year, and the feeling is primal. No, an R1 is not beginner friendly. Then again, most liter bikes aren't. The simple formula for survival is skill level + horsepower = margin for error.
