These are all more or less newer bikes up to 5 years old. Would like to see the list of bikes from 2000-2015 that can serve as all-round bikes to keep, being more affordable as used bikes but still whole lot of fun. Personally i ride TDM900 and is a very fun, reliable and comfortable bike. Perfect 'budget' commuter.

Nah, I will just argue with you here. Street Triple headlamps looks akin to a dragonfly. Agusta is more notorious than Ducati, it will last you a couple of years before it breaks.

In a more recent video, you guys basically exlaim that the 919 Hornet is a vastly superior riding experience to the Z900rs. So would you keep the z900rs on this list? You can get 919's pretty cheap... if they are "forever bikes" why exlude them?

I am a 50 year old biker who has been riding since I was 12. I bought a 2013 Z800 new off the showroom floor and use it as a daily commute. I have been thinking about a MT09 or new Monster, but really am struggling to justify the cost of what I will get vs what I already have. The Z800 feels like your favourite old army T shirt you have to keep hiding from your wife so she won’t throw it away.

If you're worried about price, just look for smth second hand. You can get a basically new monster for several k off the sticker price from someone who road it for a few weeks and then found out riding wasn't for them. Especially if you get it from someone with a bit of cash who put in a few tastful mods at the shop before getting on it.

@Logan Moynagh ... If you have skinny legs that's really more of a factor than your height when it comes to whether or not your feet can touch the ground. Seat height isn't everything, seat width and body type play a big role.

My daily riders are as follows my 1999 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster, my 1999 URAL tourist sidecar outfit, my 1965 650 triumph TR6 with a bolt on hardtail and Fairbanks Morse magneto that looks like a hunt magneto, and my triumph 250 dirt bike. Besides being old I am also a Air Force veteran.

I bought a 2011 GSXR 750 about a year ago. It really is an incredibly balanced bike all around. It has the perfect amount of torque for the street unlike what I felt on the 600’s.

I grew up on dirtbikes and got the Z900RS as my 1st bike last summer at age 29. It's a fantastic machine. Plenty of power but not scary. Good handling for twisties. Seat is pretty comfy for both single and two person riding. Amazing looks, get a fair bit of compliments and questions about it. 9/10 would recommend. Only gripe is it could use more power but I'm a heavier rider so that's probably where I need to improve!

Ive got the 2018 Z900 RS in black. Ive changed the handle bars to a black Fat bar with heated grips and bar end mirrors . At 42 Ill have this bike at least 10 years. Absolutely love it. Only gripe I have is the “on/off, or snappy throttle. It holds a line in the corners so good, very confident boosting.

I'm an semi retired bike mechanic, i've ridden nearly everything that was made between 1970-2014. I've had rd500's, 350's, rgv250's, vfr's, vtr's, blades, pan europeans, katanas, in my garage. Now i'm down to 1 bike which is my keeper for life and guess what? it;s a suzuki RF900, it's all i'll ever need. 135hp 10,5 second 1/4 mile, 165mph and 204 kgs. All for 1500 euro!! and 50mpg when riding legal speeds! Holds 2 world records, which still haven't been broken.

@@Deuceblank it has some serious nuts. The throttle can be a bit digital feeling (on/off) on the initial twist, but once you get used to it, it is fine. The way they changed up the compression and cams for the RS basically keeps you in power and torque no matter what gear or rpm you are at. I have just over 2k miles on it now and still smile ear to ear with every ride.

Happy to see you include at least one ultra comfy adventure bike, but while us smart old fellers might drool over a 790, Multistrada or 1250GS, most prefer less days wrenchin and more riding a reliable Japanese bike. Oh and add some sport tourers to the list; FJR is amazing!

Let me tell you about the legend of the Speed Triple 515NJ. Born in 2005, that thing delivers 105NM @5100 RPM against 86NM @10100 of the Brutale 800 RR and 130HP @9700 and it's as fast revving as any 3cyl. It delivers more torque than both first 2 entries MUCH sooner than both and has the legendary Triumph fueling, super smooth. It's reliable, it's good looking, and brute in the right amount. I'd rather have a 515NJ instead of the new Street Triple 1160 pro max simply because it responds much sooner, it's more useful on commute and on traffic and is as good on road trips. It just FEELS faster and stronger. Yeah it doesn't have 180 hp, but you don't have to rev to 12k to feel it's power and 130 is more than enough unless you want to live life at 6th gare and 300km/h. It's a bike worth keeping forever because there will never be any other bike like that one, and Triumph made that clear.

@@clutchpack1969 I think the ZX1400 Kawasaki is the greatest motorcycle ever made. The Kawasaki has a better counterbalancing scheme and so the engine is smoother than a Hayabusa. I want to get one eventually but I find the 2nd Generation Hayabusa to be more cool looking.

My 06 z1000 was my favorite bike ever. Dyno'd 126 at the rear tire, super comfortable and loved to wheelie. Sold it for a harley and immediately regretted it. Now I'm at peace with tHE universe on my '95 RF900R.

I feel you with the Z900rs. But I went with the Honda CB1100. Sounds meh till you open it up with an open airbox, slap on a pipe and oh, UNLOCK THE ECU... Basically makes it 1983 cb1100f with FI at over 100hp and 70+ft lbs.. Air cooled but faster than the z900rs with a 18inch 140 tire.. Interesting combo. Total keeper.

My 2010 Triumph 675 STR with some mods now has 60,000 kms on it and it is now faster and handles better than when new. The main consideration when keeping a motorcycle for the long term is proper maintenance over the years. Oil changes, coolant changes, valve clearances, spockets and chain etc can get expensive and modern motorcycles are very complicated inviting the inevitable Murphy's Law. I kept my 1976 Triumph Bonneville 650 for 25 years and sold it for the same number of dollars that I paid for it new!

34 years of riding experience. I run a twin cam Dyna Low Rider. Lowered 2” with a cam making 89hp and 112tq. Grunt power baby! I just bought a M.V. Agusta Dragster 800... 140hp, fair bucket of torque in a 170kg package. It’s my weekender, well mannered, fast, it’s a barrel of fun... I daily commute on a Suzuki GSX650F and also play around on my 450 supermoto as often as possible. If I could afford to throw 25k AUD at a track bike, sure, sign me up for an r1. Since I don’t, my middleweight naked, sport tourer and supermoto work as a perfect collection providing me with a practical, economical bike, a wild toy to just go and have fun, do wheelies, stoppies, burnouts, generally playing around, and then the beautiful MV... nothing makes you feel special like rolling a Dragster 800

Im a noob biker, living in the Philippines... i own an old 2009 honda TMX125-Alpha... But due to my Spine Disability called DextroScoliosis, my overall balance is never been the same... I still want to drive but i cant w/ my Disability... I can still stand, walk... But when im on 2 wheels, i cant balance properly... Wishing i could own a 4x4 ATV... I live in a very provincial area and roads here are a bit rough... And the inner town (main part of the town), is 35mins away from my location... (if riding on a motorcycle) A 4wheeled 4x4 ATV will be a suffice workhorse and a personal service vehicle for me... But price of a cheapest true 4x4 atv here, is 7-8x more expensive than my old motorcycle... I cant even sell my motorcycle bcoz its too old and lacks features that new riders want in their motorcycles... I bought my motorcycle in 2009... 50kphp = 1kusd... The cheapest true 4x4 ATV to-date (2021)... 350kphp = 7kusd... I bought my old motorcycle, with my 5year savings, when i still can do work... But with my Disability, i cant work... Bcoz of my body condition... My DextroScoliosis, crushes my nerves that controls the sensitivity of my body... It means that im in Heavy Pain, whenever i move... Im in pain when i walk long distances, or stand for longer than 5mins... Pain reduces when im on my make-shift bed and when im sitting...

However, as a 'Veteran' and a 'Veteran Motorcycle Owner/Rider' for over 57 years (I'm 66), I can honestly say that I am looking forward to the day I can sell my Harley CVO Ultra Classic out in the garage. Why? No DCT. Having experienced multiple shoulder traumas over the years I find it painful to shift, engage in slow speed maneuvering without a Reverse feature, and overall handle a 1,000lb plus bike. Seriously. Harley completely missed the DCT Revolution and my CVO will be my last Harley. So, thanks but no thanks to anything you're recommending simply because either DCT with Auto Shift or Yamaha YCCS Electronic Shift on my old FJR 1300AE is the only bike for me down the road with a Reverse (Think Honda DCT here). Definitely a video for a much younger Veteran with healthier shoulders. Thanks for the time and the smiles of yesteryear... JP

When comparing the MT-09 vs the Street Triple RS in terms of refinement, you need to remember that Triumph took 20+ years to go from the Speed Triple 955i hooligan wheelie street brawler to the civilized shred machine that the Street Triple is today (and I hope they bring some of the savagery back with the Speed Triple 1200...) See, unless you are talking about the Thruxton RS, Bonnes across the board are severely missing when it comes to American 'fast' I hate swallowing this pill, but those Triumph bikes may look like cafes, but they don't have the same spirit of 'getting from point a to point be fast' anymore. Even harder pill to swallow: the 2016+ UJM line does a much better job.

@@jgcapers3860 still faster and handles better than stock Harleys. The standard thruxton is quicker to 60mph than the R1... The stock Bonneville T120 does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, quarter mile time under 13 seconds and a top speed of over 130mph, it’s hardly a slouch. And the Bonneville has the same engine as the Thruxton, it’s just de-tuned, if you get a full exhaust system and have it remapped it’s even quicker.

If I was under 30 probably Gixxer 750 or 1000 all the way for a keeper, ... but as an older rider a think a lot would choose a FJR1300 or 1400 Concours. For myself personally at this stage of life I think I'd lean heavily towards a 650 or 1050 V-Strom, ... which is something I never would have thought a few years back.

My forever bike so far is a buell xb. Had several bikes in the last 10 years but the buell is that one I’d be miserable without. It’s like a really burly man in tights an ballet shoes. It has no idea what it is or why it exists but it just works.

Interesting to see your list with fine young bikes. Due to the title I had expected something more veteran. I personally would most agree on the 750 Gixxer. At age 54 I'm riding a 1987 XJ600 (51J) and a 2004 NT650V (Deauville) which are still fine for me to have fast fun, tour across the Alps (I live in Munich, Germany) or just commute.

2012 Triumph Street Triple R was my first bike, and what a blast it was! So smooth, amazing for 300+ mile days in the mountains or track weekends. Highly recommend this bike for anybody looking for an easy-to-ride bike that has enough power to be fun but not enough to be stupid.

I love that bike but always had the image of it that it was kind of a hard thing to handle. Is it really a good beginners bike? Because they aren’t too expensive and look gorgeous. Definitely one of my dream bikes next to a few Italian ones (that I obviously have never ridden)

Aww finally, I have a 14 gsxr 750 and it doesn’t seem to get enough credit. It’s a sport bike but so balanced. The Performance is there but it isn’t scary fast. Very nimble and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Brutale 800RR is actually very very good on day to day usage in a city, not just for posing. Smooth engine, TONS of torque, while stille likes to rev to 13k rpm, upright riding position, good quickshifter.
