@jakegarrett8109

@@backpackbacon8659 It depends on multiple factors. Are you an older person with lots of driving experience already (even like cars or trucks or hauling things? Its useful so its not just shellshock learning bike PLUS driving). Are you a heavier person? Are you tame enough to not try and do max speed runs for at least a year or two? Are you incredibly calm (even in emergencies, do you have at least 4 alternative paths so you don't go slamming on brakes or throttle? smooth and controlled at all times) Its also more how you drive, and what kind of power you're going to be putting down. For example, I haven't ridden bikes in a while (and even then it was a 250cc), but I hopped on a decent sized Harley (fastest one they make, 1252cc and 121 HP at 7.5k rpm and I had it revved well past that when I test drove it), it was VERY controllable and I'd say other than cost would make a good beginner bike (costs because you WILL drop your first bike, its guaranteed). So size and total power didn't matter all that much because it was so tame (traction control so no spinning tires, gently roll on the throttle but that's just experience, ABS so the brakes don't lock up though I've never used ABS before except one of my cars one time had ABS and that was it). Its like some cars, even my RX-8 with a tiny engine (about the same size as that bike had) and phenomenal handling, it will still send you spinning into a pole real quick if you just stomp on the thing and have a death wish, and its ridiculously sporty so it always eggs you on to go faster, push the limits of physics more, and redline that engine with it singing its song of the rotary engines. Its how you drive it, AND can you handle the responsibility to not drive like a maniac? But don't think I'm preaching, I drive like a maniac (even on military bases I'm drifting corners and doing donuts, and yeah, this month spun out right in front of work almost smashing into a pole, that example wasn't made up, lol!)

@@backpackbacon8659 Also if you live in Texas, go with the Ninja 400 just so you can keep up with traffic, 250cc would be dangerous. Ninja 400 is honestly probably your best pick (still over 100 mph, but not yeet into the sunset at 160+ mph). Also check out the insurance, those 600 bikes are about $450/year for minimal liability coverage (even if you have a decade of driving experience, but a 250cc is like $85... Headed out today to look at a used Harley, as much as I love the Ninja(got three complements today) at 62 , I got the living snot beat outta me yesterday...so a cruiser as my second bike is immenant. Turned over 3000 miles on a run this evening.

A good alternative to a Harley Cruiser if you want a comfortable bike instead of a sport bike is an adventure bike. You get upright seating, generally designed for long trips, and longer suspension travel to soak up the bumps. Most have a windshield to keep wind and rain off you.

Love the new cbr650r , looks amazing but also worked great as a first bike over last year. More than enough power to enjoy but despite the numbers unless you wide open the throttle it’s pretty docile early on in the rpms which feels like a nice safe guard for new riders to get better throttle control then even say an r7 which felt far more torquey down low in rpms. Also with aftermarket exhaust sounds amazing on the inline 4

So your saying for someone who's interested in getting a first ever motorcycle, a 2022 CBR650R would be perfect for a starter? I wanna get one Motorcycle, and one motorcycle only. One to learn on and cruise and have fun with. 650R should be a perfect pick?
@RocketSurgeon540
@RocketSurgeon540 Жыл бұрын
Jimmy Nestro The CBR650R is a phenomenal bike, I owned one. I really wouldn't recommend it for your first bike though. You really want to learn on something inexpensive and forgiving, there's a decent chance of it getting scuffed while you are learning. A used beginner bike is a much better choice than a $10k bike making 90hp. While the CBR650R is fairly forgiving with the throttle, it is still very powerful. My advice is to start with a bike under $5k and under 50hp. Get the better bikes later when you have the skill to handle them.

@Yammie Noob excited to hear your opinion on the R7 yes I know it’s a plastic MT-07 but I think the upgraded suspension and renovations might give it an edge. Had my eye on the boring Ninja 650 for over a year and then I started working at a motorcycle dealership. Yea I had people trying to convince me of just getting an R6 and leaving it in the beginner driver mode and fortunately I know too well that mode would be switched off in an instant. I guess that’s what happens when two days after your first time putting a leg over a bike you’re handed an R1M. I think the R7 would be just the slight punch to keep me happy but not bored walking into my first bike great video and can’t wait for a review!

@@victorionut9133 actually have had the R7 for a couple months now and love it, I wanted a beginner bike and the RS660 seemed like it was starting to go over that category in to more of an intermediate bike. I started on a sv650 and trust me you will smoke pretty much any car you will see off the line , it will do 0 to 100mph in less than 9 seconds, so it's up there with bmw m4, and rs3 in car terms. 40 to 80mph is around 4.5 seconds with is good too, but once u get to 100mph that where it struggles . But its such a fun bike , has real usable power , same with any of the 650 bikes really . I ride a R1 now and I still get back on the sv650 and it puts a smile on my face. You csn really push the bike to its limits. But it is plenty fast enough imo , I really wouldn't even say its just a beginer bike the 650 class, experienced riders love them too

Started on an 83 magna. Yes, it's cruiser shape. Yes it's a 750. Yes it's as fast as a new V-rod. It's a great bike and plenty slow down low to learn and plants fast up high to fuck around. Sucks above 100 mph (even with upgraded suspension) but amazing for 0-100 (which I do often) and handles pretty well. It's interesting to see most of the newer motovloggers not talking about these irrelevant bikes, and I don't blame them -- but I am still in love with my vf750 and am having trouble finding an "upgrade" under 5 grand (it was $1500) Wat should I get ? St1300 might make sense but it's not much faster from 0-100 which is practically 100% of my driving :)

@Yammie Noob hello Portuguese fellow mate here! i have a curveball for you Papa Yam.... I have a 2004 Ducati monster 620ie dark, but crashed about a month ago and insurance company may pay market value (it's more than i paid for her)... i'm very inclined to get an 2005 cb600f hornet for about the same price i paid for the monster but she as about 5000kms on the clock less vs the Ducati... Performance wise shouldn't be abysmal, power wise hornet was about 35hp more and as carb (less problem vs Italian electronic but no issue with the monster while owned). Should i go for it?? Work in mountain hotel so lots of twisties to drive there so i think the CB is a nice replacement for the monster

I live in Brazil rn and here, my very first motorcycle is a Honda CG Titan 160cc, very basic, naked like a newborn and uglier then any other thing o earth, well, it still does pretty nice wheelies and you can make it growl like a bulldog, but it doesn't go any faster than 70-mph. My will is to when I get to the U.S.A (I am an US citizen, only I've lived most of my life in Brazil) buy a GSX R600 or a ZX6R. It Might be a huge jump, but life isn't really great if you don't mess around a little bit.

The best way to choose a first bike is to try and ride or at least sit on those bikes. I started on a yamaha fz6 and I'm totally happy that i didn't get anything smaller. Come on, your bike will go as fast as you want it to go. A 600 won't kill you the moment you start it. Just be gentle with a throttle until you get comfortable with it. It is most likely an inline 4 engine that won't go fast at all until you reach 7-8k rpm.
@brokeandtired
@brokeandtired 3 жыл бұрын
Inline 4's are probably better than a thumper or a V twin....because they are gutless down low.. I had a GPZ 400 (US grey import) that was a joy to ride, because it didn't tear my arms off unless I wanted it too. Pity it died.

Honestly your maturity and age make a difference but the sub 400cc bikes you will still love and get to use all the power. The 650s are alot for beginners that why he recommends like if you are almost 30 and can be mature enough to not kill yourself on the 650 you can start on one but he mostly recommends smaller bikes to learn on cause its safer and useable power and way cheaper used/new if you buy and insurance
