In my experience, the guys who come back around within a short amount of time are definitely cycling through their list of options, want to test you, have some type of mental/ personality issues to sort out or all of the above. The ones who come back around after years have the potential room to be different story. There's a huge maturity shift between mid-20s to mid-30s. The pre-frontal cortex IE decision-making part of the brain doesn't fully mature until mid- late 20s. That's the final piece of neurological maturity, if you will. Up until that point, both men & women are still being led primarily by emotions & hormones vs logic & insight whether they realize it or not. This is just basic biology & science. Every person above 30s that I've spoken to about this has gone through that moment. The 20s high of "I'm an adult & know things" finally wears off & they realize just how many delusional mistakes were made because of it. This is one reason I fully believe the collective of modern humans are not mentally capable of selecting a good partner on their own in their 20s... they may not be thinking logically, lack the experience & insight to spot red flags, navigate boundaries well or even fully know themselves. Due to the mental shift later on, priorities absolutely can & likely will change leading to entire shifts in compatibility with others, personal values & interests. This is totally separate from a mid-life crisis btw. Point is, if they've had time to go through that maturity/ mentality shift, they may actually have realized that you really were the best they ever had or could have had. Doesn't mean you should let them back in though! *glares at the female collective motherfkingly*

The emotionally unavailable ones always go back to square 1 when you take time for only yourself and stop managing them. And that's how these guys chase the wrong women. They chase the ones who keep the illusion alive and inevitably it falls apart at some point. The women who take care of themselves first basically fall off the face of the earth, in the guy's mind. There's a difference between prioritizing yourself in a guy's mind (they think you're confident and sexy for it) and actually prioritizing yourself (the guys don't know what's even happening). Noticed this recently with a dismissive avoidant guy. More extreme than fearful avoidants which I think u talk about more but ehm... in summary what I'm trying to say... We don't just exist within the perception of our crush and if they don't understand how limited their perception is, it's ok to abandon them. They basically have this avoidance mechanism as a coping mechanism which means they can cope with being let down. 👿

Um okay. Here is my story. I'm currently going through a situation where a long relationship is coming to an end. This was a great, beautiful relationship for 20 years but it has to end. I can't say why in public. Anyways, about the time that I was feeling depressed I reconnected with an old flame from 20 years ago. I was super in love with this person and then they ghosted me after a year of making future plans together, blah blah blah. It crushed me. Unbelievably, I did move on so when I reconnected with them I kind of was using them as a rebound. They were safe. Now the whole thing has exploded to somewhat of a relationship and as much as I care about them, my gut still can't forgive them and I don't fully trust them. Not only that but now that things cooled down, I actually want to stay in the relationship that was ending. I guess you could say it's like I'm cheating on them both with each other. Some days I just don't give an f about either one of them since both have hurt and disappointed me. I really should dump them both but let's face it, right now I'm getting everything I need from them. It's very comfortable.
