Yoga Upload with Maris Aylward - This is a hip opening yoga sequence for both intermediate and beginner students. There are many benefits from this practice, especially if you have been feeling some tightness or tension in the hip area or if you have been sitting for long periods of time. We "open the hips" by focusing on our lower body - stretching the hip flexors, quadriceps, inner and outer thighs, hamstrings, glutes, lower back, IT band, and more. There are also twists, mild backbends, and other poses to balance the practice. This yoga class can be used as a post-workout stretch routine as well.
We do mostly floor and seated poses (no standing sequence except for forward fold). The pace is slow and allows you to breathe and settle into the poses. Focus on truly being in the body and feeling the subtle energy and sensations in the postures.
If your knees are sensitive, make sure you have a towel or blanket to cushion the knees. Also, yoga props such as a block or blanket may be useful in some poses if you choose to use them. Modifications are offered for some of the poses so you can work at the intensity that is safe for you. A small screen will appear on the right to show you alternatives for the pose or how to use the props.

I do a 20-30 minute practice after my at home HIIT workouts but when I saw this was a hip opening one I found the 40 minutes and glad I did. My hips feel much more open and less tight now. Thanks Maris. I will return to this one.

Another morning lockdown group session for the WholeHealth team-one of them had requested a hip flexibility practice, and this was perfect. i truly appreciate your yoga sequences. I am healing my shoulder but doing your wrist free flow and you hip openers allow me to stay flexible while I am waiting for my shoulder to heal so I can do full out yoga again. it is frustrating but I so appreciate your flows thank you

beautiful... i love all the poses that you did for hip opening, those are the one that really worked for me. Anjaneyasana variation, Malasana, Rajakapotasana, the parallen shin seated pose and Gomukhasana, i just loved it because you have all the poses compiled so well together.... love it love it love it

Thanks! Are you subscribed to the channel? It's free to do so. Also, make sure you turn on the notifications so you don't miss it when I post videos. I have over a hundred videos so all the classes are organized into playlists and sections on the main channel page - kzbin.info - so you can easily find what you are looking for. You can also create your own playlists of KZbin videos that you like or save them to the "Watch Later" (below a video on the left there is a plus sign that says "Add to"). Hope that helps.

Hi Rosa, thanks for practicing with me. Right now I don't have any videos with that focus. Keep in mind that we don't want to experience pain in the joints so avoid poses that cause pain in your knees.

hello Maris im very new to yoga, i started with your morning yoga stretch on dannys workout channel and loved it. i felt stronger so thought i would try this.
