I'm completely with sips because if UFOs are indeed aliens then they've done nothing in the past and I don't believe they'll do anything in the future and therefore I don't give a rat ass if they're real or not. It's like when a cthulu lived and died in the depth of the ocean during my lifetime without me knowing.

The manchild comment from lewis had me almost spit out coffee. Great work as always lads. Love the podcast. At a golf tournament many years ago a man's pager went off during a putt and they lifted him up out of the crowd and escorted him off the course. It's a real thing for sure.

I've been aware of the Baahder-Meinhof phenomenon for years because i am a frequent victim of it. But funnily enough once I became aware of its name it DID NOT suddenly start coming up everywhere, this is the first time in about 6 years its been mentioned outside of me telling people about it when i happens to other people.

5:21 Ithink most sports for penalties or things that require focus the crowd generally gets quieter, not totally silent but for rugby matches I’ve been too, unless the crowd is annoyed by something everyone will generally stop cheering etc when they take the kick, it’s just football where everyone goes crazy all the time

Food for thought - alien sightings primarily exist in a post 'I saw some fairies\goblins\wights in the forest' age, and from lewis's story around roman times, it looks like it also had a religious bent, which society has now shifted away from.

With regards to space travel, Our life span is not really a big hurdle, because achieving functional immortality is easier than space flight. Be it replacement organs, replacement cells, or by genetic engineering, humans will find a way to extend their lifespan. once people have a long enough lifespan artificial or not, spending 14 years to travel half light speed to the nearest system wouldn't be the death sentance it is now (heck now we would even make it) (I say functional because true immortality is probably not achievable) Again space travel would have to be so advanced for us to even try, and by that time, we will have figured out life extension, just because its much easier, and definitely possible

Gotta agree with Sips on this one. Extraterrestrial life could be literally anything, there's absolutely no point in theorizing about it because it is so deeply uncertain. Every step of the way you could add "or not". Try doing it at Pyrion's bit at 33:50. The most fundamental questions are unanswerable. It's about as useless as asking the question: "What would happen if Winston Churchill could only speak Hungarian?" It has no foundation whatsoever, there's nothing to compare it to, and it has no impact because Winston Churchill did in fact not speak only Hungarian. And that example even has foundation in reality, we know Winston Churchill, we know what Hungarian is. "What if aliens have movies?" I don't fucking know, do they even have eyes? Can they even hear? Do they perceive time similarly to us? "What if Winston Churchill could only speak Hungarian?" I don't really care one way or the other.

Alright this is super old but still... the end of the discussion and the way Pyrion goes on about Romans vs medieval times. Big... nah mate. I love me some roman history but the divide of "they used to have complexity with their political system and then we came around with sucky monarchy, blergh" is... so wrong. The romans ended their republic 500 years (!!!) before medieval times can be said to begin (which in itself is a difficult debate, 500 is the typically accepted start in anglo-saxon reckoning [800 in France by the by]). They had monarchy'ish systems with their emperors, they had incredible instability from time to time. Systems of rule in medieval times were no less complicated, albeit on smaller scale because the polities were usually smaller. Nonetheless, the entire narrative of decline of all things is a deeply renaissance one.

I am in the same group with Sips. I don't give a crap about if there are Aliens. I just assume there is other life out there and it doesn't mean anything different with my life if there are others out there. Not like they are going to bother taking me on a trip through the galaxy. My day doesn't change, I still have bills to pay and a house to clean.

That's such a Pyrion argument to make. "Why can't there bee more hooligans in tennis?" Lol. I paraphrase of course, but why should every sport be a monkey's game? I'd listen to this podcast more if Pyrion wasn't there, honestly. He's chronically triggered about literally everything all the time. It's so annoying. Like Sips not giving a shit about aliens is funny and definitely weird, but instead of laughing about it, Pyrion is triggered. Because that's the only emotion he has. Always triggered. It's tiresome to listen to his squeaky voice angrily complaining about some shit that doesn't matter.

Something that is not fair at all is you talking about opinion and that people can have some and some not. Saying not jabbing kids is harmful. That is NOT your call its the parents call to make. If you dont want to get sick do everything against that by all means but dont force others. Everyone has their rights and someone elses body is not your right to choose over. Saying that it is harmful to not inject somone with mRNA is ludacris and might actually turn on you some day.
