Hi! Would love to see an overwintering peppers video. Do you have one I can check out? I dug up cayenne, trinidad scorpion, tabasco, red habanero, hungarian wax, super chili and ghost pepper. Concerned about pruning, light, watering and soil, all of the issues. Thanks for what you do!!

Can l harvest the green yolo wonder that i wouldn't need wait to turn red and how many days from flowering?
@HeirloomReviews5 жыл бұрын
yes they are basically the same as a California wonder. depends on how much sun, ferts an how much energy the plants are going to put into the fruits an not plant structure. typically about 30 to 60 days

@@HeirloomReviews they do ripe into red even i harvest them from green or it still doesn't change its color anything at all after l harvested?
@HeirloomReviews5 жыл бұрын
it depends when peppers turn red that is the way the plant is saying the seeds are mature enough to sow. if the seeds are just to immature the peppers will stay green after harvest. if you want them to continue ripening after harvest wait till at least there is a little red or orange is on the pepper and that pepper will continue to turn red after harvest! hope that helps thanks for watching : )

@@HeirloomReviews ok! Isn't yolo wonder a non hybrid so that l can keep its seeds for future use or it doesn't change its characteristics if i continue to plant the seeds?

Well, I think you just explained my mystery. I harvested seeds from grocery store Cal Wonder orange and yellow bell peppers. They're growing in the greenhouse. Some have started fruiting and of those, some are typical bumpy button bell peppers, but some are coming out looking more like cayenne or what you have there, the Yolo, with a lipstick shape. I figured those ones were a cross between Cal Wonder bells and a chili or something. I guess I have some Yolo Wonders. That's great! I'll be sure to harvest seeds. I wanted a faster growing variety, like Hungarian or Pablano and it looks like the I have one now. Thanks for the video. Really, I was perplexed about the shape of my non-bell shaped bell peppers!
@HeirloomReviews3 жыл бұрын
somethings wrong? those seeds should still produce bell peppers not cayenne.
@tersta13 жыл бұрын
@@HeirloomReviews Yah, I expect the mature fruit to be more like the Yolo than the Bell in shape, but the flavor will be Bell, I would think. The plants with the lipstick (more like a cayenne, hungarian or banana pepper) shaped fruit forming have to be cross pollinated. Maybe the pollen source plant was a Yolo. That would explain the long, pointed peppers that the plants are producing. There are normal bell fruit forming too, but on different plants. So the seeds from a grocery store Cal Wonder are giving me 2 different pepper fruit shapes.
