It sounds so cliche. I never understood what it meant when ppl said you have to love yourself first. But I finally got it. My cousin asked me about a desire to be married. I was honestly able to tell her that I'm open to relationship in my life but it's not my priority. She didn't want to accept my answer because of how she felt. But I repeated myself with conviction. I have been working on myself mentally and physically and falling in love with ME rather than wasting time trying to prove that I'm worthy of someone else's love who would use my low self esteem as an opportunity to get what he wants. The next time I get involved with a man, I'll be vetting him to see if he's worth my time.

This speaks to some of the nonsense I see going on lately with some men speaking of what women bring to the table as if it's "prove to me you're worthy" while they're already being tested...."give me everything as a wife (not a wife but act like a wife) AND after that what else you got to prove yourself to me so I can weed you out from others". Hell no! I've been married a long time & that takes work too, but you have to know yourself at all stages of love & not jumping through hoops no matter what stage of a relationship whether married or not.

Mrs. VAL is absolutely right!! I divorced a Narcissist after 20 years and honey I had to do like the old folks say Go Sat Down Somewhere. I was So So broken I could not fathom moving on to another relationship so quickly. It was time for self reflection. Yes he was a demon but who let him in. Resist the devil and he will flee. I now know my worth. I will never settle ever again. You and Ron are encouragement. It says to me that if God did it for you he can do it for me in his perfect timing.
