Not that I would call it “bad” but one annoying thing about a bike is the prep time to ride. Sit around the house in your sweats and sneakers and wanna drive your car? Go ahead. Wanna ride your bike? Nope. Gotta change clothes, put on your boots, and a jacket, no matter time of year if you value your safety, put your gloves on, then take them back off because you forgot to hook your helmet, turn on your cardo, put gloves back on, immediately take gloves back off yet again because you didn’t put your phone in the quad lock and get your music playing, then put gloves back on, and finally start riding. Or is that just me every time?

When riding a motorcycle or thinking about riding a motorcycle, people first need to know the difference between situational awareness and paranoia! If a rider has their head on a swivel and is really paying attention to what’s going on around him, then there’s no need to get crazy paranoid when riding a motorcycle. That takes all the joy out of riding! Paying close attention and believing that every driver is an asshole high on drugs or is on their cellphone, keeps me safe without being a scared psychopathic paranoiac on a bike! Keep the helmet speakers down in city traffic and pay attention! Also, don’t get road rage when drivers do stupid shit, because what they’re traveling in is bigger than what you got. On the road, the biker is the little guy that everybody can beat up, no matter if you’re in a group! Just honk your horn, curse them out if you so choose , give’em the one finger salute and keep it moving, if you so choose of course! Love your bike and get home safe. 👍🏾✌🏾
@terry_willis
@terry_willis 8 ай бұрын
Good advice. Also, here's what I do when a cager cuts me off or does something stupid: I give him/her/it the peace sign, you know, a V with the index and middle finger. The reason is that if you just use your middle finger, that gives the cager justification to flip you off or call you an a$$hole or bump into your bike. So you're not "getting even" by flipping the bird or honking. Whereas, when you flash the peace sign, you remove justification for the cager to get pissed off at you. That is actually very frustrating to the cager. He WANTS to get angry and pissed at you, but realizes it not justified in that situation and it actually makes him MORE angry and pissed off. It's kind of like mental ju jit su.
@RollWithSoul317
@RollWithSoul317 8 ай бұрын
@@terry_willis Excellent reply, but that’s why I specifically said, “if you so choose”. If a driver just has a grudge against bikers, it doesn’t matter if you take the peaceful approach to the situation, an enraged driver will go after the biker anyway solely because he/she knows that their vehicle is bigger and they can hurt you, believe me it happens more often than you think!! You can put a 105 pound weakling in a pickup truck and then he/she turns into King Kong! Let’s face it, there’s countless mentally unstable people driving cars or trucks and riding motorcycles out there on the roads, more so in today’s society with the amount of guns and drugs out there! Unfortunately, there’s individuals who will pull a gun out for the smallest of reasons! For instance, if a rider lane splits and just barely touches a driver’s mirror and the driver becomes hyper enraged because they know that they have two weapons, the vehicle and the gun, but they only weigh 105 pounds!!! Incidents like that happen but are not always reported or seen on your local news broadcasts. So yes, I agree with taking the peaceful route and live to ride another day, but in reality there’s that ten percent chance that it won’t work in the violent world we live in today! Have you noticed that concealed carry motorcycle jackets are being advertised more today than ever?!? Back in the day, that wasn’t a necessity or advertised like it is now because road rage wasn’t as prevalent as it is now! I’m 64 years young and I remember how peaceful it was to throw a leg over my bike and ride, and a lot of drivers would actually look for bikers on the roads and were courteous, friendly and respectful to riders that weren’t assholes! But ultimately, it’s all about the choices that people make and some people don’t care if you are a Clergyman riding on a motorcycle, the road rage 😡 can still happen. A rider doesn’t have to be afraid, just be “prepared”! I am a positive person but the reality is that world has changed a lot my friend! For the better??? 😮Thanks for your reply and stay safe out there. 🙏👍✌️

When you do anything outside of what is considered perfectly normal by society, you have to have a bit of a thick skin. But it’s never as bad as you think it’s going to be. I wear a kilt every day, and you would think that they’d be more negative reactions towards that.but generally, it’s just people wanting to talk to you. They’re curious. And the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive since I began. I’ve never had a real problem on my bike either.

I was actually talking about the same thing in one of my videos few days ago. :) Around me, I hardly see anyone riding bikes. Here is the thing - one day a friend comes over and we go grab something to eat. Its winter so I left my car running with keys in and on the street for an hour. He says, "dude, you left your car running?" I told him, "No one knows how to drive stick." I went as far as to pay for the MSF course if they are willing to learn - and didn't take my offer as it is 'DANGEROUS.'

One major thing for new riders to understand is maintenance. Especially people who buy used bike that are near 20 or over 20 years old. It's more than cleaning your chain also. Cuz without understanding your bike your selling yourself short on performance and safety. I would say any bike with 15k+ miles you want to check alot of things , cam chain , valve clearence , fork oil/shock oil, wheel bearings, chain, stem bearing, swingarm bearing, rims are not bent, brakes, clutch. Really if one or more of those things are bad on a motorcycle it's a total different bike than it should be. Then also there is suspension tuning that is a big deal. Having the proper suspension settings for your body can make a night and day difference in the motorcycle. So new riders buying bike for $2-$5k just understand that it's likely that bike is no longer the bike it used to be. Not saying all this to discourage people because I consider learning these things part of the motorcycle riding experience. And because that's how I started out and seen others start out. I got my gsxr for $2k and had so much wrong with it. Got $5k more into it plus all the work I put into it. But it all helped me understand my bike and now I have a complety different better bike. Also another thing I've noticed over the years is people riding busted up bikes. That I see for a while then disappear. I'm not talking like just scratched n dented bikes. I'm talking people riding with major malfunctions. I think the worst one I've seen was a dude on an older ninja, with a chick on the back, rear tire was bald and almost flat, he had a car licence plate rigged under the fender that was slapping and rubbing the tire. And he kept speeding up and slowing down and looking down and around to find the noise. Seen him around for like 2 weeks and never seen him again or since. So who knows what happened. Hopefully nothing bad. Buy yeah don't be like that. Cuz he could have very well could have went out for some speed and freaking tire comes of or chain snaps or hits and bump and his forks are so flat he lost control. Or his suspension was not setup good and he got a speed wobble and lost it. Or maybe he just quit cuz of the thought of spending the money and fixing the bike. Either way sux. So don't be like that. Invest in your bike if you got an older one and learn from it. It's really not to hard to work on bikes as long as you have some basic knowledge, the right tools and a service manual. It's really part of it. Unless you can afford to buy new bikes all the time or have a shop do it for you.

Must say your videos gave me a lot of motivation to get back on the saddle even after a F.. up day where my foot took on a new shape all together 😅. I've owned multiple bikes and this is my second VFR800 since the accident on my first one. I now commute daily and today still came across an f... up day today, some poor guy happened to ride into the back of another car on his GS, as a rider unfortunately it is always our fault. As for the hair I use a shorter cut and just live with a bad hair day every day. Keep riding Cyclecruza and one day visit my channel you might find it interesting. Thanks for the videos. 💪🏼
