There might be people that are simply more comfortable with being in a relationship with a trans person for whatever reason. This is pretty much what turned me away from the community. Tried to get to know them to see what they were like and about half of the time I was met with hostility or skepticism. Couldn’t even ask questions without people flipping out or questioning my intentions lol. The whole reason I was trying to get involved was to give them a chance and see if we had any similarities if they let me. Maybe I would get to like some of them eventually. I could go into this topic more, but don’t want to turn this into an essay. There are some chill ones out there though.

@Natzawa You're definitely right about that, I've been bullied out of two trans groups, because I have a different opinion than they do. I've also been called transphobic and for that reason I don't want anything to do with them. On a positive note, I'm actually happy I transitioned later in life. That’s cause “fetishising someone” can also mean looking at the person like they are a sexual object. Not a human being, full on something to be used for sexual pleasure, with little to no regard. That is obviously a problem, as it can lead to many issues, namely, the person getting violent when the individual they fetishise doesn’t comply and deliver what they want from them… Obviously tho, not all people with a “fetish” does it to that extent.

Trans masculine so in my days (Gen X) we were called Tomboys and I was a big tomboy I'm talking rough & tumble if I was alive now I would have 100% made the biggest mistake in my life I HATED being a girl I was utterly terrified to hit puberty I didn't want to develop I wanted to be a boy so badly, I would have done anything I have the stories & the receipts. My G-D all of the life-altering events I would have missed.....it grows as each year passes the moment I fell in love, the moment I KNEW he was my soul mate, the love our bodies created, which took a lot of work (sorry children ha ha) I ADORED being a woman the moment I held my daughter in my arms, this is the condensed version void of too much personal information BUT I would love to talk to you about it, I think I had a lot of "identity issues" but in the 1970's there was no one you could talk to regarding this.

Same, i was convinced for the longest time I was bi, from childhood to my early 20s. If there was some kind of body-altering choice to make relating to bisexuality, i would have made it. Now in my 30s I understand sexuality and myself better and i know i'm not bi. You can have so much conviction for something when you're young. I was also quite tomboyish and dysphoric with my body. In the beginning some of these people shocked me, it then became entertainment but moved quickly over to exhausted. Im now at a point where im genuinely concerned for the harm these people are doing to themselves because so many of them surely have serious mental health issues ( no judgement, I'm full of diagnoses) whilst "educating" other mentally unwell and young people. Guys have dated women for their large breasts, for their blonde hair, some guys have dated women for their large bodies and bodacious curves… Guys have been partial to partners of a particular racial background…black or Asian, for example. There are any number of superficial reasons for why someone may be initially attracted to someone. Whether or not a loving romantic relationship blossoms is what really matters, isn’t it? So here’s a suggestion. Hold off on the sex. Take your time to get to know the person first. If a guy is only looking to get it on with you for superficial reasons and loses patience waiting, well, there you go. And by all means make sure this potential mate know about your full story long before the bedroom. But, honestly, if we aren’t interested in being with a trans partner…we’re a problem (phobic) but if we’re too interested in being with a trans partner we’re also a problem (“chaser”)…really? I know a female to male trans person, it can be a nightmare to relate to sometimes. I received a snap showing how nice the weather was, I didnt think and just responded "yeah looks nice" thinking no more of it. This sparked a huge drama with both this person and their SO, with both of them knowing fully well that my interest in the person stops at having some hobbies and interests in common. Nothing more. Yet both assumed malicious intent and barraged me for a couple of hours, none of them had the common sense to just ask me what I meant or assume that I was still talking about the weather. Which was, you know, the thing being talked about? So yeah I can believe what you say, that if trans is your entire identity, you become hell of alot more vulnerable and sensitive over small things. Its such a shame because this is a nice person that I would have no problem having a normal hetero man to hetero man friend-relationship with, but stuff like this makes it incredibly hard. Sometimes it feels like you took all the bad sides of a guy friend and a girl friend and put them together with none of the good sides of either. I can imagine thats not easy on them either, they seemed genuinly shameful after the matter was cleared up. But hey, its up and down. And the ups have made me not give up on it so far!

As a trans woman, I have no problem with men who actively seek trans women… however, a lot of these guys are deeply ashamed of their desires. This shame morphs into objectification and dehumanization… and that, to me, is a “chaser.” Not all trans-attracted men are “chasers.” There are men who don’t feel shame and self-hatred, men who can honestly say “yeah, I like trans girls, I’m not 100% straight.” But it’s the “straight/masc/dom/seeking pre-op only” guys that you need to watch out for. They are NOT being honest with themselves, because they are ashamed of their fetish… THOSE are the “chasers.”

Thank you so much for this. I'm in this situation. I'm a regular CIS man. No gender issue I present and feel like a dude. I like CIS women *and* Trans women. It is the way I am/ I don't need to hear it's weird. So I'm told by all my trans friends I'm straight. My straight friends tell me I'm gay or usually bi. I'm not downlow I go out and have girlfriends and am not ashamed to go out with anyone I see. So I hope I'm not a "chaser" whatever that means. It feels like I'm always in the "other" group no matter who I talk to.
