Darren Grimes is a TV host who has now been canceled by much of the woke left for his view that trans women aren't women. This is despite the fact he doesn't mind drag artists, and is openly gay. We revisit his painful childhood in this wonderful interview.

It's not only homophobic but it's androgenous/gender non-conforming phobic as well as puberty phobic. Growing up is uncomfortable and they're telling kids it's because they were born in the wrong body.

I don't think so but saying trans women aren't women is pretty transphobic. Pure and simple. But to harass and hurt people for their beliefs that doesn't exactly help that actually makes things worse. A racist we can become less racist buy participation

Attempting to “trans the gay away” is extremely homophobic. Transgenderism is the new gay conversion therapy. It’s sick. Butch lesbians, for example, are disappearing before our very eyes. These women are constantly being told by trans activists that they should cut off their breasts and live as men. But there’s absolutely nothing wrong with butch lesbians or effeminate men just as they are. Also, straight men in dresses now refer to themselves as “lesbians,” and expect all gay women to date them. When gay women refuse, they are sexually harassed, intimidated, and labeled transphobic bigots - all because she refuses to date men with or without their penises. It’s terribly absurd. A straight man is not a lesbian because he puts on a dress. Clothing has never been a determinant for womanhood. In the same vein, butch lesbians are still women no matter how masculine their presentation may be. And THAT is what attracts lesbians to each other - that a woman is aways female whether she takes her clothes off or leaves them on. Leave the lesbians, gays and bisexuals alone. We’re perfect as we are.

@@VolkColopatrion you don't find it at all homophobic that boys are being told that if they have an interest in girly things and find boys attractive that they must be a girl that was born in the wrong body? As far as harassing and hurting people, the trans activists and medical system are definitely doing that. Can a biological male become a biological female via hormones and surgery?

Hey Andrew. I was r@ped by a trans"woman" in 2017. When I confessed this to my family and friends, I was outcasted as insensitive and bigoted and blamed for the ordeal. I was eventually run out of town by the man who did it and his LGBTQIABCDEFG posse, who broke my car windows in the night. I've come out stronger and now make artwork that supports women's-only spaces and sports Thanks for what you do friend

The same thing applies to Lesbians and women in general who hold the line against this nonsense. I've seen so many self declared 'liberal' women through other women including lesbians under the bus so to speak for being conservatives. IMO these people who like to think they are oh so liberal are so indoctrinated that they will literally sell their soul for the likes of Labour or the left. It's utter madness how these people behave towards people simply for being conservative. It wasn't always like this. There was a time when people could agree to disagree, respectfully.

I came out as a lesbian later than most, and I'm 30 and still haven't been able to meet lesbians. A big issue has been Trans (and bi people encouraging them) taking over lesbian communities online. Its not like there's lesbian bars. And I'm hesitant of lgbt groups because I REFUSE to not be honest about these opinions when it eventually comes up because it's very serious and i wont be intellectually dishonest. I am afraid I'd be pushed out of my own communities. I've been told I'm homophobic for not seeing trans as lesbian too. I feel so lonely sometimes its suffocating. What little space I maybe would have they take over. And it sucks to know many lesbian and bi women actually agree with me, but are afraid to say so and even if we'd get along, we can't because they'd be guilty by association. I'm so tired.

A worldly friend of my grandmother’s sat with me, age 7, & she told me I was a different boy (I had dolls, liked dresses, put on theatre) & that life wouldn’t be easy but to always be true to myself. My nan knew I was gay but hadn’t the words; her friend did. Luckily my interest in my mother’s dresses & makeup, in dolls & so-called girlish things, was not judged by my parents or grandparents but seen as a phase, which it was. I was a boy who loved other boys, not a girl in disguise.

I've known of Darren for a long time, but I've never known a great amount about him. What he has been put through because of his common sense opinions, that are based on his own personal experiences is absolutely ridiculous. It really baffles me that in this day and age, after years of fighting for proper equality. That being, everyone regardless of race, religion, sex, and beliefs were seen and treated equally. Those who have the same opinions of the majority of a typical person on the streets, are being attacked publicly, personally and professionally. I really do worry about what type of world our young people are being forced into. Gone are the days of allowing children to be children. Letting them play and explore and develop their own personalities, likes and hobbies. We are getting to the point of having to micromanage every aspect of their lives, just to ensure they have a 'normal' upbringing.

I've been pointing out the obvious tension between supposed gender identity "rights" and the rights of people of differing sexual identities for over a decade. Even back in the early 2010's when I started my undergraduate philosophy degree it was clear that the pressure to accept these claims was coming from outside philosophy and that people reading other subjects (ie other humanities like english, social studies, womens studies etc) who have no ability to critically engage with the philosophy underpinning their views,, or justify their positions, were trying to push this nonsense on us. The vast majority of decent analytic philosophers (metaphysicians, philosophers of language, philosophers of science) know that gender ideology is fatally flawed.. (and I would warrant, historically abandoned as a consequence). The reason that we are in this mess: too many people assumed that someone else would do the hard work and get rid of this idiocy, and I reset a lot of philosophers for failing in this respect. Socrates imbibed hemlock rather than bow to the powers that be, those that allow mistruth to flourish whilst saying or doing nothing should be ashamed.

Edit to add: Trans athlete Mack Beggs and her cohorts shared news of my father's death and spent almost a month laugh-reacting to it and posting awful comments on his page. -- In online spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals seek advice, administrators have increasingly been replaced by trans women. Our gay men's support group began inviting lesbians who were excluded for not dating trans women. Trans women often post inappropriate photos in "little girl" outfits, making others uncomfortable. Speaking out against this unhinged behavior results in being labeled transphobic and getting removed from the group. The situation escalated when I angered a trans woman by saying they can't experience PMS, leading to a mentally unstable harassment campaign against me, which even targeted posts about my deceased father.

The 'trans' religion/industry is not a grass-roots movement formed by many people uniting to combat unfair discrimination and persecution, and campaigning to achieve fair treatment under the law and due acceptance by society. This applies to the Civil Rights movement in the United States throughout the twentieth century, the movement in Britain for women's suffrage, the campaign in Britain for the decriminalisation of male homosexuality and the elimination of discrimination against homosexuals. All these campaigns were bottom-up, grass-roots movements involving many people over many decades. The 'trans' cult is sudden, imposed and financed from above, and exacerbated by social media, along with the indoctrination of key people like teacher-trainers whi will spread it to teachers who will spread it to children.

Correct - follow the money that is financing the hatred. Trans activists supposedly believe it is possible to be gender fluid. Many do not have any sex change at all and identify as the opposite sex - those infamous influencers who were advertising Bud Light and the other one inviting kids to contact him directly. Yet despite their supposed fluidity beliefs they demand children are really the opposite sex if they display behaviour that they say do not conform to traditional binary roles. That's confusing and at odds with their oft voiced views. Let gay people be gay. Let straight people be straight. Let transvestites dress up. Let transsexuals do whatever they want to themselves. But trans activists should not dictate madness to us that we follow their insanity.

Wow, what a good point - if you're not prepared to have a discussion about opinions - you're intolerant. Not if you don't accept my opinion. Can we return the world to it's proper place where we discuss ideas and let them stand or fall on their merits and where diversity of opinion but with scrutiny is considered normal - not just valuable.

I found Darren talking about his realisation that he was Gay, aged 11, very moving and very pertinent when he said he would have taken am apparent 'solution' offered by adults..this is exactly the problem with transactivism - it tries to 'fix' vulnerable children and young people. In the name of compassion and equality, I honestly think it is one of the great evils of our time.

When I think about the core problem with all this woke/sjw/dei mindset, particularly in corporate and other institutions, keep coming up against the phenominon of *ulterior motives.* It's a pervasive problem in any ideological movement particularly religion, politics anything realy. Its hard to find a ideology that isnt prone to develop ulterior motives, since they are vehicles of power.

I don't know any gay people, myself included, that support the trans ideology in this form it's taken, and I'm not talking about right wing people, I voted for Corbyn. In fact most of us would support Richard Dawkins views on biological sex and not the gender theory that has permiated since the late 1970s

I think part of the problem is group think and people who just want to go along with whatever rather than doing your own thinking. I heard somewhere recently that this is a human feature not a bug, if you disagreed with the village chief 1000 years ago you were outcast and died. I won’t wear anyone’s T-shirt or flag.

I keep hearing about this very vocal minority who seemingly can have anyone cancelled, but who exactly are these people? Who are they? And why don't we start exposing them by name and shame them back? A taste of one's own medicine is the most difficult to ultimately digest...and often the best wake up remedy.

My God when I was young (yes, a very long time ago) the people we called bigoted and “canceled” and punished were openly expressing hate for gay people and individuals with dark skin and/or hair. And acting upon it. They had a monopoly on recieving that kind of criticism and we did not take them seriously unless they tried to burn refugee hotels or shoot at people. Sometimes we encouraged people to not vote for them. Great conversation!!

My greatest hope is that the total mix-up, jumble, and re-arrangement and alignment of 'personal politics' of the last few years will reduce the old-school left/right/centre/liberal etc stance that so many people have espoused during the near-seventy years of my life, to the point where the divisions disappear - or at least moderate - and the old classist model ceases to be part of the 'conversation'. . . . .
