it's weird to remember a time when comedies got a big budget and a wide theatrical release. Streaming services really changed everything. I feel bad for people my age who pursued acting or directing, because the movie industry drastically shifted right after we graduated high school.

@@notsocrates9529 You're projecting some kind of personal bitterness here. 98% of aspiring actors, writers, or industry workers already have to support themselves with a day job. Now they're pursuing a dream to get a foothold in an industry that churns through people's art and hard work as "content", while spitting in their eye by also paying as little as possible. You can mock that if you want, but any media you enjoy was made by someone who started in that same position.

It's a decent movie. The sets and costumes were better than most modern fantasy projects, and the story itself flowed well: it just had the misfortune to come out at a time where hating everything was edgy and cool, and actors shitting on their own creations doubly so.

5:26 I think Land of the Lost (2009) deserves its own episode.
@shawnfields2369
@shawnfields2369 Жыл бұрын
Yep, such a TERRIBLE film; I remember how bad the (2009) version; such a boring; terrible; waste of time; both on TV; and in theaters; and I'm glad I never saw it in theaters; because I would've walked right the f**k out. Such a disgrace to the name of Land of the Lost; and honestly? Will Ferrell was just boring and not right in the role. Danny McBride though? Was the only reason to NOT walk out of the film; although I wouldn't blame you if you did...I tried to convince myself the 2009 Land of The Lost wasn't a complete pile of garbage, but it most definitely was. I'm even surprised people remember it; at all; really. Because it ended abruptly, and NEVER got the promised sequel; and it ends with the cast being permanently stuck in their Jurassic Park rip-off; and never get back to the other side. Fine by me... if it keeps them from producing another terrible Land of the Lost film like the one with Will Ferrari and Danny McBride(although he was alright in that film), it's fine. But he was great in "Tropic Thunder"; and "Eastbound & Down"; which made me like Danny McBride as an actor. And yeah; Land of the Lost (2009), deserves to be forgotten; but brought up one more time; for an episode, yeah, you're definitely right about that.

@shawnfields2369

@@ZeroGreenie EXACTLY. But uh; "Tropic Thunder"; though? Give THAT film; a sequel! Tom Cruise? Danny McBride, Robert Downey Jr.(THIS was the film that restarted energy back into his career, and RDJ's very next role? Taking on the role of Tony Stark/Iron Man; the very NEXT year, as everyone who saw him in Tropic Thunder; had THAT much faith in the guy, myself included; and it was worth it. And I'm glad I saw Tropic Thunder in theaters, when it came out; because it gave the people who saw it; knew it would be worth it. And I'm glad I did; but the saddest part about "Tropic Thunder"? It never got that sequel; but I guess when you look at it; while it didn't NEED one; the WORLD certainly could've used a "Tropic Thunder 2"; you know? Instead of a bad remake of an old a$$ TV series that barely ANYONE even remembers(Land of the Lost; 2009), why not just give the world a 2nd Tropic Thunder; with the entire original cast from the 1st one? They're not even doing anything right now! This would be the perfect time and place for another Tropic Thunder...just saying... sorry for the essay; but that's just how I feel about all this, honestly.

This movie is underrated. I love it. I feel that what makes it so good to me is it’s like when you’re trying to run a semi serious dnd campaign and it’s immediately derailed by your goofy friends. Then, instead of getting pissed about it you change the campaign and characters into something they want to play. I imagine the DM starting off making lazaar serious but then later getting silly with it shouting “jumping!” As the BBEG tries to get distance from the party in the final battle, or having the Minotaur start banging their npc helper. It’s crass, goofy, immature, and anachronistic in most of its dialogue, but this is exactly the sort of nonsense a dnd campaign can turn into if everyone is on board and the DM is chill.

@@tereziamarkova2822 I mean, my friends that did watch it only seemed to like the songs, with the actual humor being.... considerably less so. And not like, occasional clunkers-bad, I mean like downright offensive jokes. Like, I heard there was a lot of racist humor on the show.

This has the baddie shout "JUMPING" in the climax as he jumps, and that's what's stuck with me all these years. Delightful

Honestly, I loved this movie. It's not attempting to be highbrow or anything. It's the two actors playing their typical roles, who seem to really kind of be themselves, in a new setting that sets up all kinds of jokes and skewers the genre.

Still better than Queen Cleopatra , Peter Pan & Wendy or Morbius ...or many other to came as we appear to be in a total creative drought for few years now in Hollywood. Thank God for foreign cinema and series! I'm not saying everything from Hollywood is bad but it's a trickle of good movie and series nowadays, for one The Whale you get how many poorly made Star Wars , Marvel, Disney remake, disastrous DC ...etc. Hollywood running themselves into the ground when they could take small risks on good stories, writers and directors instead playing safe and producing failures.

I’ve been hosting a d20(ish)-based party with friends twice a month for over two years now with “heroic” fantasy characters who are driven only by their unquenchable desires to get high, get laid and avoid actual responsibility. It was inspired by this stupid movie and has grown into one of the most entertaining and hilarious experiences of my entire life. Yes, my life is that lame. But still.

As hard as it was to endure Ghostbusters 2016, I’m hopeful that it’s monumental failure meant the beginning of end of the improvised movie/tv show. It should be left to the only person who knows what he’s doing with it: Larry David.

I've been playing DnD for years. I ran a campaign that lasted over 4 years. When I watched this movie for the first time last month, I thought it was way more DnD than the actual DnD movies. Like this is the nonsense I had to deal with at the table. I love it!

David Gordon Green has had such a hilariously chaotic career. Man has a film in the Criterion collection, made a GREAT stoner comedy classic (not this) and also helmed a solid reboot to a classic horror franchise. Inversely, he’s responsible for this bomb and two Halloween sequels that are…divisive to say the least. Oh and can’t forget that Bones and All cameo lol.

Wow you hit the nail on the head with this. The worst part of your highness for me is that it was such a great premise and there was a few memorable and funny things, like the barbarian that joined them getting killed by the trap as quick as he did, lazaar saying magic mother fucker, his line about being rich living in a castle and doing fucking magic. the centaur trophy as crude as it was got a laugh out of me. I was 20 when this came out and like you found some of the dialogue to be needlessly crude to the detriment of the story or scene.
