Agreed with the date placement. This is one of the most underrated watches ever.
@bobmclennan17273 күн бұрын
For me, the real selling point about the date isn't the placement, it's the execution. It's easy to see the date when you think to yourself "what's today's date?" but it's also very easy to completely ignore it when you're not curious about today's date. It's a genuinely subtle feature.

I’m glad somebody brought up the fact that Seiko no longer put a metal frame around their dates on most models, even their seiko 5 models used to have them, making them look much more aesthetically pleasing with symmetry and a more detailed premium feel. But the 4:30 date window allows perfect symmetry with lume plots, complying with iso diving standards and making the date unassuming for when you are just checking the time.
@bngr_bngr2 күн бұрын
All of my Seiko divers that are at least 15 years old don’t have a metal frame around the date. Even a newer mini Tuna doesn’t have one. Yet my SARB and Cocktail Time do have them.

I bought mine in June 2024, a few weeks after this model was released. It is a beautiful watch, no doubt. But I had bad luck with its build quality. Now it is in repairs for the third time. First, the bezel was misaligned and the watch ran to slow. After regulating, the watch came back with still a bad bezel but also misaligned hands. After the second visit at Seiko the watch had good hands but still a misaligned bezel. Even worse, they changed the movement for no reason and that new movement ran almost a minute a day to fast. I hope, the issues will be fixed this time, because it is a beauty.

I think Seiko strives in cheaper watches and other classic models. But at this price range there’s honestly so many better options. That being said, they killed it these last couple years with a lot of their releases. Two I picked up were the Seiko 5 GMT and the Prospex Panda Chronograph. That chrono has been on my wrist nonstop since I bought it. Such a sweet watch and solar powered mechaquartz is pretty cool too. Very accurate and hoping for little maintenance! Like it so much I almost thought about getting a second one

Dive extension choice is simple. Seiko text says DIVER’S. They decided to be the thing, not approximate the thing. Would love if they’d do an on-the fly adjust clasp to do the job of that unused item. The JDM SBXY063 has a small clasp with a click or two of on-the-fly. Add three-four clicks more and put it on everything. Or do a shorter version of the MM300 ratcheting clasp.

Thing is , if you want a 62mas , then this wont cut it. The sla models 017 , 037 , 043 are the ones to get . Yes they are more expensive , but are worth it. The indices just look cheap to me on this watch , and the single bezel pip on the original 62 mas , can only be found on the sla models. The sla models are way nicer and higher quality , so spend your money on a good used one. The sla models are basically grand seikos , and are watches that you will want to keep forever. I love my 043 , it always impresses me , when i wear it . If you have a bigger wrist then get a spb051 /053 because these are great too , and can be picked up for under £500 now. Id say they are higher quality overall than these new models .
