Great to see you back in the air ZB. It amayzes me how consistent the Mini Talon platform is. It seems to have a very wide envelope for any gear you want to install. Thanks for the upload!

Cheers Pat, I can't think of any other FPV plane I'd rather be carting around and flying. :) Need to reduce gimbal PIDs a bit but seems to be flying fine. Hey, when are you planning on being back?

ZaksterBlue Around Mid August, probably good to fly September sometime. I’ve been pushing the Mavic to it’s limits but it’s just not the same as fixed wing. There’s loads of places left to explore!

Your channel has been pretty quiet. Look forward to catching up. You might be back in time to catch some snow down south.

Great video! Really good on the narration. Most KZbinrs don't, so thanks for sharing...

I know that this video is at least 3 years old it was wonderful thanks. I'm getting ready to maiden my Mini Talon and I'm just not sure where the CG marks should be I have read and watched a number of videos stating the little one page manual is wrong showing the CG at 50mm from the leading edge. I've noticed in this video you marked your CG with looks to be something round like little cups so you figures tips fit in them. Can you tell me what is the measurement from the leading edge to CG that you've used and are successful with. Thank you!!!

Hi, I use 60mm with the wings level and notice it is less prone to stalling when I slow for landing, compared to balancing further back.
@ZaksterBlue3 жыл бұрын
The general consensus in the RCGroups forum is 58-62mm.

@@ZaksterBlue Thank you so much. I'm going to maiden without a Flight Controller first and get it trimmed out. Thanks again!!!

Hi, your videos are awesome I follow you, can you male fixed wing uav with pixhawk 2.4.8?

Thanks for the comment! I'm very happy with my three iNav planes now, so I will stick with it. I did try arduplane on my ZOHD Dart XL but it had oscillation issues, and felt generally less agile and fun to fly than iNav.

never thought about balancing the motor on a FW, only on quads... great tip/

smitthone cheers, I balance motors on anything intended for video recording :)

How has your 9x6 prop and the ground cooperated with each other during landings? Will a balanced prop feather on an electric motor like a glow or gas will?

I've never broken one on landing after five years!

just adding my antennas, any ill effects from them being in front of the tail, disturbing clean airflow?
@ZaksterBlue6 жыл бұрын
Not that I've noticed, but I've always had them at the back. Keeping them away from the vtx antenna has priority for me. Stuff on the nose, especially stock without a cowl, creates more turbulence. Adding wing strakes like from the nano talon forum has helped for me.

OK thanks

Great video do you use a ground station anymore or just the goggle setup? I just bought the VAS 5.8 pepper box but have been using it on a seperate receiver and plugging in a lead. Do you have a build series of your talon I’m looking to get one. What battery do you use and roughly what is your flight time? I recently put ezuhf in my fx61 all seemed to check out on ground test but when I went for a fly at the beach it went nuts cutting throttle in and out wouldn’t respond and it came down, later figured out their was interference from cab radios down further so I have gone back to the FrSKY l9r
@ZaksterBlue6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, no ground station for me. Hard to beat the L9R for simplicity and performance. I've had it out >14km with more than 60% signal, stock antennas. If I wanted to go further, I'd consider the 900mhz version, but at this stage video range is my limiting factor. I don't have a MT build video... you don't really need one, the fuselage is so accessible that you can place things pretty easily. The main 'issue' I had on my first build was not extending the motor wires enough to be able to reach them to plug into the ESC plugs. You want the motor wires level with or slightly past the rear hatch access. Otherwise, a bit of gluing for the fuse and tail, and the wings just slide on and lock in place with a hex screw. I tape over the seam for additional security, but the wings are not glued on.

ZaksterBlue with the wings do you leave them install or remove for travel , I like the idea of the gimbal for HD at the front what size is the vtx and is it 5.8

Nice setup. I like the roll gimbal - is it the canopy 47009? I can't find the 57009 on Mark's website..

What kind of flight times do you get and what kind of battery do you use?
@ZaksterBlue6 жыл бұрын
Jon Greene Hi, with a 5A 4S I can cruise around at 65kph (airspeed) for about 40 minutes and still land with 15.1v. Many would fly their batteries down to lower voltages. On a 7A Li-Ion I could fly conservatively for around 1'15 before getting down to a safe low voltage.

Hi great video. I've got the same FC that I want to install in mine, but when I last used it my wing crashed when I enabled stabilisation mode, so I'm think one of the settings is wrong. Would you be able to post me pics of your FC screens? Thanks in advance?
@ZaksterBlue6 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry to hear about your crash! Do you have video? We might be able to tell what happened if you have footage (like if elevator or roll stabilisation direction was reversed). Showing you my settings probably won't resolve your issue as my settings are specific to my MT build and L9R receiver.
