In addition to the option of an LFP battery, the new 2024 Zeekr 001 has an optional Lidar, 800V architecture that can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in 15 minutes, and a new look like Zeekr 001 FR.

This is more than promising. It really feels like Zeekr has something significant here and the LFP advances are coming faster than I would have guessed. Even though the car is clearly a bit bulky fitting that much LFP in, the battery pack cost could be a real game-changer for the entire industry. CATLs technology is probably on the start and it can only get better from here.

@@johnfrancis4401 I have 3 friends now with Tesla 3's, all living in large regional country towns. Range and charging station issues have been a constant concern for them, much more problematic than they expected. One couple live in an apartment so they rely on charging stations which are often not working properly. I think an electric car is a great idea mechanically but powering the motor from a 500 kg battery full of toxic chemicals can hardly be a good thing environmentally in the long run.

Zeekr has got the cool factor figured out! I've tested it out real life and it justified the hype! Its fast, quality build inside and out, and very stylish... If they release it in Australia, It would be definately on the top of my shortlist to replace my Merc...

Zeekr 001 has set two Guinness World Records. The fastest drift by an EV, at 208 km/h and the fastest slalom by an EV with 50 cones in 49.05 seconds.

I love it!! Can't wait to drive it. Probably my next car when it arrives in Australia. We need evs with longer ranges given the lack of charging infrastructure here. Currently with my model 3 performance there are a lot of places I wouldn't dare take it but with this thing... Bring it on. Even has indicator stalks and ultrasonic sensors!

What people really want to know is highway range at about 120 kph. Range anxiety is based on that kind of speed.

LFP has less density, but you don't need to build in any hidden "headroom" to prevent short life from 100% cell charging like you do to protect a non-LFP battery, so they pretty much net the same range.

600 mile range would kill the Tesla charging network advantage here in the UK, you can get to most places under 300 miles so return to home for cheap charging the very reason Tesla do so well, long range cars and relatively cheap on the move charging but 600 miles means no on route charging required….things are about to get interesting !

It would also take longer to charge it at home but then again if you have a bigger trip you just charge two nights in a row instead of 1... I think 600 miles is an overkill but 400 could be a good number... but surely if 600 miles went down in price, sell me one

I wish they would just give range, calculated at 70mph. Where range really matters is on really long trips, and on most peoples long trips they take the motorway. At 70mph, this car probably covers 3 miles per kWh, giving its 95kWh battery 285 miles range

I agree, its the only figure that matters. The only time you'll ever need to worry about range is when you're driving on motorways. If you're driving round town or on little country roads you've got enough range.

In Stralya, we need this range. Not that we travel that far on the regular. It’s because our cities are further apart than most other countries. Also being that far apart we tend do more towing. This reduces range and even with our current charging network it would be inline with ICE vehicles. If Zeeker brought this vehicle to the land of oz, it would be very popular and probably outsell the Tesla model 3, probably all others in that class and higher price ranges. I would be keen as mustard to purchase one if it ever comes here. Until then I will set my sights on the model Y for now. Donya Sam! Love ya work champ. Keep it up.👍🏽

It has pretty good towing capabilities and with 255/55 R19 tyres you could put ATR tyres on it. Air suspension means you can raise it up for gravel and have ok ground clearance. I genuinely think it is the first EV I have seen that could really just do everything in Aus no problems

300 plus mile range from 80% charge down to 20% driven at 70mph highway speeds with the headlights on and either the heater or air-conditioning, 15-20 minute charge time... then I'll be interested!

Those figures give for Zerkr: LFP pack - 132 Wh/kg NCM pack - 165 Wh/kg Tesla Model S - 184 Wh/kg The Tesla model Y has a structural pack so the battery has structure that would otherwise be in the car. The LR version with structural pack with NCR cells must have an equivalent of over 200Wh/kg to make it worthwhile - 50% more than Zeekr LFP pack.

Interesting info on the new battery. Great progress if the cost really is falling that much. Please don't pretend that a 100kg difference in weight is insignificant, though. More weight increases consumption, worsens handling, causes more road damage.

i believe it will not going that direction. 400km is enough for most people. what people need is fast charging at 10 minutes (0-80%). most people dont drive that long, unless you re truck driver / taxi driver

Thoughts on this car? Like the range. Like the form factor. Undecided on the looks (honestly, I don't really care about the looks), but more than that, I'm interested in the integration of technology compared to Tesla. It'll be interesting to see a comparison. I'd like to see a Tesla model Y with the larger range, because that seems like my preferred car. If there's a performance version, or the long range with the upgrade, that will seem like a bargain.

Styling is similar to my Mach E, for 40k USD and likely 60k Canadian and 700km range I think that would do well here. If they want us to transition to mostly EVs they gotta bring in some more affordable brands

Sam the difference is a LFP battery is no good in a high performance EV because it can’t discharge quickly enough to give lightning power. Otherwise they are better.

The weight of the battery pack will be crucial for the UK market in the coming Years as we are about to get charged extra per certain overall vehicle weight. The new up coming pay per mile charge in London will consider the overall weight of the car. The heavier it is the greater the pay charge. And this is not exclusive for London and UK. Many of EU countries and Cities are introducing extra road and parking charges based on size of the vehicle (mainly SUVs for now) and its weight and this trend is spreading quickly with Westminster Council in London UK is first to introduce such extra parking charges starting this Year.

The 140kWh version has been discontinued for the facelifted version. So 100kWh is the maximum on offer, which is sufficient...

With a 600 Mi range, most users would never need to take the battery very far from 50% charge. So it's going to last much longer.

Now I would take the Zeekr. I'm not a big fan of the EV because as a serious traveler, EVs just doesn't deliver in long range. I would take this over the Tesla because Tesla makes tiny little cars and I prefer a large full size luxury automobile. Now I don't know the metric system but I'm told that the Zeekr can deliver a range of over 600 miles. My jaguar XJL delivers a range of 570 miles which superceeds any EV sold in America currently. This will serve me well when over the road. Bring this to America 🇺🇸 and EV owners will have a real reason to boast the EV. You can keep the computer crap. Give me a standard dash...lol!!

I calculate that the NMC battery pack is still 25% more energy dense than the LFP pack in the 2024 Zeekr 007. The NMC pack is 165 Wh/kg whereas the LFP pack is 132 Wh/kg. I probably would chose the LFP pack because it will have double the cycle life and you can charge it up to 100% and discharge it to 0% without worrying about capacity loss, but it is downright wrong to say that there isn't much difference in energy density. There is still a performance advantage to NMC, which is why Tesla uses it in its higher end models, whereas the Model 3/Y Standard Range use LFP.

Pretty sure we won’t see any Model Y’s with the CATL high density battery in the U.S. for a long time, if ever as Tesla, along with several other EV makers, are nearing solid state introductions.

I'm holding out for the new Model Y with the improved LFP battery from CATL... I hope it's true. I'm sure it won't get the $7500 tax credit though, but it won't matter if Tesla can get the car price down a little due to the lower battery cost.

Whats up with their golden battery? Geely has Volvo for their dealerships in USA. BYD needs a similar brand to outlet their EVs. What about Mazda or Subaru? We need price competitive EV deployment in the USA market to explode growth. This Tesla knows and is why it shared its charging stations. Get the volumes up and prices will fall. Battery range and battery prices are now excellent. Growing pains are evident. The sooner ICE buying ends the better for the planet. Renewable and sustainable is what's its all about. Go Geely, Telsa, BYD.

This must be some of exotic LFP. Typically they hace low energy density thus a 150 Kwh pack could so @600 mile of range. If you have @$110k to spend on a very heavey car. 😊

You can promote this EV as much as you want, but it has little chance of success in Europe. If it’s sold in China for 40,000 euros, it will likely cost around 80,000 euros in Europe. Do you believe that people in the EU will be willing to purchase a Chinese EV at this price point? Another critical factor is the dealership network and after-sales services. What happens if there are issues with these cars? While building quality vehicles is commendable, selling them outside of China presents significant challenges. This isn’t just a concern for Cherry; it applies to all Chinese car manufacturers.

You used to convert range to stricter range estimation, here you just don't mention that it is the chinese range estimate, which is more optimistic

Problem with all these no Naim, low production number cars. Even if they give them away for cheap.. That means the parts are going to be extremely expensive. That’s where they make up their profits.. There’s going to be almost no dealers to service the vehicle for service centers. B and most likely they will not release the repair data to third-party private repair shops, leaving customer stranded for weeks or months when the vehicle breaks down And highly likely they’ll go bankrupt and out of business leaving customers with bricks when they break down and there’s no more parts .
