ZT 0609 Review - I Wish I Liked It More

Hey guys welcome back to another knife review.
This time it's going to be the Zero Tolerance 0609.
This knife was designed by RJ Martin, and is the first ZT to feature the "See Through Pivot".
There are a few things about this knife that really hold me back from liking it as much as I’d like to, which I definitely get into.

I know this is way late and you may know this by now, but you can tighten the pivot a bit to correct centering, being a frame lock those are the easiest to adjust. If it favors the show side, tighten, if it favors the lock side, loosen(In very small increments then check of course). Usually.

This is my first knife I've owned so I'm no expert, however my feeling about the lock bar tension and how uncomfortable it is to use is identical to yours. My centering seemed just fine. The flipping action seems a bit stiff and I'm hoping to loosen it up and re-lub it once my tool comes in. Of course, I don't think there is any fix for the lock bar tension and comfort. I've drifted away from ZT recently after starting my higher end production knife buying with KAI! I wasn't impressed with their lack of quality control compared to Spyderco, Viper, LionSteel, WE, etc! Around Christmas I gave ZT another chance on bought the 0609 and it was a total bomb! Off center, gritty action, blade play, and a lockbar I could push over....no Bueno! Sent it back and bought a Spyderco Carribbean. No more ZTs for me. Thanks for video

You missed several salient points. One, if your centering, lock bar tension etc seems "off" KAI will fix it at no charge. Two, you CAN adjust lock bar tension, you must be careful and be willing to disassemble/reassemble multiple times to do it correctly. Tiny bits of correction and TRY it, do not over stress the lock bar. Yes, you can purchase the tool, its very well made and undoubtedly worth the money if you are prone to tinkering with your knife but you can use any adjustable spanner (I use one originally purchased for disassembling camera lenses) or even fine needle nosed pliers. (I'd tape everything up first in case you slip). Mine came smooth and just tight enough so the blade doesn't fall under its own weight. Fit and finish is typical ZT, centering is dead on. I prefer a knife just a little thicker in hand, but other than that it is a worty top tier offering.

Like I mentioned in the video, I did send it in, but they just said it was within their manufacturing specs, which is why it was disappointing. And I could almost deal with the lockbar tension if everything else was on point, but seeing as I already had thought to send it in, I didn't want to chance voiding my warranty by taking it apart and messing with the tension and possibly ruining it. Either way, I expect better from a knife of this price point (and from ZT) and it shouldn't have these issues to begin with. I feel like that's pretty fair Edit- this is coming from someone who is a big fan of ZT and have never had issues with them in the past

Maybe you got a model where the lockbar is more tight than normal? And from this you got a off center blade and no fall shut?

Yeah I'm thinking it's possible, don't know how likely that is, but possible...
