Mine was a 2005 model but it’s essentially the same as earlier models, Only minor differences. You have to pull the front fairings forward to fit the air box otherwise it will get damaged.

Is it worth just turning off the fuel and running it dry?. It might leave a little in the float bowl but would that be ok?

Hi there, I've got an e2 zzr 600 in bits, lovely bike. I'm a novice. Took carbs apart to clean. On one of the diaphrams I think of over done it. Soaked in vinegar for too long, taken off some of the metal. Hard to say for you I know but will this affect bike? Mitch

As long as the rubber diaphragms are not damaged it should be ok. I only use carb cleaner on metal parts as it evaporates quite quickly.

A novice who soaks carb diaphragms in vinegar says it all. Muppet.
