Beware, I have a Mitutoyo 547-561S Digimatic thickness gauge (same type as used here) and there is one huge problem with using this instrument to measure neck thickness. In order to get an accurate measurement, the case has to be absolutely square with the flat upper measuring rod. If it isn't, you'll get wildly differing measurements because the distance between the upper shaft and the fixed anvil changes. It's possible to get accurate measurements but it is very time consuming and you certainly can't spin the case to get a reading on how the thickness varies. This is not the case for the neck thickness tools by Redding and Sinclair witch support the case with a rod that goes through the flash hole. I'm going to be selling my Mitutoyo and pick up a tube micrometer since that should be easier to get an accurate measurement at one point.

How small of a diameter do they make that roller? It would be sweet to have an entire barrel blank that smooth in a 6ppc before it’s rifled!

I have a tool for the 22LR chamber but it is much too short for a barrel bore. It is a good idea to burnish a barrel before rifling. I special tool would be required for a job like this and at this time there is no tool suitable.

The REAL reassembly "trick" is to push down on the front of the slide. Zoom in and slow it down and you will see the take-down tabs move. Without the recoil spring, it's easy. With the spring it is impossible if you don't push down.

I don’t know if that barrel is screw cut or if a moderator has been used. Here in the UK they are common place. Mods will cause bad rust pitting on a barrel if left on the rifle even for short periods. The ammonia produced in mods is amazing. I now attach and remove mods directly before and after use. Run a bore snake through it and clean it regularly. My RFD demonstrated one shot through a brand new mod. The stench of Ammonia after one shot was unbelievable. The problem doesn’t seem to affect stainless barrels nearly as much however they will still rust.

Late to the show, but.. I got hold of a Brno model 5 from 1958 in mint condition, the bolt innards still full of factory thick grease - think cosmoline. I use Warne two-piece mounts for a modern 1 inch scope. The factory issued one-piece rail was topped with a W.D. no 3663. 2,5x18 scope, 22 mm steel tube. The manufacturing details of that mount is incredibly facinating - the screws with excentric cylindrical heads for a flush mounting but no screw slots for example.

37 thousands of an inch😂 you now you know why we have metric.😂 Simply 1.6 times the small mm unit. So 1.6mm ....compared to37/1000 th of a weird inch which is 2.54mm.... oh man. Calculating and converting units in the us is difficult. How many cubic inches do you need for 1 gallon? 😂😂

Glad you added the comment on speed loader clearance, especially when using "target" grips. It is wise to check speed loader clearance regardless of what grips you install, combat or target. Although it should be obvious, shooting a handgun with target grips like the ones you show installed with the opposite hand is near impossible. Yes, I've seen people try because they forgot to take it into account. Laughable at the range but not so much on the street. Be careful and choose wisely. Thanks for posting. Cheers!

Yes, Tisas site cuts are not the same as standard cuts, at least that’s what I found with my 1911 D10. The Bomar cut on the gun is not the same spec and when I tried to install a red dot plate with bomar cut it didn’t fit. Good luck if you try to change out your sites on a Tisas. They’re great guns but the dovetail cuts are not standard. Oh yes, I had to use a sight pusher to get the original rear site off my gun. Super tight fit and came off really hard. Hopefully as Tisas guns get more popular there will be aftermarket sights that actually fit the dovetails.

In the final part of the video you can clearly see that the flat surface of the end of the barrel has some sunburst-shaped irregularities due to the milling. You should have used the lathe.

Just came across this video. Looks like a solid pilot reamer that caught some chips and chattered. They are more expensive, but the use of a reamer with a floating pilot that fixes itself in the bore and the reamer turns inside the pilot would help alleviate this sort of thing.

fact of the matter just because a barrel looks bad, doesn't mean it wont shoot ,have a BSA 222 from the 50s ,with pitting, and when you put a patch through it catches ,drags but it will put bullets touching at 100 yards

Because I'm a numpty I watched the series of videos showing this procedure in reverse. All I know is it's all well explained and executed. A simple process that requires lots of careful double checking. Just on squares I've noticed the ones that are from a 'well known overseas country who seems to make everything cheap', are often 0.5 degrees off square.
@ozzistraightshooter92737 ай бұрын
Thank you Leo for looking through the videos and for your excellent comments. The video has a limited audience for such a specialist job. But similar process's for mounting sights on rifles can be applied to other types of rifles as well.

Nice work, well explained and good gun mechanism sounds. There's a US guns KZbin I have followed for years who's in a battle. His name is Paul Harrell. It sounds like he has something terminal. Paul was very good at explaining the relationship between a gun user, their weapon and the ammunition. 3 huge fudge factors that can each create chaos if not matched up correctly. He was also very good for info on guns for home defence and personal protection. I learned from him just how useful a shotgun is for sweeping out your home of unwanted pests. Mind you In Australia it's all unachievable. Maybe we need guns back in homes to prevent the teen crime crisis. Pretty obvious the Police are useless.
