Morphine Clark is not only a graceless and crass portrayer of fake Galadriel, she’s also not much to look at. Top that off with wooden “acting” and you have a recipe for a travesty and an utter ruination of a character. Thumbs WAY down on this crap. Shame on Scamazon for assassinating what was supposed to be a wise, beautiful, graceful, and powerful character and crassly shoving in an utterly despicable, idiotic and nasty “girl boss” twat that nobody likes. I for one will never give this feculent travesty one single second of my time or one red cent of my money. I wish it utter failure and sincerely hope it fades painfully into faceless obscurity as it deserves. Way to flush a billion down the toilet, Scamazon.

aladriel, one of the most powerful and complex characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, has often been the subject of debate, particularly when portrayed as a warrior. Critics frequently overlook key aspects of her character and history, fixating on modern interpretations that depict her in combat. However, a deeper dive into Tolkien’s works reveals that Galadriel’s stature, age, wisdom, and inherent power make her not only one of the most formidable beings in Middle-earth but also perfectly capable of wielding strength and power, including in battle. Physical and Spiritual Power: A Towering Presence Galadriel stands at an imposing height of 6 feet 4 inches, making her taller than most elves and humans in Middle-earth. Her height symbolizes not only her physical prowess but also her royal lineage, as she is a direct descendant of the Elven High Kings. Tolkien described her as possessing an almost divine beauty and majesty, further enhancing her commanding presence. In The Silmarillion, it’s noted that she is one of the greatest of the Eldar, the High Elves who left Valinor. Her sheer physical stature, combined with her towering intellect and immense spiritual strength, is not to be underestimated. Galadriel is over 8,000 years old by the time of The Lord of the Rings. She lived through the Years of the Trees, saw the creation of the Silmarils, and witnessed the rise and fall of Morgoth. Her longevity alone grants her a depth of experience and knowledge unmatched by nearly anyone in Middle-earth, save the Istari (wizards) and a few other ancient elves. This immense age gives her the ability to strategize and engage in political or military matters with wisdom and far-sightedness beyond human understanding. If a being has lived through thousands of years of war, rebellion, and struggle, the idea that she is unfamiliar with combat or unable to wield weapons effectively becomes absurd. Warrior and Leader: Galadriel’s Historical Feats In The Silmarillion, Galadriel is depicted as a leader among her people, joining the rebellion against Morgoth alongside the other Noldor elves. Although her role in the conflict is not always explicitly martial, she is described as being strong in body, mind, and spirit. Tolkien himself referred to her as having an “Amazon disposition,” indicating that she possessed the physical and mental fortitude of a warrior. Critics often ignore that Galadriel lived through wars that spanned millennia, including the War of Wrath, which led to Morgoth’s defeat, and later the conflicts involving Sauron. She was no passive observer; she was deeply involved in these events, whether by leading, advising, or taking more direct action. Her wisdom and strength come not only from knowledge and counsel but also from having lived through some of the darkest and most violent periods in the history of Middle-earth. In fact, one of Galadriel’s most pivotal moments came when she took up arms against Sauron in the Second Age. During the War of the Elves and Sauron, Galadriel led resistance efforts and later played a role in the downfall of his fortress in Dol Guldur during the Third Age. This historical context solidifies her reputation as more than capable of taking an active role in battle, even if Tolkien did not write elaborate scenes of her wielding a sword on the front lines. Her actions helped preserve the balance of power in Middle-earth and paved the way for the eventual defeat of Sauron. Galadriel’s Innate Power: Strength Beyond the Physical Galadriel’s power does not stem from mere physicality alone. She is one of the most powerful users of magic in Middle-earth, wielding powers that are both subtle and profound. As the bearer of Nenya, the Ring of Water, Galadriel’s abilities extend to preservation and protection, and she maintains the beauty and safety of Lothlórien through her magic. However, her magical prowess is not confined to nurturing landscapes; she is a formidable opponent in any contest of wills, capable of resisting even the power of the One Ring when Frodo offers it to her. Her refusal of the Ring is one of her greatest feats of strength. In that moment, she reveals the depth of her self-control, as she could have used the One Ring’s power to become a Dark Queen, ruling over Middle-earth with terrible might. But she chose wisdom and restraint, showing that true power is not just about physical combat, but also about the strength of character and mind. Her ability to resist Sauron’s temptation proves that her strength is not one-dimensional; it is multifaceted and rooted in her vast experience, wisdom, and integrity. Criticism of Her Warrior Role: Why It’s Misguided Many critics of Galadriel’s portrayal as a warrior seem to misunderstand the depth of her character. Some argue that her role should be confined to that of a wise, serene ruler, as seen in The Fellowship of the Ring. However, this perspective ignores the broader context of her life and experiences, and it limits her to a single archetype. Galadriel is a complex figure who embodies both the nurturing aspects of a queen and the strength of a warrior. Suggesting that Galadriel should not be depicted as capable of combat or leadership in war diminishes the richness of her character. She is not some delicate, otherworldly figure removed from the harsh realities of Middle-earth. She has lived through the most cataclysmic events in the world’s history and survived. It’s simply ludicrous to argue that such a being, who has faced down some of the greatest evils ever known, would be incapable of standing tall in battle when needed. Conclusion: A Power Beyond Measure Galadriel is one of the most extraordinary characters in Tolkien’s legendarium, and any portrayal of her that includes combat or direct displays of power is not a departure from her character but an affirmation of it. She is tall, strong, wise, and one of the most experienced beings in all of Middle-earth. Whether through magic, leadership, or direct action, Galadriel is every bit as formidable as the greatest warriors of her age, and any attempt to diminish her strength misunderstands the depth of her character and the full breadth of her abilities. So, the next time someone questions whether Galadriel should be portrayed as a warrior, remind them of her age, her stature, her power, and her unmatched experience. She isn’t just powerful - she’s a force of nature, and that’s exactly how Tolkien intended her to be.

As much as love rewriting flawed projects myself, this show is simply beyond saving. The only option I see is to forget its existence and build from the ground up, actually looking to the lore for your foundation.

Even if you take out ALL of the Tolkien "lore" and treat it as random fantasy series, it still sucks. Writing SUCKS ass and all the characters are really unlikable. Well, maybe not Durin, Disa and Elrond. But okay acting can only take you so far, when the writers and directors undermine you constantly.😅

The thing that bothers me most about this version of Galadriel is that she isn't smart. Elrond is the only one who's clocked the problem and somehow Gil-galad is ignoring him, the advisor he could always trust and listening to the person who got taken in by Sauron in the first place.

This is 5000 years before our traditional LOTR trilogy takes place. Basically what we are seeing is an adolescent Galadriel. JRR Tolkien barely described anything about her character in Silmarillion. Amazon was given rights to fill in gaps and required to put every character in accurate events according to the books

I would accept almost any story a show wants to give me on middle earth strictly because I always want more. But they need to do it properly. If they want Galadriel to be a young warrior driven by revenge, fine. Write it correctly. I'm done with all of these movies and shows that dont understand how to show rather than tell, that create unnecessary secrets that serve no plot, and that struggle with pacing.

Let's not forget Luthien, without whom Beren would not have gotten that Silmaril. Not a warrior by any means, bit strength doesn't just mean power in battle. Luthien had power greater than that that she put the whole of Angband, and Morgoth himself, to sleep. There are tons of strong women, both power wise and personality wise, in Tolkien's works.
@ashersdad1755Күн бұрын
The problem is the same as ever other female character of the last 5-10 years....she needs to look 2020 strong female.....I.e. she needs to know and show that shes already the hero and all the male characters should just shut up and do what she says because she was born female and is better than everyone else because of that.....if you need too diminish all other characters for your intended hero to be so than its not a hero or a character at that point its an ideology that will destroy the whole story. Writers go back and read the works and if you pay attention just a little bit you'll see how to rigjt in a female character that commands respect without needing to spend a bunch of screen time turning the rest of your characters into simple bumbling fools to make your hero seem the best choice

@@TheStorytellersGuild1 I meant the very first scene you described. It was orders of magnitude better than the clips and descriptions of the show's that I've watched and heard about here on KZbin. @@TheStorytellersGuild1 Your beginning, flashback seems shorter than that in the show, and brevity is usually preferable. Yours makes Sauron seem more of a leader/spiritual figure above the kind of shenanigans the show. Your beginning also seems true to the source material of Sauron voluntarily withdrawing, hopefully (for him) to go unnoticed by everyone from the Valar, to the elves, to men, dwarves, and any allies of those who defeated his former master. Finally, Sauron's words in your beginning shows his plan of someday returning to make himself and his allies mighty again, and next time win. It does, therefore, give a sense of foreboding.

In my humble opinion, it's hard to make a good series with elves being the main characters since they are too perfect for it. That's why they had to portrait them as greedy or more human, otherwise it could be a little boring. It could have been way better delivered though, the writing, plot, pacing, dialogues etc 😅.

The problem with Rings of Power is that it is made by, made for, and made in an era where the remixing of music, the remaking of films, and the retelling of stories is the dominant form of media creation. Its the sign of a dying civilization when you are more focused on re telling the old and not creating new.

I don’t think Galadriel is the worst thing about the show. I dislike her, but there are many worst things… the dialogue, the bad writing, the missed opportunity to show a second age middle earth and, instead, the choice to constantly reference the PJ movies… There should be no hobbits, no Gandalf, and the Halbrand thing was so pointless. You are definitely right, that creators had a good idea, but execution butchered I'd. I can definitely imagine warrior Galadriel driven by vengeance misunderstood by other elves. The thing is, her wrath should be cold, and the misunderstand should be an effect of her wisdom, that she understand Sauron more than the others. Maybe not 100% in accordance with the lore, but much closer to it.
