Just sending a greeting and I hope you read it. 😊 I'm a massage therapist from Sweden, and I love your videos!! They're so helpful and inspirational! After doing 14 years of massaging I was starting to feel it in my own body, and your videos have been a great help and reminder of how much one can do at home. Now I'm better at taking the time to stretch, deep breathe and use massage balls to take care of my body so I'm able to continue helping others for hopefully many years to come. Thanks a lot! ❤😊

I think spine stifness is There for some reason . it is a safety mechanisme. Touching it with foam roller and lacross ballon going to Make it stiffer and sapasming. For me I ignore glutes but focus on the spine stability gives me an automatically activated glutes maybe the spine feels it's safe and give me some added mobility
@YourWellnessNerd9 сағат бұрын
I hear you mate. Everything has to happen for a reason and I agree it’s often a response to something else. However putting pressure through the spine doesn’t stiffen or tighten it further - especially if you’re working at a level that feels comfy and respectful. Strengthening things are always a good idea, it just may also help to ask those areas to loosen specifically as well.

Hey Grant. Great video!! Well explained. Is there a reason you left out the banded Ankle mobility from this video which you included in your first plantar fasciitis video? Also for someone with pretty bad symptoms (4 months ongoing, hobble around, red swollen sole, first thing in the morning is death), from what you've seen in clinic, how long does it take to resolve this issue with the exercises prescribed ?
@YourWellnessNerd8 сағат бұрын
Hey Shane! No reason for leaving it out other than just give a few other options a go instead. If a person mobilised their ankle and felt a genuine change then it’s obviously a part of the puzzle. It’s hard to comment on how long it should take someone, as each person is different. However, for every exercise that you do you deserve to see an immediate impact from that exercise-with a view that as progress stacks up each person should feel they’re getting that little bit closer to the symptoms going away.

I fell 15 years ago and landed on my left side with a toddler in my arms. No apparent injury at the time. Soreness for a few days. I was 60 at the time. Over the years, I have been told that I strained my QL. I quit PT since it made the pain SO MUCH worse for days after a session. I have found a few spine stretches that help. I am an active older adult. I do what I can do!

This issue has absolutely wrecked everything. I was training regularly, swimming. Scuba diving, working as a professional audio engineer and travelling. This issue got so bad it stopped me from working and nobody could help figure out what it was. I was rejecting so many times. They’ve MRId everything, my spine, my hip socket, my SI joint, numerous times. Nuclear CT. A pain doc sat me down this week and told me he thinks it’s muscular dysfunction. I’m not saying he’s wrong but no physio has been able to help me find anything that has helped me. I do the work. The work just hasn’t done the job over the last 7 years. It’s not like I’m expecting people to wave a magic wand but I’m out of my depth, clearly.

Why do some people recommend heel lift inserts for this then? My orthopedist made me get one
@YourWellnessNerd5 күн бұрын
It depends on their perspective to be honest. A heel lift can help manage a person’s symptoms for sure as it can unload the ankle, but if you wind things back something like a heeled shoe can be the underlying cause of the ankle stiffness associated with it in the first place. I’d be happy to recommend a heel lift in the shot term for certain people, but the long term goal should always be to feel comfortable again without them as that is normal.
@kristenshine85415 күн бұрын
@@YourWellnessNerd thanks for replying! That makes sense for sure. I’m going to get custom orthotics and I’m starting PT this week. I’m just a little discouraged because I’ve had soreness for a year now after injuring myself during marathon training. Weeks go by and I feel somewhat fine and then I walk up a hill and then it’s back to square one.
@YourWellnessNerd5 күн бұрын
@@kristenshine8541 hopefully you can figure out what’s a little stiff and tight around it as well. Often there are some broader levers you can pull to improve how a troublesome spot is loaded!

what you say about lower back is ok. stretching the muscle using that ball is no good. it further stretches a weakened tendon that needs gradual strength exercises to recover.
@YourWellnessNerd5 күн бұрын
I will respectfully disagree there mate. The ball can be a great way to improve the mobility of restricted areas. Strength is also important but not at the expense of targeted mobility.

Try being a female who carries a bit of weight due to the reduced physical function after a fall forty five years ago...In early 20's ...years of pain...been through the mill...finally at age 65 the treatment for this condition has finally been renamed and treatments are helping. Starting on my physio journey with young physios...sorry...old ones have no idea...they didn't do any new learning since they trained in the 70's and 80's. Thankfully I never went down the path to injections. Never too late...Thank you for all you do.

Thanks for this, much GP has told me that it will go away but I have an added problem as RA patient, having had multiple joint replacements since a teenager, all very successful, but this rib pain is new to me , and thinking of possibly getting referred to physio . I'm so uncomfortable underneath the right ribcage when driving, I also experience severe cramping spasms in the same area when doing something simple like leaning forward to remove socks etc , forcing me to straighten up quickly to ease and get rid of cramp !

After a decade of working on internal rotation, this isn't the fix. My personal situation seems to be an environmental dysfunction, vs an internal problem. It's bad systems, processes and routines, vs a need to focus on internal rotation. Root cause diagnostics is integral to long term solutions.
