is this good for fpv flying? anybody? need answers

Nice comparison, thank you. I had the pocket og two times and sold the last one for the bmpcc4k when it came out. Now in 2024 I am thinking about buy the OG again but your Video tells me not to but you can change my mind ;) Since the image is very similar the biggest advantage of the OG is the size. But the crop factor remains a problem for wide shots. Also you need to rig out the OG with a better mic and batteries which makes the whole size argument obsolete. The 4k can be used with a bunch of canon batteries and the internal mics are not that bad for atmo sound. My dream camera would be a bmpcc4k with its features and sensor size but with the size of the pocket og and a buttom called ARRI look. Done.

I never found any in camera Noise Reduction option available with GH5, went thru the user manual and found nothing. Where did you turn on the in camera Noise Reduction on the GH5???? Are you using GH5 II or GH5???
@javieralejandrogonzalezvillalo23 күн бұрын
The option it's available with the settings for each profile, so if you go to Cine Like D you can choose the Noise Reduction (NR) to be between -5 and +5 and so on for all other pictures profile

Quick question, I can see that the 3.5mm mic adapter has a Type-C port does it mean that it has a charging passthrough so that you can charge the device while the external mic is attached?

Thank you. Nice video, but your argument doesn't really make sense as a general case. Yes, it proved that for you with this specific 1080p recorder there was no benefit. I will dig out my recorder and see if this is true for me as well. I'll post a link if I find anything relevant.

A bit late to the party, but the Pocket 1st gen is iso invariant, the gain is applied digitally AFTER the ADC... Thus there is no change in the dynamic range distribution as you change iso... Look up Tom Marjeski's comment on the Blackmagic forums for a clearer explainer... But if you had fixed the exposure and set the brightest part of your scene to just about clip, and then lowered the iso, you should find that it still clips, just being grey rather than white... The information would still be lost however... Hope this helps...

@@carlscinema7086 0:40 - 0:55... You changed the shutter to compensate for the iso change, thus it is not a like-for-like comparison... You're changing the signal-to-noise ratio thus, as you said, the lower iso's will give a cleaner image... This is not due to the iso change, but rather, a change in the produced signal-to-noise ratio as a result of the shutter change, NOT the iso change... Do the test again but ONLY change the iso, get the highlights to just about clip at the highest ISO, then drop the iso WITHOUT changing anything else... You'll find that you have no additional highlight detail as the analog voltage gain of the sensor is not changing... It is well documented that the physical BMPCC sensor is iso-invariant... Whist you approach may be somewhat relevant in practical use cases, the conclusion reached is demonstrably false...
@carlscinema70863 ай бұрын
What you are arguing doesnt contradict the video at all. I suggest you rewatch it. Changing the ISO doesn't change the signal, but using a different ISO may get you to expose differently, which in turn will change the signal, essentially over or underexposing the sensor. But simply changing the ISO setting does not affect the dynamic range.
@KekeLauda3 ай бұрын
@@carlscinema7086 the way the video is presented suggests that different iso’s produce different images, but as long as you understand that changing the iso has no material effect, that is fine…

How to shoot for Vertical videos without comprising quality?
@suzKawasakiАй бұрын
Just set orientation to auto and turn it sideways.

Hi Carl! this is very helpful, but I have a question, is this process better than just shooting linear? why is that? Thanks a lot!!
@carlscinema70864 ай бұрын
If you shoot linear in camera you will be limited to just that one fov, which is the equivalent to medium. By doing it in post you can use more of the sensor and get a wider fov, if thats something you want. Compare the fov of the 4:3 lens corrected image at the end of this video to the linear in the video I'll link here, they are shot from the same distance. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nafEkpZ-fKimgc0si=zPI3kuVgZumeKPHp&t=142 at 2:22

Bougt it when it came out, in 2024 I still use it, as a filmmaker with a small Feiyu gimbal and nd filters, it still delivers great image when you know how to set it right and using it in the right conditions...On the other hand, I might upgrade it to a 12, I hope it is a gap...

I already noticed that the footage coming from my BMMCC is harder to colour correct then raw material from other cams.

I picked one up about a month ago for $50 to use trail riding in the truck. For my needs, it's fantastic! I see them regularly going for $90-$125 on marketplace. *You CAN remove the front lens. Pull very hard on the lens and turn it to the left ( if you're looking the camera head-on ) It is kind of hard to do, but a few pulls and turns should do the trick. There are replacement lenses and filters available on the zon.
