One time, I apologized to my 4 year old for something, and he gave me a hug and said, “It’s okay, Mama. We all make mistakes sometimes.” ❤️ My dad was having dinner at my house, so he witnessed this encounter. He said, “Seriously? You’re apologizing to a child? You’re the parent. You don’t apologize. This is why kids are soft these days.” 🤔😓🫠

Praying to anyone other than to Jesus is an attempt to consult the dead; necromancy... This is specifically forbidden in scripture, Deuteronomy 18:10-12, 1 Chronicles 10:13-14, Isaiah 8:19-20, etc...

There's NO biblical evidence or example or teaching that it is one possible to pray to the dead and two reason for doing so Please don't tell me it's just like praying for each other because it's not !!

Saying that this text is an "invocation of St. Titus" as in "a prayer to St. Titus", seems far-fetched. (And I'm Catholic.) But at the very least, the text "invokes St. Titus", as in the sense that it references St. Titus as a source of authority; perhaps it the text was believed to have been handed down by him. It could also be a prayer "in the name of St. Titus," in the sense that it is a prayer "through St. Titus" or "by St. Titus", which he prays for us in Heaven before the Throne of God. This is a long way from the Evangelical Protestant vision of early Christianity, anyway. It's a valuable find, validating the Catholic vision of Church history, but there are some nuances I see missing in the discussion.

Don't discount Marcion who essentially gave us the foundation or the NT. "At the time if the reformation" -- what a biased way to frame the question. Other books WERE added since the beginning. Cleaely youre biased, especially by calling anyone whi isn't Catholic a "Prot". Many Christians are ans eere neither from the beginning.

Having grown up a Baptist pastor’s daughter, then gone to Liberty University, then gone to non-denominational Protestant churches my entire adult life (I’m 37), I will say that EVERYTHING I ever heard about the Catholic Church was negative, and based on rumors rather than firsthand accounts or primary sources. While I was taught to respect saints and look to them as godly examples of how to live, I was told that praying to saints was idolatry. I was taught that Mary was just a regular woman with a pure heart, and this was always enveloped in sermons about how God uses the least likely, most ordinary people if they’ll just step out in faith. I was always told that the Catholic Church doesn’t want Catholics to read their Bibles, but just to glean all of their life-guiding principles from the Catechism. I was always told that the Catholic Church was PAGAN, and that the reformers essentially cleansed the church from these wicked practices. Whenever I’d question why the Baptist church has a particular belief about a particular subject, but the Methodist church down the road and the Assemblies of God church across the street believe completely differently, and all 3 believe that their way is the one right and true way, I was always told, “In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.” In fact, I always thought that was a Bible verse! And it never made sense to me that the Bible would say it’s okay for all of these Christians to have differing beliefs. Turns out, it was a quote from a theologian, Rupertus Meldenius. 🤯 This year, we sent our son to pre-K at a highly rated Catholic school near us. At first, my dad (former Baptist pastor) and my grandpa (current Baptist deacon) both warned me that I’d better be very careful what I was filling my son’s head with. So, I started going to OCIA classes to learn more, as well as listening to Catholic podcasts. It has been SO enlightening to unpack all of the lies I was told. I will not be completing the process this year. My kids passed bronchitis, pneumonia, and stomach viruses around for the better part of 2 months and I missed so many, it was just overwhelming. I’d love to go through it again next fall. Still learning.

This needs to be understood by protestants: the Eucharist is not the infinitude of JESUS, nor ever is alone JESUS nor takes the place of HIS immediate anthropomorphic semblance, nor is the totality of HIS PERSON, but is an extension of HIS Inxarnation, as furthermore the Church is an extension of HIS Body, and so, when we behold the LAMB OF GOD, we see it in HIS invisible PERSON, HIS human form in Heaven, and this Sacrament as a composite Unity, in which HIS whole PERSON, wholly divine, is immediately accessed all at once. We are not disecting the Eucharist from the rest of HIS PRESENCE and reducing HIM to the Bread and Wine that became HIS Flesh and Blood. Let it be noted that HE has attached HIS SOUL as much to the matter and form of consecrated Bread and Wine as to the anthropomorphic fleas and blood material derived from Mary. Disobedience to a commandment concerning normal food separated the material world from spiritual Grace, depriving humans of the garb of Angels, but the Eucharist is one of the Sacraments that reunite aspects if the material universe with the SPIRIT in the lives of humans, and is a supernatural Gift we ought not to miss out on. One aspect of yhe New Covenant is that it cannot be reduced to according to the Letter, thetefore sola Scriptura is ruled out. The Testament is first of all something passed on in person, but the Scriptures are a flawless, though not all-comprehensive or independant or sole, Witness. In deed, a Covenant is an exchange of persons, not of goods like in a mere contract, although goods proper to a person might also, thus, be entered into the realization of this Covenant. GOD needed nothing from Abraham, but came, years after establishing a Covenant with him, just to visit him as a FRIEND, and made him sble to show hospitality HE didn't need by allowing him the chance to feed HIM and apply cool water to HIS Feet. In the new and everlasting Covenant, HE gives us the Eucharist that combines hospitality with Communion and participation in HIS Sacrifice.

It is not at all weird that Upper Germania was a more southern province than Lower Germania. To this day, Upper Germany is in the south, Lower Germany in the north. The “up” and “low” donʼt refer to the compass but rather the altitude of the terrain. So the farther you go southwards in Germany, the higher the mountains get until you reach the Alps. Meanwhile in the north there are only a few hills.

Foreign worship was still alive and well among many Hellenistic Jews even before Jesus. And many the early Christians came from among Hellenistic Jews and the God-fearers [ie. Hellenistic Pagan Monolatrists who worshipped of God Most High.] Veneration of lesser "gods" and "lords" for legal reasons common as long they were not being asked to see these lesser beings as equal with their only God.

What amazes me about Protestants/Baptist/Lutheran and other Christian religions is, all of them started hundreds and even thousands of years after the time of Christ. Protestants always seem to want to ignore this to justify their religions. The Catholic Church is the only church that can date its time directly back to the time of Christ through the succession of popes, cardinals bishops and priests. If the protestant religions are the true religion of Christ, then for all of those hundreds and even thousands of years before they were established, who was leading Christians? Also, there are over 40,000 different Christian denominations in the world. How can 40,000 different denominations all be the word of God when none of them can agree with the other? They may agree on some ideas about Christianity, but some of the most important Christian teachings they do not. But they all claim to be speaking the word of God. Ridiculous. Satan hit a grand slam home run through Martin Luther and did incredible damage to the Catholic Church and Christianity. In Protestant religions, if you don’t like your church, you can go and start your own. Ridiculous! And clearly with over 40,000 different protestant religions, that is exactly what has happened 40,000+ times. Talk about watering down Christianity. One cannot go out and start their own Catholic Church. Martin Luther tried it, but he called it Protestantism. Most Protestants don’t realize why they are called protestants, it was because Martin Luther was “protesting “the Catholic Church. Protestantism can only date its time back to Martin Luther. What happened to the previous 500 years? Why do you think Jesus said “though art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church the gates of hell will not prevail against it? He said because the church he founded (the Catholic Church) was going to look like it had been beaten by satan. And yes Satan hates the Cathy Church most of all. Reformed satanist have confirmed that the Catholic Church is the true church. Why do satanists only want to steal the EUCHARISTIC from Catholic Churches and not any other religion. Satanist need the HOLY EUCHARISTIC for their Black Mass which represents a deliberate inversion and desecration of the Catholic Mass. satanist know the Catholic Church is the true Church of Christ but Protestants can’t figure it out. Using this man’s logic anyone can interpret the Bible any way that justifies their beliefs. Thus 40,000 different Christian religions. What makes this guy right and the other 40,000+ Protestant religions wrong?

P.S. you mentioned the white throne Judgement. The indictment comes from relative righteousness not Devine righteousness. Once a person believes in Jesus Christ, he immediately receives 1/2 the divine righteousness of God the Father and 1/2 divine righteousness of God the son. This is our pipeline to blessings from God. From your rebirth. However if you refused the GRACE gift . You stand convicted from your own relative righteousness that God can never except. Your works which are done in the flesh will become wood , hey and stubble. Fuel for the lake of fire. The Bible explains it as the unpardonable sin. Actually the only sin one is condemned for. Otherwise known as the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. So sad that Catholics never have a true sense of salvation. The sword of Damocles always hangs above their heads. Once more…Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

I feel that's it's pretty hypocritical from protestants when the subject of "evidence" pops up. Usually I hear prots saying things like "we've found the rock that Moses split" or "archeologists have found a place with big chunks of sulfur, proof of Sodom and Gomorrah!". I'm not saying that these discoveries are fake, tbh I haven't read a lot about these discoveries, but my problem is when you bring up discoveries from the first christians like the catacombs or writings from the saints. Protestants know that they can only believe in the discoveries that prove the Old Testament but they cannot believe in the discoveries about the early church because they're aware that if they believe in them or even read them they will find pure evidence of the early belief of the intercession of the saints, purgatory and the papacy. They do the same tactic that mormons do when there's evidence that contradict their own beliefs. They just turn a blind-eye. It's pretty sad tbh.

This phenomenon has happened in New England often. It is the temperature and soil conditions. When bodies of supposed "vampires" or tuberculosis victims were opened after 10 yrs and found to be totally incorrupt while bodies buried for a few years are totally decomposed. The families of these supposed vampires would then take out the heart and organs then burn it or, burn the whole body. This happened often. I am Catholic and was into learning about incorrupt saints when I was younger. However, hearing about bodies buried in the 1600's to 1700;s NOT embalmed, and buried in simple wooden coffins as the subject here, I have come to believe that it is simply the conditions and temperature of the soil. This happens often to Buddhist monks who prepare their bodies before death by consuming a diet that does not produce bacteria. In this way, their bellies do not explode. They meditate in the lotus position, without food, until they die. Buddhist monks consider them still in prayer and not dead. Interesting subject. I believe her life is a miracle and has proven to my satisfaction that she is a saint.

My own observations, which may not mount to hill of beans: Being that this inscription was kept rolled up as they were doing the imaging (via x-ray), the edges of the inscription would have soem overlap (causing a "layered" effect). You can look at the edges of the fragment and see that by it being rolled up, how it would create a "text over text" effect. Essentially, the x-ray would only be capturing (in one little frame) images from multiple layers (2 or 3 layers), creating the _illusion_ that the words "in the name" appearing as if they are at the beginning of the fragment. As a result, the phrase, "in the name" (as they appear at the beginning of the reconstructed text) may have been inadvertantly positioned by the reconstructionist. The words, "at the name of" appear at Phil. 2:10 ("AT THE NAME OF JESUS every knee should bow"). Since this devotion uses Phil. 2 for liturgical purposes (another fascinating fact), it is possible that these words belong somewhere else in the reconstructed text. They were probably placed into the resconstructed text only as a result of the paleontologist not being able to tell which layer of the text is on top of the other. That's the problem with rolled up scrolls. They are so old to unroll that any such attempts at reconstructing is difficult because the x-ray scans will only read through the layers, but may be difficult to really distinguish which layer the text is on. This may require further imaging to really tell, or other sets of eyes, or perhaps a combination of other methods. It could even be possible (due to these reasons above) that the text as it appears at the end of the reconstructed text may have actually read, "confess the name Jesus Christ," instead of the suggested "confess [to Jesus Christ]," which would be more consistent with Phil. 2. In Phil. 2 it says that everyone will "confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." I think it might be unlikely that the inscription begins with "In the name of St. Titus," and then immediately break out into a three-fold cry, "Holy, holy, holy!" Because right after that, it says: "In the name of Jesus Christ, Son of God!" and continues in devotion to Christ, reserving phrases, like the one we find at the beginning "in the name" specificually for devotion to Christ, as it does in Phil. 2.

The Roman cult of the dead involved a complex set of rituals and beliefs, including: Funerals: The funeral began at the moment of death and continued until the burial. Manes: The Romans believed that some people were transformed into the manes, special beings who watched over their families and could extend their lives. The manes were inclusive, including the poor and women. Parentalia: A yearly feast to celebrate the dead, where families would visit the tomb, pray, sing, and eat.

This is great and all, but most Protestants will simply shrug it off and say that the early Christians were just plain wrong and lost the plot almost immediately. Any Protestant who does serious research inevitably is forced to come to the conclusion that early Christians did not think as they do (unless they think all these writings were doctored by the Church), but most (at least in my experience) refuse to acknowledge the implications of what that truly means. I know they don't see it this way, but to me, it seems the absolute height of arrogance. To be an informed and studied Protestant means that you think pretty much everyone from the Apostles themselves or basically the very next generation up until the 1540s got it wrong, until the Reformation happened and SOME of the reformers finally got it right. That would sound absolutely nuts in any other context, yet they believe it. Even when confronted with the evidence, they can't bring themselves to break from their family traditions and a seemingly ingrained aversion to anything even remotely 'Roman Catholic'. It's truly a shame, because it keeps them from acknowledging the truth. Still, I'm not sure how I would react to my fundamental beliefs being wrong, so I can't really blame them, despite my frustration during theological debates with my friends.

Don’t you find it interesting that the assumption of Mary is announced in 1950 by one of the greatest antisemitic popes in history? I say this because God is very clear about protecting the Jewish race. To Abraham He says “ I will curse those that curse you and I will bless those that Bless you”. Pope Pius the XII sent 3000 Jews to Germany in 1945 under the demand from Hitler. Wow what a moral pinnacle of Christianity this pope was ! NOT!!! God is giving this pope revelation about Marys assumption? BTW , less than 1200 Jews returned from the camps where they were tortured and MURDERED. After the war, did the pope recognize Israel as a state ? Absolutely not. This should not come as a surprise anyone though. The popes of the past were many times worse than this one. Why not be Catholic you say ? There are about 225 plus reasons if you will look at Rome historically.

Joe, not sure about you including the so-called Jews who reject their only Savior, Jesus the Christ. They are sadly lost souls who will die in their sins unless, before they die, they are regrafted onto the vine by being Baptized & surrendering to Our Lord. Jesus and the Apostles are very clear & it’s an infallible teaching of the Church for 2k years. Only your embrace & obedience to Christ can anyone be saved. Jesus is clear that those who reject Him & call themselves Jews,” but they are not” they are of their father the devil. Those who call themselves jews, but are not , who reject Him are of the synagogue of Satan. St. Paul tells us that the Jews who reject Jesus are the “ hostis hummani generis “, (the enemies of all mankind). And they have been as anyone who studies the History of the Church, the thousands of letters from Bishops and Popes on the non-stop Jewish attacks on Christians from the Book of Acts to their revolt in 115AD that murdered many Catholics, to their fake-messiah war from 131-135AD where they murdered thousands of Catholics bc we wouldn’t join them in war behind their gross blasphemy bar Kohkba. To 612ad murders and many , many others against the faith, disregarding Christian morals & ethics and constantly blasphemy Our Lord & Our Lady, the constant financial shenanigans cheating Christian’s to steal property, using counterfeit money, coin clipping to debase currency, immorality with dancing girls & loud music during Holy Mass & when the Church would process through the streets on our Holy Days, prostitution & pornography, lead the push & lawsuits for Abortion, contraception, homosexual so-called marriage, pushing transsexual insanity, Led the Marxist feminist movement to destroy the nuclear family( Emma Goldman, Bella Abzug , Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, et al.) and easy no-fault divorce, getting rid of prayer in school, invasion of 3rd world migrants totally unsuited for our safety & culture we have every right to guard & protect as the Israelis claim is the reason they don’t take Mass immigrants from Africa, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lybia, etc even though US has followed Netanyahu’s plan for the Middle East for 25 yrs, which has been a colossal disaster for US and a great benefit only to Israel, as Netanyahu has chuckled & admitted to his followers. It is the Church who is the new Israel it is the Church who is the true Zion, it is the devout followers of Jesus Christ who are the real Jews…All of them can be grafted in by faith in Christ, that’s it! Why are so many Christians so weak in speaking the Truth, it’s sickening seeing the Tap Dancing among those charged with being warriors for Christ. One last thing, tho there are so many other facts concerning this. You do know that the so-called Jews who reject Christ have absolutely no, ZERO Devine claims to the land in Palestine? This is 100% clear in the Bible and the Church has always taught that and before modern times, most Jewish scholars recognized that,… Recall Deut. 9:5-6 & Gen. 15:18-21, when God gave an irrevocable promise to Abe he would give his descendants the land of Canaan. It took God many hundreds of years to finally fulfill that promise and as Joshua states that God fulfilled that promise completely, to the letter. Josh 21:43-45. But recall our Lord said explicitly that the people did not deserve this gift bc they acted so wickedly He considered wiping them out a couple of times, But God said He would fulfill His promise bc of His love for Abe…. And God went on to say that if the Israelites went back to their wicked ways He would vomit them out of the land like He did the Canaanite’s. Read Joshua, 1Kings 8:56, Nehemiah 9:7-8 and it’s also mentioned in Isiah, Zachariah, Ezechiel & others. They did , repeatedly, continue in wickedness & lost the land for good. Read Jesus parables of the Husbandmen and the parable of the Vine Dresser…. It perfectly describes God giving the so-called Jews a last chance with Jesus. In parable they finally kill even the Son and they are banished. Just like the Jews murdered all the prophets He sent them, He finally sent His Son. They can still be saved, but only through their embrace of Jesus and be Baptized. But no Christian can support Zionism, it is a total blasphemy and a mocking of Our Lord. It’s absurd to support a State where the one thing all so-called Jews hold in common is a visceral hatred of Jesus Christ and if you don’t know history, even recent history, Jews hate Christian’s far more than Muslims and have as their goal to get rid of Christians the same way they got rid of Palestinians. Make their lives so intolerable, so oppressive & brutal that they will strike back and then attack & kill them in great numbers and say, “ we have a right to defend ourselves.”

IMO… knowing something academically is different from feeling it when you experience it firsthand. Every parent tells their toddler not to touch the stove because it might be hot. The toddler knows what hot is because they’ve felt warm water or a hot slide on a sunny day. They “know” the stove is hot. But the first time they reach up and burn their chubby little hand, they KNOW the stove is hot. Being a mom is exhausting, especially when you have a newborn. You’re tired. You’re touched out. You change diapers and nurse them all day and all night. You’re cooking and cleaning and doing all the things that need doing. No matter how much you love your kids, motherhood does tend to be pretty mundane and repetitive sometimes. And just imagine she’s going through her day and little Jesus does something that reminds her, like a slap in the face, that her little baby is GOD. 🤯 It isn’t that she didn’t know. But firsthand experience is so much more powerful than knowledge. I’d heard this song so many times through my life and thought it was stupid… until it came on Spotify when my first son was 3 months old. It had been a hard day. He had gas and was miserable. I’d nursed and burped and nursed and burped him all day, tons of times. I was exhausted. And this song came on and it just hit me so differently. I imagined Mary in my shoes, trying to do her best, exhausted, and then having a sweet moment with him and remembering, “Oh yeah, he’s GOD.” 😳
