She’s very histrionic which to me is similar to psychopathy where a person wants to be the star of the show or they are a victim and they are very theatrical and love themselves and very shallow.

Funny how she thinks having empathy is socialization and she’s immune to it.

Must be nice to have a psychopathic personality, no cares equals no anxiety. I am very empathetic, empathic. That alone has caused me a lot of anxiety and stress. Always wanting to help others or giving too much of myself. This was interesting. He seems like a nice man. I cut a friend out of my life, He most definitely had a psychopathic personality. But he was malicious in his actions/behaviours. Still is according to others who can tolerate him.

The thing you did to that poor possum is torturing an animal. I love also how you're trying to justify your stealing your neighbor's bike. It doesn't matter how long it had been since they had used it, or how comparatively cheap it was. You took something that was not yours to take and felt zero regret about it. Even understanding that there's a medical reason for that lack of remorse, it is still highly disturbing. I would not want you as a friend or neighbor, but I do appreciate your opening up.

At the beginning of her book the opossum story also comes up but it sounds like she killed it by holding it underwater with a net. But she doesn't state it explicitly and uses the third person as if someone else had done it. So at a semiconscious level she seems to be aware there might be some issues and despite wanting to appear honest (to herself and others) she tries do find some middle ground not outright lying but also not confessing everything

Don’t think psychopaths would actually “seek help”

If psychopaths don’t feel emotions, why do they “feel” those killing urges. Isn’t it an emotion in itself?

It happened to me with my 2 kids. I am from a family of narcissists. I also married one whose family were also narcissists. I was young and naive. My biggest fear was my kids would turn out like them so they had little contact with family. I divorced their dad when they were 12 and 14. It started for them in their teens. It is nothing more than dissociation. The problem isn't the Mom. It is the Psychiatrists who leave God out of everything. Dissociation is when the soul becomes partly detached from the brain. It is a mental illness. All mental illnesses involve dissociation of some type.

Something confusing in the ending where she says she owns things in reference to being smarter than others and then list off some physical traits. She lists that she is 5'4" but generalizes the weight and the clothing sizes. Two possible reasons, I see: 1. She is socialized to understand that talking about weight specifics and clothing size is potentially harmful. This is further confusing as she claims to be immune to socialization in general as well. 2. She mischaracterized her general immunity to socialization. 3. I guess it could have been filmed more than once with someone guiding her. It is possible that the people making the video set the standards of engagement.

Im so sorry you had to face this What’s worse is that most children can’t get diagnosed until later in their teen years if not adulthood and while it may be gracious for judges to give kids more chances than fully grown adults considering they’re just kids, they don’t get sent to those assessment and care places they need that can only be accessed by courts saying so. I’m also pretty sure (though I haven’t had a ton of understand with researching the dark triad) that psychopathy tends to have more to do with deficits in the brain rather than being heavily impacted by trauma such as with aspd or sociopathy (someone plz correct me if I’m wrong)

She speaks as if she believes she is the smartest person in the room. That’s what all psychos think. That’s what makes them dangerous. This is the stuff she’s admitting to, I bet there’s other things she’s not sharing. Most psychopaths are violent, and sadist, and have no attachment to anyone.
@TrishApps7 күн бұрын
I think that's great she studied law, she can know without a doubt what is considered "right or wrong", what is permissable or only weakly punished, and what actions would give credit. Then, it's really on the legal system of her country if she does something that is allowable but unpalatable. Wouldn't help much with socialising though, unspoken rules abound, and examples of people getting away with bad behaviour would make learning the rules tricky. So interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I hope I chose the right episode. The narrator mentioned having a weak sense of self that seemed to evaporate when she was by herself. That reminded me of an episode of the movie Girl Interrupted when the character played by Angelino Jolie "asked" to be "diagnosed" or in more street parlance "READ" by the character play by Winona Ryder. She was told something like - It's been years since I've seen that old movie, I'm trying to recall -" You're dead inside and your heart is cold". No matter how many attempts she made to escape that home, she always found her way back because she had no sense of identity, and that home was the only place she could feel alive. Upon hearing what she asked for, Angelina's character had a meltdown when she had to face the truth.
