That was too funny! But David didn't do the story justice and we should note that Wordpress has the GPL license which is legally binding and requires companies to give back. Secondly, most founders of large open source projects have a for profit arm that funds the development and keeps the project alive - that is not new.

1:10:05 I have the Stiletto TiBone 15 and after swinging it, I do in fact know what being God feels like. Most hammers are made of steel and lose about 30% of their power when you hit the nail (which goes through your arm). Titanium only loses about 3% of their power which means my 15oz titanium hammer swings with the power of a 22oz steel hammer and is obviously significantly lighter which helps with arm fatigue. After picking it up for the first time I was like “no way this works” and after hitting my first nail, I am now God

As someone who spent the last year working on The Wild Robot, I'm mildly disappointed with David's take on it. Summing it down to that it's bad for me because it's a kids movie when at it's heart it's focused on the struggles of raising a child and letting them go into the world, it's unfortunate to hear his view just stayed on "but it's for kids". I'm not saying he has to like it, that's fine. I just expected David, as being someone who is behind the lens compositing shots all the time that I'm surprised he saw it from such a narrow perspective. My response doesn't take everything he said into consideration fairly, but its a personal bummer to me as I thought the final project was beautiful for all ages. But art is subjective and in the eye of the viewer.

Based on many of the comments I've seen defending how actually the movie was deeply meaningful and layered for accessibility to such a broad audience, I absolutely plan on seeing it in theater with my young children soon. And like... We never go to the theater. So somewhat ironically, his narrow take has led to lots of lovely insights from commenters that (I hope) more accurately represent the film's reception.

I was also thinking "Did we watch the same film?" He said it was a cheerful, happy movie where all the animals work together with no "gripping story". I thought it was a really good movie with multiple themes. And death was pretty predominant throughout the film, both in lighthearted and dark moments. Also he was wrong about it being orchestral the entire movie since during the montage there was a pop song playing, which still fit the themes of the film. I trust him for tech reviews, but never let him cook for movie reviews.

As the most tech-knowledgeable of the three, David is frustrating is listen to about nuanced issues. He seems to say a lot but glosses over nuances that would make his information more valuable. David, WP in WP Engine does stand for WordPress, although that would be the insinuation. It would be very bad for them to call themselves 'WordPress Engine' in full and WP Engine in short. That would get them sued for trademark infringement.

I really appreciate the format of this show. Often feels like an interactive critical thinking training tool. Great stuff, and thanks for all of the hard work!

I like the tangents about premium products. I find it very interesting to hear about a category I have absolutely no interest in, but that the product has thought of every case and been so well designed Or built to last.

53:06 the glasses aren’t the issue. The program is. You can do the same thing on your phone. Walk around recording. It’s the program that does facial recognition which is the issue. How easy is THAT to get ahold of?

Will there be a blind smartphone test this year? If yes, will it be possible to rate the photos on PC (a larger screen)? 😊

Also, The Wild Robot is an awesome movie. Sorry David, it sounds like you didn’t get to enjoy it.

Throughout the whole AR section I've been thinking "the 3ds did it a WHILE ago" - I'm so glad it got brought up Feels like it's never given enough credit sometimes

I'm in the middle of listening to the podcast on PocketCasts and I had to come to the video version just to comment about The Wild Robot. I've never heard anything more wrong in my life. It is the greatest kids/family movie I've ever seen. I think that's because it's a movie made for parents to watch with their child. I took my family to see it two separate times!

Honestly it's more closely resembled to the original razor phone then the essential PH1, but also great episode guys 😊

It's pretty funny how both the WAN show and WVFRM picked up the topic of the live facial recognition glasses and had basically the exact same take.

If camera control BUT-TON could be mapped to ONE function that I could immediately adjust with a swipe (like exposure), I think it would be WAY more useful. Right now, using it seems like the same number of taps/swipes required to change the setting I want, and maybe even more difficult since if you use the screen, you can just tap the setting instead of swiping to it.

Love those god version of stuff talk! Especially for kitchens, i'm trying to buy Laguiole en Aubrac Knives, Gabriel Glass wine glasses and i'm even trying to make my own design of measuring spoons and cups since I can't find a design I find perfect

Love Camera Control. Now I don't need to have a lock screen shortcut, a Home Screen app or a control center control, and can put other things in those places.
