Does this work with spelt flower
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen 5 ай бұрын
Hi, nodoubt! Thanks so much for watching. You know, I can't guess if it would or not. This is a ground bean, and spelt is a ground grain. I am thinking that if you mixed a grain this way -- sort of more watery than a dough, right, so you're not kneading it and it has no leavening -- that you would get something like (depending upon how thin it flowed into your pan) a chewy pasta-type thing or a hard cracker. So if I wanted to use spelt, I'd do a regular tortilla. I have a recipe for tortillas on the channel, so you could scope that out, if you'd like. Thanks again - and sorry for the late reply!!!!! Praise God through Christ Jesus for easy ways like this to communicate with one another. ❤✝❤

Could I use sprouted lentils with this recipe? Adapt somehow.
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen 8 ай бұрын
Hi, Jim! Thanks so much for watching! I haven't tried it, but I'm guessing so. I think it will work because sprouted lentils are soaked, and are sort of halfway between a lentil and a vegetable, right? Well, I've blended vegetables (red peppers, kale, and others) with my soaked lentils to make this recipe, and it worked just fine, so I'm guessing your ready-made mix of lentils and vegetables should work just the same. The cooking time may vary, you might have to fuss with it a bit -- I usually do when I mix stuff in -- but it always comes out wonderfully! Praise God through Christ Jesus for the wonderful lentil and for giving us such an easy way to share with one another! ❤✝ ❤

You haven't mastered the various cooking times? How about you master it first, then make the video? In my opinion, this was a disaster, with one side crisp and visibly burnt, while the other side is soft. Maybe you should increase the quantity of lentils and water, put it in a quality sheet pan, invest in a new sheet of parchment paper, and cook it in the oven, rather than a toaster oven.

@LivingLambsVeganKitchen

Hi, Thomas! There are a lot of vegans that are oil free. Many of the vegan doctors consider oils to be unhealthy and say they muck up the endothelial lining of our veins and make them sticky. Others don't eat oils because they are very calorie dense without having any volume. I hope that is helpful! Praise God through Christ Jesus for easy ways like this to share information!!! ❤✝❤

Hi! Hello all the way from Italy :) several weeks ago i've found your video here, first of my search how to cook oat groats in the i.pot (i have a stove pressure cooker but i've experienced now, it works in pretty much same way) I was bit cautious first and wasnt easy to source oat groats in my area but now been a good month and i started and stuck with your method and... IT'S AWESOME! Helps me lower the glycemia peak (compared to rolled oats porridge) and i especially appreciate your suggestions to soak overnight and then, once cooked, let it rest for another while. (I soak it over a day and cook it overnight so next morning (pot still warm!) i'm ready to start eating one and packing the rest :) ) So, just THANKS 😇 and yes i would have one further question (i'm jotting this down here before i forget but yes, when i have some relaxed time i'll check if you already uploaded something such...)... have you tried cooking groats of barley, rye, and ok, wheat, and rice, in a similar way? (the main "5 cereals", which i eat most often...) If so, would you suggest variations for each cereal, ex. soaking times before and after cooking, etc.? I wonder, because the other ones apparently contain gluten and for example wheat pasta, the common saying is not to overdo it or it will be overglutenous. And yes, all my quest for healthier cereals came from seeing too many friends going gluten intollerant one by one, day by day... Thanks! Respect. Keep the great work! (And well, yes, sorry for my rusty English which took an all too long comment to unfold my little questions :) )
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen Жыл бұрын
Hi, Dorian! Thanks so much for watching! Italy! How wonderful! As an FYI -- you know how things change as time pass -- I now bypass the overnight soak and cook them for 30 minutes (on the instant pot, simply hit Manual 2 times), let them do natural release, dish them up, and then let them sit in the bowl for 20 minutes or so. (But obviously the original way works just fine, too.) You can pretty much cook all of the whole grain cereals this way. The whole grains don't really do any sort of gluten thing. I like to cook (for a single serving) 1/2 c. oat groats with 1/4 c red lentils in 3 c. water - it is so delicious! It is now my "go to" breakfast. Let me know if you have any other questions, and God blesss you!!!! ❤✝❤

Just wow! That's truly a gamechanger now... thanks to you by the way, my grains diet is evolving quickly then :) i must say the soaking of foods kinda prevents me a bit from preparing them. YES i love red lentils, so yummy and here you find mainly big greens ones - tastes, but i'm glad i found them randomly. And yes, lentils don't need the soaking... I really like this idea and can't wait. And if it's you who've said it, then i trust they get nice 'gravy' too :))) ! Matter of fact, i've tried (succefully for my own reasonable rough standards...) to do same with the bigger legumes, *but* i've then read that their soaking (and rinsing first, then changing water a couple times) is supposed to ge them rid of anti-nutrients, phitates saponines etc. Just like removing the first boiling foam (which unfortunately in my pressure pot aint easy... keeping it sealed while cooking...) So yeah i love beans and chickpeas too as main protein source (with wholegrain pasta... :))) ) but will still duly soak them. That was just a FYI too from me, in case by any chance it is of interest to you. Great to have your recommendations, they do change a good time for the main meal of the day, and the one that helps us wake back from the sleeping otheroworld heheh!! Thanks!! Ps. Kind about Italy, but i'm so jeally of American (landscapes, open range, nature) better skip that :))) take care!!
@dorianblue4229
@dorianblue4229 Жыл бұрын
(PS. Forgive me, but maybe it's better to add this right now already... on a second thought while i was writing above... at first i thought adding lentils to morning might be a good evening alternative dinner, because ok i don't add maple or honey to it, too sweet, but some chopped well-ripe fruit yes.) BUT, i would mention to you that i do stick to your dosages (same as mine before spotting your videos), but i have found my oats slightly less satiating me over time. Rolled oats i find bit more stuffing/satiating (but i prefer groats for the lower glycemia effect...), but i'm afraid i'll need to eat further food before the good few hours that it satiated me through, back in the days. Perhaps adding lentils would be s good way to solve this... but still worth mentioning to you. :))))

@@dorianblue4229 Hi, again! Thank you for all that! Yes, the gravy will form once they are dished up and allowed to cool down. I hope you enjoy the lentlis and oats together! Dear @@LivingLambsVeganKitchen hello there again! I'm back here to (aside from wishing you a heart-warming start of the new year, bless!), ask you a couple further insider tips. When you mention red lentils for your porridge, do you mean the carrot-red ones, that easily melt when cooked (just like a porridge themselves) and get some light yellow color? Exactly those of the Indian "dahl" recipe... Asking because, i've just found out about these, they're yummy!, so far here in italy i only knew about some brown-greenish ones (vs pea-green bigger ones), they label them "red lentils". They're a bit yummy too already, but less than the Indian red ones. They do retain the lentil bean texture though. I'll find it interesting to hear your reply, if yours is all a creamy porridge.

Generally, for bread, higher is better, but it is so flexible, you can do almost anything. You can also preheat to, like, 425, and then when you put the bread in, lower it to even 350, and that gives it that immediate "oomph" and then it cooks in the residual heat as it cools down to 350. Praise God through Christ Jesus for such an un-finicky staple!!! ❤✝❤
