This looks warm & comforting. I never thought to combine lentils & oats together like that. I’ll have to look up your savory version, cause I’m thinking dark leafy greens, diced tomatoes, onions, & mushrooms would be great in this too. I appreciate your comments to remember to thank our Heavenly Father for all things. 🙏🕊✝️

It would be awesome -- all of that in there! You know, as I think about it, I think my savory version was just oats and no lentils, though. Woops. Aargh. Thank you so much for watching, and if you try it "regular" or gussy it up, please let me know how you like it!! God bless you, Butterfly! ❤✝❤

Yessss please …. The savory version recipe 💛
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen2 жыл бұрын
@@gaymarquez8000 You know, I thought I had one posted, but it turns out it's just with oats, but here's what you'd do: Put in the water, add a handful of chopped onions and chopped mushrooms (and, if it's handy, chopped celery), and a couple of cups of greens. Add about 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 teaspoon of dried basil and/or oregano. Cook it all as described. When it's done, before you dish it up, stir in some mustard powder (about 1/4 teaspoon) and some vinegar (about 1 teaspoon). It will be fantastic. You can also substitute part or all of the water (in the regular or savory version) with low sodium V8. I should have mentioned that in my video, because I do do it that way sometimes, but I forgot..... Let me know if you have any questions!!!! ❤✝❤

Thank you for sharing this wonderful oatmeal idea. I think I will cook the lentil separately and pulverize them so that my husband doesn't know they are in the oats. He often rejects things that he knows the ingredients but if the food is flavorful he doesn't care. I always add diced apples, raisins and apple pie spices to our oats and he loves that combo. So, now I'll also add lentils that will take the breakfast to the next level. Thank you for sharing this and God Bless.
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jojo! Thank you so much for watching! I will bet you that your husband will not know that lentils are in this recipe if you make it all together. You can try it for yourself once, if you care to, and then decide for your husband. But you know best! Either way, I hope you both love it! It is very kind of you to cook things in such a way that he will enjoy them while still lovingly working in the things that are so good for him! God bless you both! ♥️✝️♥️

Do you flavor this with anything before eating?
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Watchwoman, my Sister in Christ!!!! Thank you so much for watching! Actually, I don't! It is so fantastic as is!! That said, you can certain season it. One thing you can do is substitute part or all of the water with V8. Use extra, though, like 1/2 c. per recipe if you sub all. You can also make it savory by adding a handful of chopped onions and mushrooms (and, if you have it handy, chopped celery) to the water, a couple of cups of fresh or frozen greens, 1/4 t. garlic powder (or to taste), 1/2 t. dried basil and oregano, then finish cooking it as directed. Before you dish it up, add 1/4 t. mustard powder and about 1 t. balsamic vinegar. But normally, I love it plain. It's remarkably good that way!!! Let me know if you have any questions, and God bless you! ❤✝❤

Not sure what thicker version of oat is I think maybe old fashioned oat or is it steel cut oats please clarify
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Shirley! Thank you so much for watching! I am sorry that I was unclear. The thicker oats are rolled oats, but the thicker variety. So, for example, not instant oats, and not quick oats, but the rolled oats that are thicker than those. I use the Bob's Red Mill extra thick rolled oats. I hope that is helpful! Thank you again, and please let me know if you have any more questions. Praise God through Christ Jesus for easy ways like this to share with one another! ♥️✝️♥️

I see that you finally bought a silicone spatula, however, I'm sorry to say, you bought the wrong one. That one is hard/stiff. I said the dollar store has the ones that are very soft/pliable. The soft spatulas remove every bit of food from the bowl/pot, whatever container the food is in. They leave the bowl so clean, you'd never know food was even in it. Oh well. Maybe next time you see a dollar store, you'll remember to go in to check them out. That's when you'll have a light bulb moment and see what I am talking about. Remember, the silicone is very soft/pliable. Thank You for the recipe.
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Newbie! This one was on the discount rack at my grocery store, so that's how I picked it out - it was the only one! It's much softer than what I had, but maybe not as soft as what you're talking about! I wish there were a dollar store near me, but there's not. That said, if I find one in my path one day, I'll definitely make a point of checking out the spatulas!! Thanks so much for watching and for the spatula tips!! 25 mins? I reckon 5 mins would do it! When I cook oats alone I cook them for zero mins.
@LivingLambsVeganKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Paul! Thanks so much for watching!It is possible that 25 minutes is overkill. Other said the same thing, so I tried them for less time. I found that in 8 minutes the lentils were still a bit rawish. Not raj, but to some. Same thing obviously with 5 minutes. But 10 minutes worked okay. I am kind of stuck on 25, but like I said, that is probably more than necessary. Praise God through Christ Jesus for the wonderful and flexible foods He gives us from His marvelous bounty! ❤️✝️❤️
