Thank you for sharing this content and allowing us to learn about your relationship and your wife's culture. Your lady is a true gem, and you can tell she comes from a great family. All of you should be very proud of what you have overcome and built. I, too, have a wonderful wife. We need to keep our ladies happy as they truly deserve it. Thanks again!

Correct me if I am wrong but even if you pay tax overseas and live in Thailand then you are causing a transfer of wealth to Thailand so it ultimately benefits the country? At an individual level it's insignificant but at scale, would it not increase the GDP of Thailand?

@thenakedguru great vlogs Ryan. Stick to your guns, keep with your style. I understand that when negative comments are nasty, hurtful or ongoing can get to us, but just ignore them. They're usually unhappy people who don't know how to be happy and dragging others down seems to give them a warped sense of internal achievement, which is really sad. People saying negative things about Damo... they themselves are the saddest people in earth. Having watched a few dozen of your vlogs now, Damo comes across as a most beautiful soul, a woman who I'd be very happy to call a friend. Same for you Ryan, well balanced, kind and loving who I'd call a friend.

I've never been to Thailand, but I like watching travel videos from time to time. I can't believe the topic in a video is a thing. In America, you go on a Tinder date, what do you do if the girl starts asking you to buy her stuff? You tell her no. It's that simple. I mean do people really think if they go to another country all those life skills go out the window, or do they just buy into the whole only Western girls are spoiled feminists stereotype?

Just to counter the point you made about my post. I have lived here for three years so not a two week tourist. What i meant was indirectly pimping their daughters out. There is so much pressure on the daughters of the family to provide for the parents and relatives, sometimes the girls have no choice and forced into that line of work through the financial pressure and expectations the girls have pushed onto them. And that pressure is common throughout Thailand.

Funny how western men think they are so valuable in Thailand. But strangely being Thai and European and Australian I know so many successful woman in Thailand that truly don’t care about your western citizenship and potentially average job back home. These men think they super valuable in Thailand because they target woman with so much less than they have and wouldn’t stand a chance with a highly successful Thai woman in Thailand or their home country. Western men have built up this fantasy idea of their status in Thailand and a fictional idea of how they think Thai woman are solely based on the woman they target for relationships.

Again, you are better than the rest of us... damn. You say in your experience villagers don't send their daughters for sex work. You assume you'd know. Maybe the parents are embarrassed, so they keep it from everyone. Poverty drives people to do things that us 1% can't understand or wouldn't approve of. Even if such parents would be "bad people", why are there no bad people among the poor in Thailand? You use a lot of words to mostly say nothing and occasionally stupid things.

Yes, I was a walking ATM to my Thai wife. It lasted about 6 years and I got tired of always being broke. It was very bad when I put a stop to it and I ended up walking away from her. The marriage was never registered, so there was no divorce involved and I just walked away free. I will never go through that again.

I found your channel a few days ago! Or did it find me? 🤔 Anyway, I’ve been to Thailand many times, originally as a backpacker doing the various islands. I didn’t really like Phuket and Pattaya although I did visit. It’s just not my scene. Thailand is a bit of an enigma. I have described it to people like a Russian doll. You think you’ve got it figured out then bang, you start uncovering a different layer. I live in the UK and we understand almost everything on a daily basis. Our values come from 2000 years of Christianity. Thailand has only really started to be explored in the past 100 years by westerners. Thailand has 2500 years of Buddhism shaping their beliefs ,culture, morality that westerners just can’t comprehend. I described to my family when I first visited Thailand, it’s like being captured by aliens and landing on an alien planet. They don’t think the same as westerners, their culture is completely different but if you get outside of that bar/club Pattaya/phuket/sukhumvit soi 4 lifestyle(which, by the way is alien to real Thais) you get to experience a wonderful, exotic, fun filled, easy going country!

I just returned to the UK from Bali...can't wait to go back, life in the UK is terrible for the average 9 to 5iver like myself, thwre is literally no hope of getting on the property ladder even on my 35k a year salary, and most people I know don't even have jobs which pay 25k a year after tax...so how is anyone supposed to afford anything here unless we all become substance dealers or onlyfans stars?

I am currently in Thailand right now, for second time this year!… it’s so true about the Thai way of life you described… I’ve come back to see a Thai girl I became friendly with. She is from a village outside of khon kaen… and I have already become the atm ha ha.. they’re certainly not shy in coming forward! 😂 But weirdly i just find it very amusing! It’s just a bit of harmless scrounging I think, there is no malice in it.. 🤷🏻‍♂️.. (obviously it would be different if I wasn’t on holiday) The thing is, in my opinion.. I don’t think they see the world like the way we do in the uk.. in the uk money is everything to everybody… people rip each other off left right and centre and you have to be so careful, so everyone is so wary of one another.. but because in Thailand, especially in the rural areas the people all pretty much have the same level wealth! So There is no competing with each other like in the uk.. I personally think this is the reason Thai people come across as greedy.. it’s not that, it’s just they think people from the uk are loaded… it might seem normal for us to spend 50-100 a day on holiday, but honestly over here that is a hell of a lot of money to them… so I’m happy to give a little whilst I’m on holiday here.. and it’s so so nice to be sat round the table listening to them all yapping away telling stories and laughing with each other… something that the uk lost a long time ago! Like remember on New Year’s Eve we all used to pop in the neighbours house for a drink or two… (just doesn’t happen anymore) Thailands just a great place in my opinion. I love it! and I also love the fact that rules aren’t taken too seriously! 🪖🪖🪖🪖 🇹🇭

So you're a Bolton... wanderer... ;) Maybe the grass is always greener elsewhere, but the sun is surely shinier in Thailand than in UK... Funny that many poor towns in UK voted for Brexit and now lost on the growth that could have been with European Immigration, while now East Europe is growing. Thailand is also a developing country so logically it feels like things are improving there, while UK is the opposite.

My Thai wife and I refuse to be the family ATM. Not only that, I said many times to my wife that she has to realize that her parents are not young anymore and their pension is depending on their children. She should talk to her sisters and brother about this and then make clear what everybody can give to the parents. The problem is that she is the youngest and because of that whatever she says is not accepted. She's 50! So the never ending story continues... but still I'm not a walking ATM.

Not sure going to the Philippines is such a smart idea. The PRC look like they're planning a war. Talking of war, you forgot one other reason for people to come to SE Asia, to avoid military conscription. There are plenty of Russian draft dodgers in Pattaya and Phuket already. As other countries bring in conscription, expect young men to come to SE Asia.

If you arrive in the village with your newly minted bar babe who is taking you home to meet the family and you start acting as "The Big I Am", it's only a matter of time before you become "The Big ATM" Next thing you know is a brand new Toyota vigo is expected and then you're off. Thousands know the story. If you have a good woman, and some of them do come from the bar scene, but country life in the village is different from Condo life in Bangkok or Pattaya. Caveat Emptor.

I have been to Thailand many times and have had a few relationships! Thailand has good people but it also has bad people! I know this through experiencing both. Just a short story…….I was with a girl from a village about 10miles outside Udon. She had never worked in the bar industry(yes, I know what you’re thinking but she had her own small business in the village.I met her when I broke down on a motorbike passing through her village on a day trip). We started a relationship together and I managed to go back every 6 months for a month at a time. One girl in the village who did work in the bar had a number of farang boyfriends during this time. She was also ‘very friendly’ with the local police. She came back from Pattaya with a ‘new’ farang who bought her land, built a house with a swimming pool just after knowing each other for a few months. He was a healthy guy about early 50’s. About 6 months after the house was built he was found dead in the swimming pool in what I would describe as suspicious circumstances! The ‘friendly’ local police said it was a heart attack. The girl I was with told me the policeman was ‘old boyfriend’. She used to enjoy taking me around the area showing me houses that farang had built for Thai women. There were many boarded up and in dispute over ownership! …………..Buyer beware!

You nailed it Ryan f@=k the haters, I've coped a lot of flack from people that I thought were my friends because I married a Thai woman and bought land that "isn't in my name" and built a house. Well now they're really pissed because we've pulled the trigger on the whole move from Australia to Thailand.
