Is it possible to park a motorhome in a "normal" parking lot in the cities while I shop? or are there some regulations about Motorhome parking?

Hi, I loved your video. I am going to Switzerlandin in September by motorhome, I would like to confirm the of cities you ‘ve been on this video, if I am not wrong it was Lauterbrunnen and Berg. Is that right?? In which camper ground you parked the RV to take the Cable car to go up? Cheers😊

Glad you enjoyed the videos. Switzerland is amazing. So yeah Lauterbrunnen staying at Camping Jungfrau and Zug which was at a campsite that is now closed. The cable car was Lauterbrunnen. There are two cable cars that get you to Murren, a cog railway up to Wengen and normal train to Interlaken all of which I recommend.

this is a great pull out bed design! We are in the middle of our L3 camper build and have some detailled questions about the design. I hope you still read these reactions and might want to answer our questions. The aluminum carriers seem strong and thin, where did you buy them? The part that slides out must be smaller than the fixed part as the moving carrier been hits the fixed part on the inside of the fixed bed. Still in the van tour video it seems that you have two equal size mattresses. What is the size of the fixed bed and of the part that you extend the bed with? Are the madrases both a bit smaller than the size of the fixed part? Thanks and enjoy your beautifull camper van!

Glad you found the video helpful. The aluminium extrusion is from RS Components. Each half is basically the same size as the aluminium sits right next to each other when closed. I did build an extension piece at the back that goes into the doorway to give more width. The mattress isn’t equal. The one nearest the back is a bit wider (maybe 10cm) including the additional bit I mentioned. When they stack the front one that goes on top sits a bit back vs the back one that stays put, if that makes sense. The challenge is with the cutouts as that restricts how wide each part can be.

Loving your videos, very well made and clear explanations. Think i have no watched nearly all of your conversion vids. Quick question, how have you found the 25mm PIR insulation underfoot and do you feel it was worth adding the 6mm dodomatt liner also. I was thinking of going thicker with insulation but i also really don't want to loose too much height (am 6'2).
@OurVanPlan

Thanks for the message, glad you’re finding them helpful. The floor insulation is fine. Hard to tell if the dodo liner added much but I’d probably use it again. Floor is always warm though.

Great video, was the 5-6 degree cut on the uprights necessary to get a straight (upright) wall? Looking to do mine soon and want to avoid the top of the cutout sticking out further than the bottom.
@OurVanPlan
@OurVanPlan 19 күн бұрын
Yeah because the van wall curves in only slightly and we wanted level top/bottom of the cutouts and then the sides flat to the rest of the ply. Bit of a pain but worth doing.

Brilliant video and easy to follow. I do have a question, I'm looking to do a similar design but I was thinking about having the bed so I could slide it both ways. So the "Day Mode" could also be in the further forward position allowing a larger garage space if needed. I can't seem to find videos of anyone doing this, wondered if there was a reason you decided not to? Thanks!
@OurVanPlan
@OurVanPlan Ай бұрын
Thanks glad you found it helpful. I’m not sure how what you’re describing would work because at night you’d need to slide the bed back so you couldn’t use the additional garage space. That’s if I’ve understood it right!
@chips118
@chips118 Ай бұрын
@@OurVanPlan Sorry not sure i was clear. I think I actually sort of figured out the answer realising that obviously for you guys when you travel, you would always have it as a double so that's what you mean by having it back at night. However the difference is I'll be solo travelling mostly and if I had both slat sections as slideable, I could position it as a single further forward if I needed a bigger/taller garage space.

Hi, just watched all your build and I'm absolutely in love with the van. I have a couple of questions as I'm thinking of something similar. Do you think the conversion you did would fit in the shorter version at all? The reason I would prefer the short wheelbase is that I'm thinking of living in it full time for a while, so it would be my everyday vehicle. I really want to fit in most normal-sized spaces. Does your van fit in most spaces? Another question, do you think what you did would be possible to have done without a driveway? I live in a block of flats and don't have anywhere to potentially park and do it. Any tips would be absolutely appreciated. Sending good vibes :)
@OurVanPlan

Thanks for the lovely comment. Glad our build has inspired you. Yeah our van fits in most spaces eg supermarket. Bit of an overhang but never has a problem. It’s 5.4m long and is an L2. Most conversations are the L3 which is 6m long. Not sure they do the L1 with a high roof though? I think it would have been really difficult to do it without a driveway and garage. I know people have done it in your situation but the sheer amount of stuff needed, tools, the ability to cut huge sheets somewhere outside that’s flat next to the van. I think it’d be a challenge. Maybe there’s somewhere you could rent some space to do it or something like that? Also depends on the build you want to do as I’m sure it can be done in a simpler way than we did. Good luck with it though, it’s a great experience.

Looking to do the same with a LWB sprinter. Will have 2 roof vents and will use the gaps for individually addressable LED strips. Definitely looking to reduce weight where possible so would opt for 12mm. Would a thinner version of the ply work better? Are there any plastic alternatives that would help reduce weight further? I think the black background and wooden slats looks so slick! Looks way easier to construct upside down away from the van and then put the finished piece in rather than trying to get the slats mounted one by one to the ceiling. removes the need for covering up screw holes in the wood too
@OurVanPlan
@OurVanPlan 3 ай бұрын
You won’t regret it. Building it first was challenging with the install but looks better I think. I’d definitely go with 12mm and you could also hollow it out behind using a router. The ply I painted black was pretty thin tbh but I did consider that black plastic sheeting you can buy from Wickes (not sure what it’s for maybe roofing) but because it’s so thin you’d have to put that up first then the slats.

What a lovely build! I am currently working in my own Fiat Ducato 2006 van and I am STRUGGELING with the electrical system You mentioned having a 200ah lithium battery, and it could serve you 4-5 days without solar panels. According to my calculations (which are probably very wrong) I need a way heavier battery for a same appliances setup. My question is, is the refrigerator on gas or 12V?
@OurVanPlan
@OurVanPlan 3 ай бұрын
Thank you. Glad you like the build. Our fridge is 12v. It’s probably nearer 4 days with fan going, fridge on level 3 of 4, bit of inverter to charge laptops, usb phone charging and heating on and off. Don’t forget things like the fridge only draw current for a proportion of every hour they’re on. So if it draws 6A it’s probably nearer 2AH worth of draw.
