My AOY-36RC 165x38 performs well above -10C. But in colder temps it purges out the air pressure to a certain level (about 25%) and bottoms out often with 85kg rider. Need to sort out a coil shock for winter time.

How do I go about getting this bike. Anybody selling one?
@tmayberry7559Ай бұрын
I have the Rockhopper base 2025 those grips are good for rides shorter than 20 miles IMO The shock isn't that good. The crankset 36 /22 is ok at best. I am use to a 42/ 32 crankset from the 26ers lot more power and better balance However the rest of the bike. The saddle and handlebar width are fine As for the Shimano MT 200. My bike came with 160 rotors front and rear plenty of stopping power much better than the trek FX2 (2023) with the crappy Rush hydro disc brakes. 🤮😡The bike doesn't accelerate as fast as a 26er. IMO

Great review, and still relevant. In 2024, a lower headset cup can go external, to allow tapered fork steerer. Mitigates upgrade concern mentioned in the vid.

I'd like to think that if you were doing DH heavy riding this would be great just to keep the bike simple and you aren't doing a lot of up/down transitions.

A friend of mine just gave me two of these for free so been trying to learn about em. I've never been a serious bike rider, always just ridden whatever was available. When I lived in Japan for a few months I bought a $400 or so bike which I rode every day including a 200km ride into the mountains to visit a hotspring and I have wanted to get back to riding again the last several years. I am trying to to see if I can convert this bike into a decent Touring bike so glad to see that the frame is actually pretty decent. Hopefully I can make it work

This would work awesome for bicycle sharing. Me and my wife sharing the Cargo bicycle. Is such seat post also cushioned by the compressed air? Or rather a position changing rigid seat post.. would be totally awesome if like a office chair also provided minimal dampening to somewhat rougher bumpy roads

This is excellent for my ebike. Used for mounting and dismounting ease and safety. It's nice riding my bike with the proper seat hight and dropping the post to stop especially at intersections and lights with my feet on the ground.
@rboatis5 ай бұрын
I'm thinking about getting one as a present for someone with bad flexibility to help with mounting and dismounting. Did you find it easy drop the post from standstill when dismounting, or do you need to be able to bike for a short bit with one hand as you come to a stop while sitting on the seat and using the other hand to engage the dropper?
@TWiumph18 күн бұрын
Mounting and dismounting is the sole reason I installed the KS ExaForm on my ebike.

I had thought they would be a pain. An external routed post with lever right now from a decent company is at least $200 but seems the only real way to go.

Having a cable dropper on my trail bike got me so used to east in and easy dismount that I bought this type for both my gravel bike and fat bike. Not ideal for on the fly, as you found.

I don't try to adjust except to stop, or on flat, where I see the hill coming. This is not for racing; but for quick adjustments without having to get off the bike, this works great. What does not work, is trying to quick release and adjust without getting off the bike. Without this dropper; I have to physically get off the bike to adjust the seat height; and that really slows me down. If all I do is wait until it's flat, adjust and go while riding, that's great! My bike won't take a cable dropper; and they cost more; not worth it to me to have it installed by a pro; costs more than the dropper!
@Ferrari255GTO8 ай бұрын
But at that point you either barely need it or it's just better to go with the other option. I have used one for a good few months (it broke, i really want another one :/) and i used it SOOO much i just can't imagine not having the lever. This is definitively better than having to get off the bike but if you're gonna spend money on a dropper i'd rather just get a better one

I need a dropper post on my atb hybrid not for midde-of-trail riding but easier dismounting and height adjustment each hop based on how I feel like it. Would this be it?
@Bflo23 Жыл бұрын
Like the honesty. I feel the same way. It goes for any cable less dropper post. Seems like it could be dangerous at times and safety is always a factor with me. I guess if it is doing simple xc trails, it could be bearable but the price difference isn't that far off.

Rockhopper now comes w/ a Suntour XCM fork which is just awesome compared to the XCT which is a true piece of sh%¨t. If well-maintained, XCM is preety smooth and does a pretty good job on keeping the front wheel on the ground. And it can be easily serviced at home, besides being very cheap and durable. It's obvisously not as good or progressive as an air suspension but it's way better than most of the coil spring ones available, including most of the higher end ones.

I’m enjoying the bike so far kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

No issues with assembly for me kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".

Back in the 90s when I first got into MTB I bought the 'hard-rock' (pre-rockhopper) I thought it was the best bike I had ever ridden in my life, it made me love this sport. Five years ago I re-connected with mtb again and I bought the rockhopper expert. I've made more than 4000 miles and got no need to worry about the bike, only changed tyres, no real issues with the fork, everyhing working well until now. That I'm jumping to the 'epic ht' because I'm really satisfied with the brand in each upgrade I''ve gone for.
