That startup is truly beautiful. Had 2 270 CDI’s, so the same engine but with 2,7L istead of 3L. The inline 5 diesel sounds great at idle and high rpms unlike most inline 4’s.

Pretty weird in the mercedes world diesels there is no much tuning to do. In the VAG group every tuner knows the platform and is easy to stage 3 the cars

Usually, the cdi engines can be easily tuned for more power, torque and fuel economy. It is just that those boxes, don't really know the life of your engine, transmission. While the mapper doesn't either, he can try & adjust

Fahre seit 2a eine Brera 2.4 Diesel. Tolles Auto. Toller Sound. Leider in Realität nur ein 2+1 Sitzer. Durchschnittsverbrsuch 6,5l. Für die Leistung und das Gewicht... Respekt!!

Nope, and its still running 😂 Has done now 97.000 km. No major issues apart from a broken clutch slave cylinder...

Very impressive performance. I mean, todays tuner cars(golf R, Cupra, S3/RS3 etc) won’t have such amazing top speed. Kudos Porsche

The aero is really good, considering that it is a convertible, which has worse aerodynamics than the coupe. Also the gearing is made for 300+ km/h.😀

This seemed to be good engine though from my understanding is that 1.3 multijet enjine has timechain but this 1.6 has belt. Why?

Old farmer was the first owner of the car. Then a friend of mine bought it several years ago. My friend is not interested in cars and especially not in tuning. So the car should be stock yes 😂

Why did you keep shifting before the 6100 rpm power peak ? This did gave slower times than the car was capable of.

According to technical data of the engine, the peak power is at 6000 rpm not 6100😀

Hmm, these are interesting cars. I'm glad AMG made it, a lot of people diss on these like why would AMG make a diesel sports car. Diesels are more powerful then petrol motors. Sure they aren't loud and exciting but in their own respects they have a lot more muscle with all the torque and that's all a great driving characteristic, particularly when cruising on the open road at high speeds they're much faster then gas motors. I have a 2006 E320 CDI and it's really fast, out on the open roads the inline 6 is a much faster motor then V8. They're just too big to keep up in the long haul when the 6 is the right size motor capable of producing power continuously. Nowadays diesel have won out, in both the new audi S4 and the Mercedes E AMG they're using diesels because diesels make more power. Both of them are 3 liter diesel with 380hp and like 600ft/lbs of torque or more.

Due to the high torque it accelerates faster from 80-120 kph than a Porsche 996 Turbo back in the time. So driving on twisty roads is a lot of fun when the turbo kicks in :D
