Skoda and VW never made over engineered cars in India. They all had niggling troubles and quite expensive troubles at that. Even a skoda Rapid servicing cost after a lakh of kms usually cost a Lakh of Rupees every time. The over engineering they speak about is in the sheet metal and build quality and not in component reliability. Tata is far superior to these companies in terms of component quality. They last much longer. The only reason to buy a Skoda or a VW is for drive feel and handling and snob value.

Cost of maintenance is based on how the user has handled and used his car. Any brand it will be expensive not just Rapid

@@KeshavaRaju08021980Friday The facts speak for themselves. A toyota and maruti always costs less for a service. You can also see the verdict by observing the taxi ,arket or even the used car market. In both scenarios, maintenance is valued the most.

@@subhashchandrabose7346 service is oil, fluid and belt change. Do you mean this? Or what is your perspective of car services? Service package in Skoda is very affordable. But still I see this misinformation. I am a Kodiaq owner and I have no cost issues when it comes to service, once a year I get my car serviced (oil, fluid change)

It is a big mistake. Legacy auto makers were already late to the EV party, and VW has now dealt itself a blow. The massive Chinese EV output is going to drive the EV uptake in ways no one can predict, and these people will be got flat footed again. This is what happened to Nokia fuffing around with their Symbian nonsense when they got left behind by Android!!
